Erasmus Mundus Scholarships for partner country students

Devoted to partner country students. These scholarships will cover:

-Living allowance: a contribution for subsistence costs of 1000€/month  during 24 months*.

-Participation Costs: tuition fees and participation costs will be covered.

-Insurance health: the student will be insured.

The Logistics officer has two primary roles, support inventory management, and support Warehouse operations.

In inventory management, a logistics officer has the responsibility to prepare and accomplish inventory-related tasks. It includes preparing physical inventory counts, leading loading and returns, and quality controls activities. During input deliveries, a logistics officer verifies and reports delivery documents like TMS and delivery notes.

On warehouse operations, a Logistics officer has responsibility for leading support processes including warranty, asset management, and transport coordination. We’re looking for a passionate, dynamic, seed entrepreneur to lead our entry into the potato seed market in Rwanda. After two years of success in supporting the development of the hybrid maize seed market – now serving over 30% of national demand and over 460,000 farmers – One Acre Fund is now excited to begin diversifying our seed product offering to potato seed. We require a candidate who is willing to make it their life’s mission for the next two years to grow the best quality seed for Rwandan farmers and to navigate any challenge this process throws at them with patience, positivity and passion. This project aims to bring the highest quality potato seed to tens of thousands of Rwandan farmers. This work will create hundreds of thousands of dollars of impact by increased harvest and nutrition for farm households within the next two years.




RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Seed Department Manager you will:

Lead the development and introduction of our potato seed portfolio

  • Bring over 1000 MT of certified seed to market in our first year – enough for an estimated 10,000 farmers
  • Develop relationships with local and international providers of germplasm and existing mini-tuber suppliers to guarantee a supply of pre-basic seed
  • Select varieties to produce suitable for our market – high yield, disease resistance and ware potato characteristics
  • Develop flagship pre-basic, basic and certified seed production farm(s)
  • Develop our existing partners and new partners into quality early generation potato seed producers
  • Where beneficial/necessary build partnerships with government organizations, regulatory bodies, farm cooperatives, seed companies and other partners to ensure the success of the program
  • Work with the local authorities to ensure all seed meets the required standards:
  • Develop a lab suitable for phytosanitary testing (ELISA, PCR and seed quality testing)
  • Review current seed testing practices and capacity build where necessary to ensure the Rwandan market meets international standards
  • Work with in-country potato centres which are already working to support quality seed production with seed producers
  • Provide support on developing the technical elements on funding applications with our Business Development Team and Business Operations Lead

Develop the required infrastructure and systems for long-term success for seed potato

  • Build small-medium size cold storage units for pre-basic and basic seed storage
  • Rent or build warehousing spaces suitable for certified seed dormancy breaking
  • Develop strategy for infrastructure and investments required for long-term success of potato seed in Rwanda
  • Solve systematic potato supply chain challenges in Rwanda to grow a viable, profitable, high-quality seed business

We are looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) or field research professional to join our team as an MEL Senior Associate in Rubengera, Rwanda. As the MEL Senior Associate, you will use data to improve our operations, develop a deputy, and coordinate our MEL activities across multiple programs and teams. You will contribute to make informed decisions for our long-term strategy by working with leadership and the program team in Rwanda.

You will report to the Regional MEL Lead. The MEL Department at One Acre Fund operates as an in-house research department, and results are used to inform program decisions and rigorously understand impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Run survey design, field testing of survey instruments, and revision.
  • Improve data collection efficiency to provide actionable results.
  • Analyze data to draw early and final conclusions and write reports with recommended actions.
  • Work with the field teams to ensure MEL results and recommendations are understood and acted upon.
  • Manage the local MEL team including a Field Coordinator, MEL Specialists, and Data Manager which support a team of about 80 full-time enumerators. You will:
  • Mentor staff through field visits, meetings, training programs, and career reviews.

  • Quality–control and management of data collection processes.

We are looking for an impact evaluator or field research professional to join our team as an MEL Analyst in Kigali, Rwanda. You will use data to improve our operations, develop a deputy, and coordinate our research activities across multiple programs and teams. You will contribute to make informed decisions for our long-term strategy by working with leadership and the Impact Venture (IV) team in Rwanda.

