TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR RECRUITING A POLICY ANALYSIS AND ADVOCACY EXPERT

Position: Policy Analysis and Advocacy Expert

Number: 1

Report to: NAR Director of Programs

1. Background

Never Again Rwanda (NAR) is a peace building and social justice non-government organization that arose in response to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Guided by a vision of a society that enjoys sustainable peace and social justice, NAR aims to engage society to embrace sustainable peace and social justice. NAR has five core pillars: Peacebuilding, Governance & Human Rights, Youth Engagement, Research, and Strategic Partnerships.

As part of its governance and rights pillar, Never Again Rwanda is implementing different programmes and projects aimed to promote participatory governance. Recently, NAR received funding from the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) through its Public Policy – Information, Monitoring, and Advocacy (PPIMA) project to implement the programme advocacy component at national level. The role of Never Again Rwanda under PPIMA project is to contribute to policy change through evidence-based advocacy, and empowering PPIMA partners to participate and vibrantly engage with policy makers (policy process) on issues that affect citizen’s lives as they arise from the Community Score Card (CSC) process and other public spaces and fora. NAR will work with all PPIMA partners for a collective consolidation and analysis of the issues raised by citizens across project Districts through Community Score Card, translate its results into complementary advocacy tools and resources and deeper investigate lingering challenges through the Participatory Action Research process as means to elaborate evidence-based conclusions and recommendations to better elevate and advocate for citizen priorities that require attention of national policy-makers.

NAR is expected to assess the policy influencing readiness of PPIMA partner CSOs and help design a joint policy advocacy strategy and action plan that will guide PPIMA policy influencing work through the period 2021-2024. It is against this background that Never Again Rwanda wishes to recruit a Policy Analysis and Advocacy Expert to support NAR’s team in this process.

2. Purpose of the assignment

The overall purpose of the assignment is to conduct a policy influencing preparedness/ readiness analysis and empower PPIMA CSO partners in that regard and draw an evidence-based policy advocacy/influencing strategy and plan. In addition, the expert will lead and oversee NAR advocacy and policy influencing efforts through PPIMA program, produce the detailed report of advocacy efforts and its impact, design and update the PPIMA Advocacy tracking tool.

3. Scope of work, roles, and responsibilities

The consultant will do the following:

3.1 Preparatory groundwork

3.1.1 Conduct a quick desk review of programmatic documentation and related reports to garner an understanding of PPIMA design and particularly its new direction towards national policy influencing;
3.1.2 Review organizational documents (corporate policies, strategies, action plans and activity reports) of PPIMA partner CSOs to make sense of their policy influencing mainstreaming practices or approaches and take stock of pending advocacy issues that arose from the CSC process over the last PPIMA phase;
3.1.3 Conduct and facilitate a methodology workshop with NAR & other PPIMA partner CSOs.

3.2. Conduct a participatory assessment of PPIMA partners’ organizational policy influencing readiness:

3.2. Collect primary data from key resource persons through individual and group interviews (FGDs) with the core staff and management of NAR and other exiting and or new PPIMA beneficiaries as well as relevant programme boundary partners;
3.2.2 Take stock of unaddressed key issues of concern to citizens which arose from CSC process in previous years;
3.2.3 Organize and facilitate cross-learning workshops for partner CSOs to share, prioritize & discuss most pressing yet pending citizens’ issues that arose from the CSC process in past years and explore collaboration and coalition opportunities to advocate citizens’ interests with one voice;
3.2.4 Assess partners’ organizational capacities in (evidence-based) policy advocacy and process documentation.

3.3 Conduct a participatory development of PPIMA policy influencing instruments:

3.3.1  Design and develop a joint advocacy strategy to guide partners’ engagement efforts through the duration of the 4th generation of PPIMA i.e between 2021 and 2024;
3.3.2  Develop a detailed action plan for the implementation of the joint advocacy strategy;
3.3.3  Present both the draft joint advocacy strategy and action plan during pre-validation and validation workshops with partners.

3.3 Advocacy and policy influencing

The expert will lead and oversee all advocacy efforts and policy influencing efforts for PPIMA program, produce detailed report of advocacy efforts and its impact, design and update the PPIMA Advocacy tracking tool on regular basis. In addition, the expert will also provide technical leadership in design and implementation, monitoring, and reporting of advocacy activities under this program. The expert will provide NAR management with advice on how to better influence policy change through strategic advocacy and coalitions.

