Overview of the Organization

UNABU stands for Umuryango Nyarwanda w’Abagore Bafite Ubumuga, translated into English as the Rwandan Organisation of Women with disabilities. It is a non-governmental organization aiming at promoting gender equality and the removal of various barriers preventing girls and women with disabilities from fully enjoying their human rights and participating in the country’s development. The organization was established in 2004 women with various disabilities and for women with disabilities envisioning a world where “Women with disabilities enjoy equal and equitable opportunities and actively participate in the country’s development. UNABU empowers girls and women with disabilities to become agent of change, to demand their rights, and to affirm their dignity as human beings.

Since its creation the organization has been implementing projects of capacity building of local groups of women with disabilities, strengthening the voices of women with disabilities in community development and empowering individual women with disabilities in income generating activities, human right, gender and gender based violence in Rwanda.

 Job Purpose Statement

UNABU seeks to hire a highly qualified, dedicated, and experienced Deputy Executive Director in Charge of Finance for financial and administrative services for UNABU and will provide strategic organizational guidance to further develop UNABU as a financially sound organization. The Deputy Executive Director in Charge of Finance will provide strategic organizational leadership in planning, supervise and or conduct all financial operations, and manage the administrative performance for UNABU. S/he will serve as key member of UNABU staff team responsible for the project’s administrative and financial management and reporting, human resources, and procurement, while ensuring compliance with UNABU’s donors’ regulations and agreements as well as local laws.  Deputy Executive Director in charge of finance works closely with the Executive Director and the projects managers for fundraising

1. Key roles and Responsibilities

The Deputy Executive Director in charge of finance will work directly under the supervision of the Executive Director and work closely with project officers and other UNABU staff. S/he will be responsible for the following tasks:

1.1. Strategic Management and Leadership 

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Deputy Executive Director in Charge of Finance will be responsible for the strategic directions of UNABU.
  • Support management of the organization’s strategic plan, budget and fundraising strategy.
  • Supervise and mentor senior staff to ensure quality work and accountability.
  • Ensure the operationalization and adherence to all UNABU and donors’ policies and procedures.
  • Create a supportive environment that fosters personal responsibility and commitment to UNABU’s goals and values.

1.2.Operational Management 

  • Direct and manage the overall operations of Rwandan Organization of Women with Disabilities.
  • Oversee the financial management and be responsible for ensuring quality and integrity of the systems and policies.
  • Oversee all procurement and local contracting processes and ensure compliance with the organizational Procurement and contracts policies, donors’ procurement  rules and regulations
  • Oversee human resource management at Rwandan Organization of Women with Disabilities supervise human resources personnel to develop and ensure that all personnel are managed in compliance with manuals and local labour laws.
  • Support and oversight to the team in all program fundraising, planning, and budgeting
  • Coordinate the process of preparation of financial reports to be submitted to donors and General Assembly
  • Contribute effectively to the overall strategic visioning, conceptual development, planning, and monitoring of UNABU’ work.
  • Ensure accurate project budgeting and expenditure projections, quarterly financial analyses (projections against actual), and the development of annual operating plan budget for approval by UNABU’s board and General assembly ;
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance team, and senior management team; assess any changes necessary.
  • Update and implement all necessary policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.

1.3.  Human resource Administration 

  • Coordinate UNABU’s staff and consultant recruitment plan and process
  • Organize capacity building sessions for UNABU’s members and staff in relation to finance and administration as well as various policies ;
  • Coordinate in collaboration with accountant monthly payroll and other payments requests related to procurement and acquisition of services
  • Ensure UNABU’s staff files are appropriately  filed and updated

1.4.  Internal and External Relations 

  • Facilitate internal processes for UNABU staff that build skills and commitment to organizational values and social justice.
  • Demonstrate effective, values driven leadership to all UNABU staff.
  • Foster a conducive environment that is transparent, accountable, and supportive.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director in charge of programs and projects managers on strategic decisions and leadership of UNABU.
  • Represent UNABU at national processes and events in Rwanda and beyond.
  • Contribute to maintaining UNABU’ good strategic relationships and partnerships at national and international level in collaboration with the Executive Director.