Responsibilities

  • Design studies, run field testing of survey instruments, and advise different Business Units on trial design and MEL requirements.

Placing women’s rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.

UN Women Rwanda has been working with the Government, UN Partners, Civil Society, the Private Sector, Development Partners, and other key partners to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in the country through its programmes.

The country focuses on three main priority/impact areas from UN Women Global Strategic Plan (2018-2021): namely women lead, participate in and benefit equally from governance systems (focusing on women’s leadership and representation in local governance and in the private sector).

Description of responsibilities

Under direct supervision of the Country Representative, the Communications and Knowledge Management Officer will lead the implementation of the Country Office communications and advocacy strategies to increase the standing and awareness of UN Women with partners, the media and the public as well as the successful organization of key strategic events in which UN Women is involved in.

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Lead the formulation and implementation of the Communications and Advocacy Strategy;
  • Support Programme and Operations staff on Communications;
  • Coordinate the preparation of key global, regional, and nations events, including commemoration of key days such as the International Women’s Day and the 16Days of activism against Gender Based Violence;
  • Lead the implementation of UN Women’s corporate campaigns such as HeForShe, Generation Equality and Step It Up Global Media Compact;
  • Liaise with the United Nations Communications Group (UNCG) and the UN Women Regional and Headquarters Communications Team to feed national initiatives into corporate communications initiatives and vice versa.

The Communications and Knowledge Management will more specifically be expected to:

Provide substantive support to the planning and design of external communication and outreach/advocacy strategies and plans

  • Integrate communication, advocacy, and outreach strategies into proposals for project/programmes and other initiatives, as necessary;
  • Drafting and disseminating quarterly newsletters and media clippings to relevant partners;
  • Organize or join field missions to collect materials for human interest stories (testimonies, photos, videos);

Coordinate and contribute substantively to the development and dissemination of advocacy materials

  • Ensure timely production of quality communication products such as articles, photographs, and videos to support implementation of the CO’s communication strategy, regional and global campaigns, and resource mobilization;
  • Ensure development of at least two human interest story per month for UN Women and ONE UN websites;
  • Draft briefing materials, and press releases and coordinate its dissemination through effective channels;
  • Draft and edit articles for websites, donor reports and other publications;
  • Promote and disseminate corporate advocacy materials for launching initiatives, publications, and campaigns;
  • Provide support in developing communication materials (i.e. social media graphics, infographics and presentations);
  • Coordinate the translation/adaption/rewriting of information received, printing and dissemination of publications and audio-visual materials;

Coordinate media relations for the Country Office

  • Maintain list of relevant media and media persons. The list should cover disaggregated information by sex, geography, beats covered etc;
  • Respond to inquiries for public and UN system information materials;
  • Organize roundtable discussions, press conferences and briefing session for press, as required;
  • Coordinate the Step It Up Media Compact in Rwanda;
  • Draft talking points.

Manage the Country Office’s web/ online presence

  • Manage CO’s social media accounts in line with corporate social media policy;
  • Monitor and analyze print and social media and provide analysis to CO/RO/HQ.

Effective participation to the UNCG meetings and contribute to the efforts of Communicating as One and mainstreaming gender in the ONE UN communications

  • Conduct comprehensive media monitoring of UN Women’s work in the media and share stories on gender equality and women’s empowerment with programme staff to inform programming and partnerships;
  • Coordinate and provide videography and photography documentation of all UN Women initiatives/activities and manage the country office Flickr account;
  • Develop and maintain the country office repository system that contains all publications by the Country Office and IPs.

 BACKGROUND 

ICAP at Columbia University works in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MoH) through Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) to support the implementation of high-quality comprehensive HIV programmes in Rwanda.
With the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, ICAP has launched a new multi-country learning network aimed at enhancing the coverage, quality, and impact of HIV services in sub-Saharan Africa. The HIV Coverage, Quality and Impact Network (CQUIN) aims to enhance HIV programs by supporting health ministries to scale up ‘Differentiated Service Delivery’ program models. CQUIN is designed to foster south-to-south learning and provision of technical assistance to Ministries of Health and other partners engaged in the design, implementation, and evaluation of differentiated HIV programs.