4. Supervision and Working relationships

The consultant will be an integral part of a team of NAR Policy Analysts who will report to the Director of programs and will work closely with program and research teams.

5. Qualifications

The desired skills and experience of the expert include the following:

At least 8-10 progressive working experience in a policy making or policy analysis and or policy advisory role;
A strong understanding of the Government machinery including national policy-making process and key moments of planning;
A strong knowledge and understanding of post-genocide Rwanda’s political culture, rules of government system engagement, and governance principles;
Strong understanding of the Rwandan governance context and policy landscape;
Previous experience with Civil society Organizations and development partners
Strong knowledge and understanding the drivers of future growth in Rwanda as well as national vision policies (e.g. Vision 2020, NST1, blueprint Vision 2050) and their relationships;
Expert skills in policy analysis and issue-based stakeholders’ relationships analysis;
Sensitivity to details and inclusion issues;
Ability to write up powerful change influencing materials (policy notes, issue-based policy briefs, background papers, discussion documents, human interest stories, etc.) and to engage high-ranking government policy-makers;
PhD or Master’s degree in Governance studies, political sciences, development studies, law or other relevant field in social sciences;
Extensive working experience with civil society or international cooperation in a policy influencing or advisory role;
Proven record of delivering high-quality professional outputs
Excellent speaking and writing skills in English
An ability to work within tight deadlines.

1. Background

Since its establishment, NAR has placed emphasis on youth empowerment and engagement. A number of projects and programs implemented across the country, aim to empower youth with opportunities to become active citizens. NAR empowers young people with critical thinking skills, public speaking and dialogue skills, governance and democratic values, peace education, participatory approaches, and socio-economic opportunities.

NAR implements varied youth projects and programs, and all initiatives include youth as part of the main beneficiaries. Some projects aim to build the capacities of youth to be more confident and willing to come together to identify, structure, analyze and envision solutions to (policy) issues impacting their lives. Through the different projects and programs, we empower youth to effectively use existing consultative platforms (direct or indirect) to constructively engage government authorities on their concerns, needs, and priorities and hold them to account. It is against this background that Never Again Rwanda wishes to recruit a full-time Youth Engagement Team Leader.

Position summary

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Youth Engagement Team leader will provide technical leadership and coordination of the Youth Engagement strategic pillar. He/she will coordinate the design, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, and learning of youth engagement-related projects and activities including participating in the proposal writing process for new projects/programs. He/she will be responsible to coordinate district youth engagement officers to deliver quality deliverables within a timely manner and with minimum resources. He/she will be responsible for reporting on youth engagement related projects and activities.

2. Role and responsibilities

Design and planning

Co-design and implement joint programming strategies with selected partner organisations.
Provide NAR management with technical and strategic advice on youth engagement strategies, policies, and programs.
Ensure that projects design under youth engagement pillar are linked with NAR’s vision, mission, and strategic plan.
Responsible for planning and budgeting for all youth engagement program activities
Coordinate the projects set up in collaboration with district youth engagement officers
Lead projects/programs introduction at district and sector levels
Coordinate the official launch of the projects at the national level
Contribute to proposal design for new projects seeking additional funding under the Youth engagement pillar
Hold Quarterly and annual planning meetings for all projects under Youth engagement pillar
Lead the development of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual plans for all projects under youth engagement pillar

Implementation and coordination

Lead and supervise the implementation of projects/activities under Youth engagement pillar
Supervise the drafting of concept notes, work plans, and proposals.
Contribute in policy analysis, advocacy, policy briefs development on issues affecting youth
Coordinate day to day effective and quality implementation of projects under the youth engagement pillar in collaboration with district engagement officers
Provide technical leadership in identification and selection of project beneficiaries.
Ensure effective youth engagement in local and national decisions making processes
Collaborate with district youth engagement officers to conduct feedback sessions with youth beneficiaries.
Support youth engagement officers to monitor youth independent initiatives in the districts of operation.
Lead the advocacy process for all documented youth issues at local and national levels
Map out all youth initiatives, create and update youth clubs and associations database

Research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning

Collaborate with NAR M&E expert to design user friendly M&E tools
Support M&E expert to provide capacity building for district youth engagement staff on effective use of data collection and reporting tools
Support M&E team to conduct baseline and end-line surveys and program assessments.
Lead the collection and reporting of youth engagement M&E data using the approved M&E tools
Closely work with a research team to conduct proposed research projects under the youth engagement pillar
Support the director of programs to organize quarterly and annual review workshops to share progress, lessons learned, challenges and opportunities.
Actively participate in learning events including peer to peer learning sessions, community of practices, etc.
Ensure proper data entry for youth engagement related data in M&E database
Undertake regular visits to projects activities to monitor progress, document challenges and lessons learned, and mentor youth associations/clubs
Ensure proper physical and online filling system for all youth engagement program data and documents.

