GENERAL MISSION

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIREMENTS

Required profile:

  • University diploma
  • Proven experience as Hair salon manager or similar role in the beauty industry
  • Additional certification in cosmetology, Beauty therapy or relevant filed is a plus.
  • Good understanding of French (spoken and written).

Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Hairdressing and products, up to date with hair trends
  • Knowledge of the beauty industry  and customers needs.
  • Familiarity with social media

Know how, expertise:

Main Responsibilities and duties:

Technical Advisor for climate policy and planning for

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federally owned international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. GIZ has worked in Rwanda for over 30 years. The primary objectives of cooperation between the Government of Rwanda and the Federal Republic of Germany are poverty reduction and promotion of sustainable development. To achieve these objectives, GIZ Rwanda is active in the following five areas: Training and Sustainable Growth for Decent Jobs; Peaceful and Inclusive Societies; Responsibility for our Planet – Climate and Energy; Digitalization and Digital Economy; and Regional Programmes.

The GIZ project “Capacity Development for the Implementation of Rwanda’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC)” aims to strengthen the organizational and the technical capacities of the Ministry of Environment (MoE) of Rwanda to coordinate the implementation of the country’s Nationally Determined Contributions on climate change (NDCs). It further supports designated public institutions to integrate and implement the NDC objectives into selected policies, strategies and plans, and helps to improve the access of private enterprises and financial intermediaries to funding measures for the implementation of Rwanda’s NDC. The project was initiated following the signature of the new Rwandan-German Climate and Development Partnership in March 2022 between the Rwandan and German governments. It is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment (MoE).


GIZ would like to recruit a candidate for the position of Technical Advisor for climate policy and planning for the “Capacity Development for the Implementation of Rwanda’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC)” Project.

The Technical Advisor for climate policy and planning performs the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall achievement of the objectives and outputs of the NDC project,
  • Advise the Ministry of Environment of Rwanda (MoE) on the selection / coordination of sectors for integrating the NDC objectives into their policies, strategies and plans,
  • Provide technical and policy advice to the MoE on the integration of NDC objectives into selected sectors, strategies, policies and plans of designated public institutions,
  • Provide technical, policy and process-related advice to MoE regarding Rwanda’s role in regional (Africa) as well as international climate change negotiations and initiatives,
  • Support the organization and implementation of activities, training and measures to strengthen and develop organizational and technical capacities of designated sectors,
  • Support the MoE with regional sharing of experiences on the NDC implementation and assist in generating data regarding NDC implementation across designated sectors,
  • Facilitate communication with the MoE and key stakeholders on NDC implementation,

  • Support the development of a roadmap for the MoE and the selected sectors and affiliated institutions towards strengthening their climate rationale and the planning to integrate the NDC objectives into their existing policies, strategies and plans,
  • Provide technical / policy advice to the MoE on the identification, onboarding as well as coordination of the designated sectors with regard to designing and implementing activities and measures to strengthen their organizational and technical capacities,
  • Provide technical / policy advice to the MoE on the integration of NDC objectives into the selected strategies, policies and plans of the designated sectors and institutions,
  • Support the MoE and the selected sectors to engage in regional (Africa) as well as international experience sharing on NDC implementation through the mainstreaming of the NDC objectives across the selected policies, strategies and plans.
  1. Capacity development and partners’ support
  • Support the identification of the project partners’ needs and formulate approaches to address them in line with the project’s objectives and the NDC implementation plan,
  • Contribute to the preparation, implementation and follow-up of capacity development activities and measures for the selected sectors in close coordination with the MoE,
  • Assist the MoE with the coordination, preparation and implementation of activities that contribute to the capacity development of the selected sectors for NDC implementation such as trainings, workshops, forums, field trips, research and other relevant initiatives,
  • Contribute to the coordination and exchange with all selected sectors and stakeholders to foster knowledge and experience sharing on the NDC mainstreaming in the sectors.

  • Support cooperation, regular dialogue, exchange and networking opportunities with all the project stakeholders and within the project team,
  • Maintain a good flow of communication and information sharing within the project team and all the relevant project partners (MoE, line ministries, private sector, etc.).

Required Qualifications, Competences and Experience 

Qualifications and professional experience

  • University degree (Master’s) in a relevant field: climate change, environmental sciences, natural resources, policy development and planning, political sciences, etc.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in a comparable position,
  • Good knowledge of Rwanda’s climate change policies, strategies, sectors, legislation, institutional landscape, implementation structures / actors, planning processes, etc.,
  • Good knowledge of the Paris Agreement, international climate policy and negotiations,
  • Experience / expertise in policy development, policy planning or budgeting is an asset,
  • Experience in advising or providing technical and policy advice to governmental and/or private sector in the context of climate change, including with managing consultants.

Other knowledge and additional competences

  • Good communication and excellent self-management and coordination skills,
  • Excellent ability to share knowledge / experience and demonstrated ability to work and deliver high quality work sometimes under time pressure and within tight deadlines,

About the Role

The Finance Transformation and Strategy Senior Associate will work directly with the Head of Financial Advisory Services (FAS) to lead different strategic projects and process improvement initiatives that are critical for the Finance division. You will identify and advance opportunities to optimize processes and system automation initiatives. You will gain insight into the broader finance departments and major organization-wide change projects.