The Differentiated Service Delivery Advisor, seconded to Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), will support RBC and MOH to expand DSD services in Rwanda. Reporting to the Director of HIV & AIDS Division s/he will liase closely with ICAP CQUIN staff, supporting the global CQUIN Project team when necessary in efforts to successfully implement the learning network and to disseminate results.

This position is grant funded.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the planning and management of HIV/AIDS program, in order to strengthen the integration of Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD) models into national policies, plans, goals, and priorities;
  • Support planning, development, definition, and review of policies, norms, and guidelines for DSD models in partnership with implementing partners. Specifically, the DSD Advisor will lead the national implementation of the DSD models policy guidelines customized and adapted in Rwandan context, working with relevant stakeholders to develop implementation plan, job aides, SOPs, and communication strategies
  • Convene regular National Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD) sub-TWG to provide technical guidance, coordinate implementation and monitoring of DSD scale up
  • Work with the DSD TWG and other relevant stakeholders to plan, develop necessary tools, coordinate and support implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement for DSD, including facilitating QI projects and development of IEC materials
  • In collaboration with HMIS Unit in the MoH, the DSD Advisor will ensure that the national M&E tools are up to date and effectively being used to collect, report, monitor and evaluate DSD in Rwanda

EE Officers

PURPOSE:

The EE Head is responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of the Economic Empowerment activities, which provide women tools to achieve their economic independence in respect of strategic and action plans. The EE Head has overall responsibility for supervising staff, managing the allocated budget, as well as coordinating activities on a day-to-day basis. S/he will work with the Program Manager to plan, execute, and report on all EE projects as per grant and organizational requirements.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

 Reports to: Progamme Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Economic Empowerment Program Management

  • Works in collaboration with the Program Manager to oversee and manage all program components related to EE activities and with a focus on employment and self-employment goals being met, and ensure the program is carried out in accordance with mission, goals, and terms and conditions of relevant grants.
  • Prepares Monthly Income Generating reports and submits to Program Manager and CD by the required date (1st week of the following month).
  • Oversees the EE strategy operating plans in coordination with the Program Manager and CD.
  • Supervises all EE activities with a focus on quality control and impact.
  • Supervises EE staff and ensures that vocational trainings are aligned with market-driven employment and self-employment opportunities in Country
  • Support target groups to master and utilize the digitalized VSLA systems, support the establishment of a VSLA Federation, and provide linkages to the formal financial sector;
  • Oversees EE monitoring and evaluation in collaboration with the Monitoring & Evaluation Team Lead.
  • Supervise the management of WfWI graduate networks (in terms of capacity building and general organization)
  •  Provide professional value chain orientation by supporting entrepreneurs & groups to engage with and work up the value chains in the business sectors that they are engaged in;
  •  Identifies, develops, and expands strategies and partnerships with organizations and technical assistance partners to enable income generation for WfWI program participants and graduates.
  • Expands and strengthens staff EE Capacity with on-going training and guidance.
  • Oversees implementation and analysis on EE assessments, including on-going market assessments, feasibility studies, business plans, etc.
  •  Contribute to the design of project activities for concept notes and proposal development processes by providing technical inputs (i.e.log-frames, program descriptions, activities, and budgets)

Communication and Teamwork

  •  Identifies, develops, and expands strategies and partnerships with organizations and technical assistance partners to enable income generation for WfWI program participants and graduates.
  •  Works with local businesses to create internship and apprentice opportunities for participants and graduates.
  •  Responsible for efficient and effective use of allocated budget and compliance with finance procedures
  •  Participate in internal meetings and processes to represent the EE teams as needed.