Partnership and collaboration

Nurture and foster good collaboration with local and national level authorities and partners under the guidance from NAR Senior Management
Participate and represent NAR in meetings organized by partners and donors as requested
Engage local and national stakeholders that have interest in youth programs
Establish synergies with other partners working in the areas of youth engagement

Documentation and Reporting

Support the drafting of timely quality reports in line with NAR and donors’ requirements
Support the documentation of evidence from the field to inform implementation and new projects design
Work with M&E expert and communications team to identify and document lessons learnt and good practices
Ensure timely and quality event /activity reports
Provide timely supporting documents to the finance to justify funds and other resources used

3. Qualifications

The Youth Engagement Team leader must have the following qualifications:

At least a master’s degree in governance, political sciences, democracy, human rights, development studies, or other related social sciences
Experience working with youth, local leaders, communities, and local partners including coordinating youth projects in areas of governance, democracy, human rights, and behavior change
Having experience coordinating programs and projects related to CSOs, government and or development partners
Prior experience in working with donors etc.
Prior experience in report writing, proposal writing, and research facilitation.

4. Professional Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

Technical skills in planning and budgeting
Familiar with donor requirements in program implementation and reporting
Technical skills in youth engagement
Technical skills in advocacy and citizen engagement
Experience in working with youth from diverse backgrounds
Skills in gender analysis and mainstreaming
Previous experience working with multiple stakeholders
Capacity to engage district and national policymakers and other authorities on matters affecting youth
Experience working with a range of stakeholders including civil society, government, national organizations
Strong understanding of Rwanda governance policies and government programs
Skills in context analysis
Experience in data collection, data analysis, and report writing
Excellent written and spoken proficiency in Kinyarwanda and English. Knowledge of French is an added advantage
Strong planning skills and capacity to manage multiple and tight deadlines
Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for the latest Windows application

It aims to provide 40,000 vulnerable youth with employability skills by scaling up proven successful interventions across 20 of 30 districts countrywide. USAID Umurimo Kuri Bose (UKB) is a 2-year project that aims to increase employability skills of youth with disabilities in 12 districts, while fostering an enabling environment for youth with disabilities to be able to access and succeed in employment and self-employment. Mastercard Foundation Building Resilience in TVET through E-learning (BRITE) is a 2-year project that will support and work closely with Rwanda Polytechnic to help strengthen existing e-learning initiatives by focusing on transferable employability skills, trade-based technical skills, as well as remote support to students during their internships and/or apprenticeships.

Summary: The Finance Assistant will be responsible for routine basic accounting processes in accordance with the set Standards and accounting procedures for EDC projects in Rwanda.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Rwanda country Manager, s/he will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finance administration functions for Rwanda operations. On financial functions, she/he will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts, liaising with the finance unit at the regional level and headquarter level to support timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining a healthy balance sheet, providing audit support and aligning of processes and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain financial analysis and reporting activities for Rwanda operations.

Support the annual financial audit processes through the preparation of standard reports as well as other custom reports as requested within the legal and regulatory requirements.
Initiate and manage country budgets and forecasts.
Create finance journal entries as required for Rwanda operations.
Lead in the management of account payables and receivables activities for Rwanda operations.
Collaborate with the finance and HR teams in preparation of financial reports and statements for Rwanda operations.
Align and reconcile country and region’s monthly general ledger balance, invoices, and credit card statements.
Set guidelines to ensure maintenance of the general and subsidiary ledgers.
Plans and prepares tax documents for timely filing of tax returns
Organize and maintain all Rwanda financial records and files as per the AGRA policies
Organize the administration processes for all payroll activities as well as oversee vendor payments for Rwanda Operations.
Plan for all bill payments and any invoicing as per the deadlines.