Responsibilities

Project Management and Process Improvement – you will

  • Lead high-priority projects: directly implement and lead key projects aimed at setting up a scalable and efficient team. You will be working with staff across the Finance Team as you take the lead on such projects, reporting progress back to the Head of FAS and engaging him when necessary. Sample projects include:

    • Create financial models for new business opportunities that emphasize paths toward profitability, process effectiveness, and balance sheet health

    • Prepare robust scenario plans that inform short-to medium-term decisions that align with the organization’s objectives, and finance strategy.

  • Lead process improvement initiatives: assess existing process flows and initiatives to improve team throughput, define the target state, prepare an implementation roadmap and drive teamwork prioritization. Sample projects include:

    • Identifying integration opportunities for relevant data, mainly getting us to a roadmap to move to extended planning and analysis (xP&A) to improve the speed of decision-making and reduce overall time spent by the team in collating, reconciling and transforming data.

    • On an ongoing basis, identify areas of improvement; research best practices and offer guidance and recommendations for changes and potential solutions.


Financial Management:

  • Perform preliminary financial reviews for multiple deliverables such as models from program teams, budget roll-ups, board packs, etc.

  • Represent Finance to program teams and drive a variety of finance-related projects by working to connect FP&A, Accounting, and Treasury teams with program teams.

Staff Management: you will oversee the professional development and high-quality project work of one Analyst.

Primary Purpose:

This position is primarily responsible to provide cultural orientation training to refugees approved for resettlement to the United States in accordance with US Refugee Admission Program (USRAP) guidelines and RSC Africa CO standard operating procedures. Trainings mostly take place in refugee settlements in Rwanda and sometimes in other urban and camp locations throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintains a current knowledge of the US and US Refugee Admissions Program, adhering to all PRM, RPC, CWS and RSC Africa policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Participates in review of the CO pipeline by reviewing reports to determine CO ready cases in various locations and propose circuit ride activity to CO Supervisors.
  • Prepares for cultural orientation circuit rides by reviewing information about participants to be trained, developing lesson plans specific to those participants. In collaboration with CO Program Assistants and other circuit ride team members, coordinate the gathering and packing necessary training materials, hiring interpreters and child minders, and printing class lists and name tags
  • Conducts cultural orientation training in urban and camp locations in Rwanda and throughout Africa both in person and remotely
  • Assists in writing trip reports upon return from CO circuit rides in collaboration with other circuit ride team members for submission to CO supervisors and Managers.
  • Assists with the logistical planning in collaboration with Logistics Unit and CO supervisors.
  • Represents CWS/RSC Africa to partners in the field, ensures that standard operating procedures are being followed, and consults with CWS RSC Africa Leadership on matters of concern.
  • Updates START in a timely manner to reflect participation in CO. Actively participates in circuit ride briefings and debriefings.
  • Works on projects related to CO curriculum development, training materials development and other aspects of the CO division as assigned by Curriculum Development Supervisor
  • Performs other duties which may be assigned by the CO Supervisors, Managers and or Coordinators to enhance the efficiency and efficacy of the CO program.


Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Four (4) years paid work experience required.
  • Six (6) months experience in education or training required.
  • Two (2) years work experience in any or a combination of the following is preferred: training; field work carrying out program activities; liaising with agency partners and/or vendors; logistical experience organizing field missions.

Volume laboratory officer Under Statute at RWANDA STANDARDS BOARD (RSB): Deadline: May 11, 2023

Job Description

1. Maintain and implement laboratory management systems of Volume and flow Laboratories according to ISO/IEC 17025.
2. Prepare volume Laboratory annual action plan and submit it to the direct supervisor
3. Prepare Volume Laboratory weekly activities plan and submit it to the direct supervisor
4. Carry out Volume and flow laboratories duties according to the action plan
5. Draft calibration methods of volume and flow laboratories based on international standards or guidelines or based on principles of measurement science and techniques and submit to direct supervision for review and approval
6. Prepare and keep up-to-date Volume laboratory inventory
7. Analyses, redesigns, or adjusts measurement capability to minimize errors in Volume and flow laboratories and submit to Director for approval.
8. To conduct a market survey to support the Volume laboratory scope upgrade.
9. Prepare draft calibration/Verification certificates, Survey reports and keep raw data records.
10. Prepare and submit the progress reports of performed laboratory activity
11. Implement corrective actions to address identified non-conformity and or non-conforming work in Volume and flow laboratories
12. Ensure maintenance plan of Volume laboratory standards/equipment is implemented
13. Ensure the volume reference and working standards are handled and kept according to the requirement of the international standards
14. Ensure the customer items/Units under calibration or verification are handled and kept according to the international standards requirements and procedures in place
15. Maintain the volume laboratory tidy and organized at all times.
16. Perform any other organization-related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