Personnel Management:

  • Supervise, guide, and manage EE staff
  •  Initiate performance management of staff in the area of EE
  •  Set annual performance of EE in collaboration with EE team under the leadership of program manager
  • Ensure performance management of personnel of the EE meet the requirements of the WfWR
  • Conduct annual performance appraisal of EE staff subjected to the approval of program manager and the ED of WfWR.
  • Conduct regular (i.e., weekly, monthly meeting) regarding progress throughout the year.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training to subordinates

Planning and organizing

  •  Organize and streamline the planning of EE work in collaboration with the program manager
  • Align the EE to the WfWR goals and annual plan
  • Develop in collaboration with the EE team the EE annual, monthly, and weekly plans
  •  Initiate the implementation strategy of EE programs to ensure women are successfully empowered and economically sustained

Creating and developing

  •  Initiate economic empowerment interventions relevant to empower women to transform their daily lives
  • Develop, support, and sustain community economic initiatives to empower women
  • Build the capacity of women in the community to initiate, own, build and sustain development interventions to ensure they are fully socially and economic empowered

Quality control

  • Provide standards of quality work (i.e., protocols, criteria for selecting women beneficiaries, standards meaning to what extend the work should be qualified as excellent, etc.)
  • Establish a quality control mechanism to ensure EE work meet high standard and objectives of WfWR to empower women at the community
  • Work on quality criteria to ensure EE meet the expected results at the community and empower women

Capacity Building

  Conduct a regular capacity assessment of the EE team

  • Provide on-the-job training (i.e., internal one-hour session, working sessions, evaluating special cases and share experiences, provide advice to staff and respond to staff concerns and questions.)
  • Conduct EE training needs assessment annually
  •  Advocate for EE staff capacity building interventions
  •  Train and provide coaching mentorship to women beneficiaries of the EE program to ensure ownership and sustainability

Monitoring and reporting

  •  Monitoring the implementation of EE activities
  • Guide the EE data collection and analysis
  • Ensure community participation throughout the implementation of EE plans
  • Establish a reporting system with clear milestone and deadlines
  • Produce regularly all EE reports (i.e., weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Business administration, development studies, economics, or relevant field;
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience as a manager in a relevant field, preferably within the NGO/INGO organization or relevant experience in the private sector;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as a part of a team and to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff and participants.
  • Ability to understand the needs of target clients and align programming accordingly;
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of gender issues and proven commitment to addressing gender inequalities in all key areas of responsibility;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Experience managing staff and working in cross-departmental, cross-country contexts with a proven record of building, managing, and working with virtual teams and creating an enabling environment.
  • Excellent spoken and written English to include research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience building the capacity of staff.
  •  Independent, can coordinate with others to produce proposals on deadline.
  •  Excellent budget management skills.
  • Computer skills including working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email

Village Enterprise targets the poor, provides business training, seed capital/startup funds and on-going mentoring to over 10,000 new entrepreneurs to start 3,000 enterprises each year. About the Job: 

Village Enterprise is seeking a candidate who will manage Business Mentors in the sector to successfully carry out core program implementation in support of implementation of Village Enterprise Mission and vision.  Candidate will support additional core program efforts as needed. This is a split, field/office position, requiring ~60% time in the field and ~40% time in the office. A minimum time commitment of one year is required.




Job Description:

Business Mentor Activities:

  • Manage all Business Mentors (BMs) in your region, ensuring high-quality Core Program implementation
  • Regular field visits (3-4 days a week) to assess training and mentoring by the Business Mentors and overall performance of businesses and carry out at least 6 business spot-checks per week.
  • Spearhead the Village opening process in the sector.
  • Guide Business mentor on SBs and PRs grant applications for viable businesses and approve prior to submitting them to the Country Manager for review
  • Ensure BMs work plans are developed, followed and timely shared through a google sheet

Bi-weekly meetings and Induction Training for BMs

  • Prepare bi-weekly meeting and agendas, and ensure they are timely update and sharing through a goggle sheet.
  • Train BMs on new forms that need to be collected, constantly reinforcing the importance and value of the data we collect and helping BMs troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Work with M&E during each biweekly meeting to confirm that the BMs have collected the proper forms and confirm their upload to the database.
  • Lead and conduct Induction Training/onboarding for new BMs. This includes working closely with departments to prepare agenda, schedule Field Visits, prepare materials
  • Work with Finance & Administration to ensure that all, induction and bi-weekly materials are printed or made available in a timely manner

Reporting Program Reporting

  • Work with the Country Manager to Collect, Develop, validate, consolidate, revise and submit BM work plans in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor the collection of Mentoring logs and activity reports on behalf of the organization.
  • Submit reports and minutes of any meeting attended on behalf of Village Enterprise.
  • Ensure updated reports on attendance is tracked.