Academic, Professional Qualifications and Relevant experience

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or financial monitoring.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience.
An MBA in any relevant field a strong added advantage.
Accounting certification.
Strong analytical, data mining ability.
Understanding of auditing techniques to help ensure countries and regions’ financial operations remain in compliance.
Computer proficiency in spreadsheets, presentations, and reporting software.
Ability to work independently in a diverse environment
Experience in working with similar organizations or institutions will be an added advantage.

TOR OBJECTIVE

Develop and translate visual aids for Development Consultative Committees (DCC) training, under “Acceleration of Integrated Social Protection Intervention in Rwanda (AISPR) program”. To this end, World Relief Rwanda (WRR) seeks to engage a consultant to undertake the development of a visual training aid for the DCC (in English and translated in Kinyarwanda)

SCOPE OF WORK AND EXPECTED OUTPUTS / DELIVERABLES

Conduct a desk review and analyze all the necessary documents/training modules, training materials to fully understand the ground situation, and existing visual training aides available for DCC training.
Refer to the DCC training manual, and other available visual aids to develop DCC visual training aids aligned with the objectives of this program.
Produce a well-written and comprehensive visual aid training needs assessment report, including recommendations for Post-training evaluation.
Based on this assessment, develop a comprehensive visual training aid manual (in English translated to Kinyarwanda).
Share the draft visual training aid with key experts including government, UNICEF, FAO, WFP, and WRR for their review and validation; incorporate comments and finalize the aid. (Validation process to be facilitated by WRR)
Assist the WRR program team in organizing and facilitating one Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop using the developed visual aid.

FINAL DELIVERABLES

Comprehensive visual aids for DCC training developed, validated, and shared with WRR in soft and colour print outs (6 copies/each aid developed)
One-day TOT workshop on use of visual aids completed and reports submitted, including pre and post-training evaluation.

TIMEFRAME AND DEADLINES

The consultancy assignment is for a period of 10 days from the day of contract signing and it is likely to start in May 2021

REPORTS

The Consultant will present the results to WRR Office located at Kacyiru, Kigali, from time to time to share the progress of activities under this contract and certifying that the works, tasks, assignment have been satisfactorily performed.

REQUIRED EXPERTISE

The needed expertise: The consultant or the consultant team should have proof of prior experience of at least 5 years of consultancies and show the proof of having performed similar works in the two previous years with references (contacts: emails and phone number) to be consulted if necessary. The consultant or members of the team must have their background in one or all of the following skill sets.

Masters’ degree in computer science, information technology, and any related field with experience in developing visual aids/or graphic design. (Some experience with bachelors’ degree May be considered)

Carry out a “Gap” analysis to identify gaps in the trainings being imparted on DCC. Map out the issues and identify the priorities in line with the objectives of this program. This should include consultations and meetings and key informant interviews with relevant stakeholders (Government, INGOs, CSOs, etc.) working with DCC.
Produce a well-written and comprehensive training needs assessment report based on the above, including recommendations for Post -training evaluation.
Based on this assessment, develop a comprehensive training manual (in English translated to Kinyarwanda) for TOTs and Participants
Share the draft module with key experts including government, UNICEF, FAO, WFP, and WRR for their review and validation; incorporate comments and finalize the manuals. (To be facilitated by WRR)
Assist the WRR program team in organizing and facilitating one Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop using the developed manual.

FINAL DELIVERABLES

One Training Needs Assessment workshop completed and report submitted, the report should include a desk review, situation report, stakeholders, and gap analysis.

Required:

Job Purpose Statement

The Accountant will be responsible and accountable for keeping proper financial records of the company and the preparation of accurate financial reports.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
Examining bank statements and reconciling them with general ledger entries.
Prepare and file monthly statutory deductions (PAYE, RSSB, VAT, Maternity, etc.…).
Examine the proficiency of the software programs used to organize data.

Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions.
Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
Provide technical support and advice on management.
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
Provide input into department’s goal setting process.
Work with internal and external audits in providing them with necessary information.
Support month-end and year-end close process.

Maintain customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Communicate effectively with clients.
Contribute to a strong client relationship through positive interactions with client personnel.

Requirements for the Role:

Educational qualifications:

The Accountant must have:

At least bachelor’s degree in, finance, accounting, economics, or related field;
Having a professional qualification in CPA or ACCA is an added value.

Experience

At least two (2) years working experience in an insurance company or related field
Previous experience in the finance department of an insurance company will be an added value.

Technical skills:

Strong knowledge in accounting and international financial reporting standard;
Demonstrated skills in Rwandan tax laws and regulations;
Excellent computer skills including word processing, Excel, and PowerPoint;
Strong Analytical and Problem-solving skills;
Thorough knowledge of General Ledger accounting and account reconciliation;
Experience with accounting software;
Highly detail Oriented;
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda; basic French knowledge would be a plus;

Key duties and responsibilities

RECRUITMENT OF ACTIONAID RWANDA (AAR) COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

ActionAid Rwanda (AAR) is an Affiliate Member of ActionAid International (AAI) – an anti-poverty agency working with poor, voiceless people, communities, and similar-minded partners worldwide. ActionAid is a non-partisan, non-religious development organisation that has been working in Rwanda since 1982 to contribute towards eradication of poverty and injustices with a focus on tackling the root causes of poverty.

Currently, ActionAid Rwanda implements several activities in the areas of Agriculture, Education & Food security, Women’s Rights, and Poverty Eradication from 7 Local Right Programs (LRPs) including Nyanza, Gisagara, Ruheru, Murundi, Gitesi, Muko, and Shingiro LRPs.

The Communications Unit plays a key role in ensuring the visibility of AAR work and enhancing its brand. The Communications role is very vital to document and disseminate the achievements of the organisation to achieve visibility and build its brand.

AAR is seeking for applications from well qualified and self-motivated persons to fill the position of a Communications Coordinator.

1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Communications Coordinator shall work under the direct supervision of Head of Programs and Policy, he/she will work harmoniously with the Program and Policy team to build a strong and credible profile, image, and reputation of AAR using effective, creative, and innovative communication tools. The Communication Coordinator’s work will support the program team to raise the profile and improve the visibility of the programs and partnerships of ActionAid Rwanda at local, national, and international levels and enhancing regular interaction, dialogue, and communication with the key stakeholders of AAR, including rights holders (women, children, youth and other people living in poverty) partners, AAR supporters. He /she will also ensure that the communication Strategy is updated, implemented, and monitored.

Reporting

The Communications Coordinator shall report to the Head of Programs and Policy

Expected tasks and deliverables

1. Development, implementation, and monitoring of the AAR Communication Strategy and plans

Takes a lead in the integration of communication, documentation, and information work in the AAR CSP, Annual Plans and Budgets, and Medium/long term plans and budgets
Review the AAR’s Communication Strategy in consultation with Head of Programmes and Policy, SMT, and AA GS Media and Communications Team.
Manages monitors and reviews the implementation of the AAR Communication Strategy.

2. Capacity building and support of AAR partners, rights holders, and AAR staff in developing effective communication strategies and activities.

Identification of partner, rights holders, and AAR staff capacity building needs in documentation, communication, and information work.
Developing and implementing capacity building plans on documentation, communication, and information work.
Training, mentoring, and coaching of AAR partner organizations and AAR Staff in developing and managing their own documentation and communication strategies and activities, including follow up support visits to partners.
Defines Terms of Reference and identifies suitable resource persons/consultants for the different training workshops and other capacity building interventions on communication and information work in partnerships.
Ensure that ActionAid Rwanda’s partners implement their activities in accordance with the contract and agreed plans.

3. Documentation of AAR programmes, Management of Website/HIVE, and production of publications

Management and regular updates of the AAR Website, Social media sites, and HIVE sites.
Writing, editing, and supervision of the production and dissemination of AAR publications communication and information materials (e.g. newsletters, magazines, press statements, brochures, flyers, posters, videos, etc.)
Development and dissemination of IEC materials that facilitate sensitization of right holders, communities, and other key stakeholders on relevant rights issues linked to CSP strategic objectives and key change promises.
Compilation of Impact stories and testimonies from rights holders (Women, children, youths, and other people living in poverty), partners, and other stakeholders of the programme.
Compilation of best practices/ success stories and case studies.