Managing Partnerships

  • Help establish a relationship with Local Government officials, community leaders and other stakeholders.
  • The Field Associate represents the organization at sector and cell program meetings in consultation with the Country Manager.
  • Provide Management with reports and feedback from sector meetings and partnership meetings as needed within three days after the meeting.
  • Support the BMs to register all Business Savings Groups with relevant government authorities at various levels.
  • Develop and implement -District and Sector entry and Facilitate expansion strategy to new areas of operation in collaboration with the Country Manager.

  • Work with the Country Manager to conduct performance reviews for BMs
  • Assist with the improvement and development of monitoring activities and materials for business mentors.

Management and Administration:

  • The Field Associate ensures that Village Enterprise procedures and donor regulations applicable to a project implemented in the area of operation concerning program, logistics, fraud control, protection of vulnerable groups and special interest groups in collaboration with the DTM and CM.
  • The Field Associate is responsible for overseeing the management of day-to-day field operations including monitoring and reporting on staff attendance, staff leave and authorization of minor emergency field expenses in consultation with the CM and DTM as required.

Logistics:

  • Field Associate is in charge of overseeing and reporting on the logistics the field team including enforcement of field safety guidelines and adherence.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting equipment usage and storage, planning, and maintenance of equipment and the functioning of the means of communication appropriate for the respective field staff.

BUFMAR is a non-governmental organization created in 1975 by Christians. It is registered, as an NGO in accordance with law No 20/2000 of 26/07/2000 and law No. 04/2012 of 17/02/2012. The organizational mission is to contribute to the well-being of the Rwandan population by providing quality health services.

BUFMAR contributes to attainment of the ministry of Health’s strategic objectives through procurement, distribution of quality pharmaceutical products and medical equipment to Health facilities.

Purpose

BUFMAR received a grant from a Belgian Development Agency/ ENABEL objective is to reinforce capacities of targeted community Health Workers (CHWs) and Health Facility (HF) staff in inventory management of FP/ASRH and MNCH commodities, to reinforce stock management, monitoring, and reporting processes and to institutionalize the monitoring and management of stock for those commodities.

The project will be implemented in health facilities (Hospitals, health centers, secondary health posts) and within the community (through community health workers covering health sectors) in the following seven supported districts; Rusizi, Nyamasheke, Karongi, Gisagara, Gakenke, Rulindo, and Nyarugenge 




Principal duties and responsibilities

To ensue effective implementation of ENABEL project, BUFMAR need to recruit one District supervisor/ officer who will be based in each district of the implementation for period of 2 years non-renewable. The officer will be experienced in any area related to reproductive health, Adolescent and Sexual Reproductive Health, Maternal child and newborn health, Health commodities, forecasting, procurement, and supply chain management.

The specific responsibilities of the proposed officers will include;

1. Day today coordination of project activities at the decentralized level;

2. Facilitate the  coordination meetings at the District level;

3. Organize the review meetings with JADF at the district level.

4. Participate in the planning process and provide technical support during the planned trainings and mentorship of the health facilities staff and community health workers.

5. Collaborate with District and other key stakeholders to ensure that they are fully engaged in project interventions.

6. Coordinate project activities implementation in the catchment areas (in health facilities of seven Districts of project implementation and within community (CHWS)).

 7. Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly reports from health facilities supported by the project 8. Participate in monthly and quarterly evaluation of Health Facilities and Community Health Workers.

9. Ensure close follow and support the health facilities to implement of recommendations of the evaluation findings.

10. Actively involved in the documentation of the project best practices or most significant success stories related to project. And among other responsibilities