4. Networking and representation of AAR

Acts as Media Liaison person for the AAR Country Programme as directed by Management
Identifies, facilitates, and maintains contacts and relationships with the local and global Media in order to build a strong public profile and visibility of AAR and its partnerships.
Drafts press statements and organises press conferences in consultation with Country Director and/or Head of Programmes and Policy.
Organizes and facilitates AAR’s public relations and marketing activities, including organisation of Exhibitions at relevant platforms (e.g. Agricultural shows, NGO Expo, Trade Fairs, Public Meetings, Civil Society Meetings, Donor Round Table meetings, etc.)
Contributes to the development and implementation of AAR campaigns and advocacy work by mobilizing different Media and other key stakeholders and setting up effective communication platforms for different stakeholders of the programme in order to influence policy, attitudes, and behaviour changes at local, national, and regional/internal levels.
Organising and co-facilitation of commemorations/anniversaries of International/Regional events at National, local, and partner levels (e.g. International Women’s Day, 16 Days of Gender Activism, World Food Day, Rural Women’s Days, Day of African Child, World AIDS day, International Human Rights Day etc.)

Required qualification and experience:

Education:

Other requirements and competences

Strong command in oral and written English and Kinyarwanda as well as a working knowledge of French.
High skills level in using different Computer software packages for producing various publications

Who are we:

We are a consortium of 6 non-governmental organizations: Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Germany), Pole Institute (DRC), Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle (Rwanda), Cornerstone Development Africa & LéO Africa Institute (Uganda), and Actions for Democracy and Local Governance (Tanzania). Together, we implement the project “Great Lakes Youth Network for Dialogue and Peace. Our Diversity – our Opportunity!” co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

What is this project about:

Many youths in the region are taking action and are part of the solutions that the Great Lakes Region needs. They actively engage in various fields that contribute to peace. However, the challenges they face are many and prevent them from being more impactful and making their voices heard. This project seeks to build on this momentum through dialogue and opportunities of exchange for youth organizations and other key actors. The project will be a crossroads between youth groups and local, national, and international stakeholders in politics, the private sector, civil society, NGOs, academia, and the media.

By promoting the active, cooperative, sustainable and positive role of youth actions, creating a strong network between them, and bringing all stakeholders on board, this project aims to contribute to peace and stability in the Great Lakes Region

Over a project duration of three years, we offer you a unique opportunity to, firstly, strengthen your organization’s internal capacities in areas most relevant to your work: effective communication, advocacy, resource mobilization, organization structuring, etc., through high-quality training workshops, including a training of trainers component. Secondly, you will be enabled to build a network with other youth organizations in your country and in the region through frequent exchanges, cross-border discussions, and three regional summer schools. Empowering youth with the means and space to develop their own solutions to conflict;

Reporting to the Lead Travel Advisor, the ideal candidate will be tasked with promoting and selling KQ products and value add services (ancillary) at both B2C & B2B level, provide personalized travel related services to internal and external customers and demonstrate ownership and execution of Sales process.

Key responsibilities will include;

Ticketing

Locate available flights; Check on best connections if more than one flight is involved, determine fare costs to maximize on revenue while helping passengers to save.
Help customers find the right itinerary that fit their needs; apply upgrades on additional costs to generate more revenue.
Provide with details and accurate fare quotes to all KQ clients to provide the best applicable fare and generate revenue.
Handling unaccompanied minors, cancel or change reservations when requested by clients, reissue, revalidate tickets and collect applicable fees thus generate income.
Action queues appropriately and inform passengers on flight changes, confirmations, ticketing time limits, handle special requests like seats preference, meals, baggage requirements waitlists and confirmations, to ensure customers’ requests are met and reduce GDS costs.
Highlight to customers the legal requirements covering their journey such as passports, visa, and health requirements, check in place, departure time and baggage allowance to avoid inconveniencing the passengers and ensure seamless service.
Action VMPDS, selling excess baggage, handling cool fliers (student fares) to increase sales and passenger loyalty.
Correct CRS usage and queue management to reduce cost and increase revenue generation.

Customer Service

Actively build relationships with clients by offering good customer service to retain and recruit new customers.
Support travel agents by efficiently assisting them with their general enquiries to improve relationship with the travel market and increase agent’s loyalty.
Providing online assistance for reservation, check in, payment to maximize sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
Actively involved in suggesting new ideas and providing recommendations on the improvement of services provided, this increases revenue and ensures KQ success as market leading airline.
Handle customers complaints (denied boarding, baggage etc to ensure customer satisfaction and retention
Facilitate and coordinate tracing of lost, delayed, or misdirected baggage for customers and ensure safe delivery of the said baggage to win passengers confidence.
Handling GSA services –Ticket issue to increasing KQ network through joint ventures.
Handle flight schedule disruptions to ensure passengers have a seamless service throughout their journey and Carry out service recovery.

Sales

Position Overview

University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) is committed to providing an academic experience rooted in global health delivery and equity. UGHE seeks a faculty, an educator, who can use a creative approach coupled with the energy and dedication to:

develop, modify, and deliver the Evidence-Based Global Health Delivery (EBCHD) module of the MGHD program- a research methods course focused on three key themes: epidemiology approaches; applied biostatistical principles, and study design (both quantitative and qualitative); and monitoring and evaluation.
develop, modify, and deliver Research Methodology, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and other public health modules of the MBBS (MD) program.
be the lead faculty in teaching the Research Methods, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and other public health related courses in other academic programs at UGHE.

The faculty should also demonstrate vast implementation expertise, experience teaching and developing academic training programs, a robust research portfolio, and leadership. The faculty will be required to teach other courses at UGHE, according to their expertise.

The faculty is expected to live and work within Rwanda to undertake this role.

Responsibilities

Teach (60%)

Be the lead faculty in the online EBGHD module on the MGHD program for the MGHD program.
Be the lead faculty in teaching the Research Methods, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and other public health related courses on the MBBS (MD) program.
Be the lead faculty in teaching the Research Methods, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and other public health related courses on other academic programs at UGHE such as Nursing and Midwifery, Executive Education, and PhD programs.
Adapt and deliver the aforementioned UGHE-developed EBGHD module to promote student mastery in applied bio-statistical principles; quantitative and qualitative study designs; epidemiology approaches; and monitoring and evaluation.
Design/modify the statistical software workshop curriculum/materials and deliver and supervise the delivery of the workshop.
Utilize dynamic and outcome-driven teaching practices (including team-based and problem-based learning approaches) to develop students’ critical thinking abilities and technical expertise.
Oversee the ongoing design, instruction, coordination, and evaluation of the course.
Contribute to the evaluation of students in a timely and comprehensive manner, consistent with UGHE monitoring and evaluation protocol and course assessment criteria.
Serve as course instructor in all relevant modules of MGHD and MBBS as either in the lead or supporting role where skills and expertise apply. Courses may include Health Policy and Political Economy, Principles in Global Health Equity, Managing Global Health Care Delivery, practicum, and other executive education courses.
Respond promptly to student and administrative requests.
Support students outside of the classroom via in person and online modalities.

Supervising and mentoring (20%)

Mentor students (MGHD, MBBS, and others) undertaking research initiatives related to the course as well as the Practicum, providing guidance on students’ choice of study design and analytical approach.
Mentor and guide students through the academic year for their ongoing professional growth
Supervise and mentor UGHE’s junior faculty in professional development, including but not limited to education, research, management, and communication skills.

Provide Strategic Leadership (10%)

Oversee and continuous improvement of the EBGHD module and integrating of the MGHD into UGHE’s future degree offerings, in partnership with UGHE’s Director of IGH, other academic department heads, and non-academic staff.
Manage, mentor, and supervise a growing MGHD staff and faculty team.
Cultivate a strong body of teaching faculty.
Oversee the development of new delivery models and modalities for the EBGHD module
Participate in different academic and non-academic committees at UGHE
Be willing to take academic, non-academic committee, and ad-hoc responsibilities as assigned by the UGHE leadership
Oversee the continuous monitoring, evaluation, and quality improvement for all aspects of the EBGHD, in partnership with MGHD team.
Provide input in the strategy and direction for Global Health Education at UGHE.
Serve as a leader for academic developments including global health learning, teaching, research.

Conduct and Accompany Research (10%)

Undertake research leading to peer-reviewed publications focused on global health delivery and equity.
Accompany and mentor student and alumni-driven global health research linked to their UGHE training.

Qualifications

PhD training that includes significant and diverse research methods experience, especially focused on global health, equity/health disparities, applied biostatistical principles and study design, epidemiology approaches, qualitative and mixed-methods research, and monitoring and evaluation
Experience teaching and mentoring health science-oriented master’s level research methods students, utilizing active learning approaches
Experience adapting teaching strategies to accommodate learners of different backgrounds and with different levels of pre-existing content familiarity
Proficiency in SPSS software for statistical analysis
Proficiency or familiarity with other statistical softwares such as REDCap, R, EpiInfo, GraphPad Prism, is preferred
Proficiency in software for qualitative analysis.
Advanced training and experience in health, research, or clinical education with a focus on global settings and equity-driven initiatives