1.5. Reporting 

  • The Deputy Executive Director in Charge of Administration and Finance will lead all UNABU’s operations and oversee programming. S/he will report to the Executive Director of UNABU.
  • The Human resources and administration officer, accountant will report directly to the Deputy Executive Director in Charge of Administration and Finance

2. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION 

The successful candidate will demonstrate effective financial management experience in national and International NGOs as well as proven experience in accounting, administration, and procumbent. S/he  should possess

  • Master’s degree desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or similar field required; minimum of five (5) years of experience with national and International NGOs in financial management and administration, grants management, and contractual technical assistance services experience also highly desirable.   • Minimum of three (3) years working experience in a supervisory role related to accounting, payroll, procurement, and logistical support services;
  • Work experience providing contractual and financial oversight to UK Aid and UN funded projects;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment;
  • Detail-oriented, and ability to prioritize tasks and support program implementation while ensuring adherence to required policies and protocols;

The primary responsibility of the Socio-Economic Empowerment Coordinator is to provide technical support to the projects and program implementation through field project activities planning and implementation and building the capacity of community mobilization volunteers change leaders and monitor the implementation and contribute to organizational compliance.

In collaboration with the Deputy Executive Director in charge of Programs, MEAL, and projects managers, Socio-Economic Empowerment Coordinator will establish and maintain excellent relationships with key project stakeholders including but not limited to local leaders, community mobilization volunteers, and GBV and justice service providers as well as girls and women with disabilities themselves as primary beneficiaries.

The Socio-Economic Empowerment Coordinator reports to the Deputy Executive Director in Charge of Programs and is based in Kigali office with more than 80% working time spent on the field.

1.  KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1.1. Providetechnical support to the projects and programs planning and implementation :

  • Coordinate all projects awareness-raising and training activities in collaboration with the project managers and officers
  • Coordinate the projects training activities, training guides development, and harmonization of self-advocacy groups training manuals, IEC materials at the organizational level
  • Coordinate young girls leadership development initiatives at organizational level
  • Coordinate self advocacy groups training activities in  financial literacy and business skills development trainings and ensure effective management  of distributed seed capital and support to self advocacy groups
  • Coordinate and facilitate self advocacy groups linkages to existing community support services and opportunities
  • Provide technical advice on strategies and directions and projects priorities based on project goal and UNABU vision and mission National strategy.
  • Communicate the organization Visionary plans to the local leaders, strategic stakeholders and community mobilization volunteers change leaders;

1.2. Building the  capacity of UNABU’s partners and stakeholders

  • Coordinate capacity building programs for UNABU’s strategic partners, stakeholders, and community mobilization volunteers to ensure they affectively contribute to the significant change in the   life of girls and women with disabilities
  • Coordinate disability mainstreaming into other partners women’s rights and GBV programs implementation
  • Assess stakeholders and Projects community mobilization volunteers capacity development needs and coordinate capacity building plans implementation through coaching and mentoring
  • In collaboration with the projects managers, carry out performance appraisals for the community mobilization volunteers on a regular basis
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to projects staff, partners and community mobilization volunteers on gender and disability inclusion sensitivity and approaches

1.3. Financial Resources management 

  • Contribute to the projects budgeting process including preparation of periodic budgets, cash request, and justification
  • Assist in the Proposal writing, working closely with Deputy Executive Director in charge of programs, Project Managers, MEAL for the intervention design

1.4. Networking  and  Representing UNABU

  • Carrying out stakeholder analysis in order to identify individuals, organisations, and institutions with whom relationships need to be built
  • Ensure and strengthening partnership with local authorities, women empowerment, and GBV stakeholders.
  • Ensure that project required reports  in the district where the projects are being  implemented are timely submitted to rights  stakeholders for the purpose of  celebrating successes and sharing lessons learned
  • Keeping up to date with standards of professionalism and UNABU’s expectations concerning personal behaviour and values; at all times acting accordingly

1.5. Quality ,Learning & Knowledge Management

  • Actively participate in reflection session on the projects implementation, documentation of UNABU’s project experiences and achievements
  • In collaboration with MEAL , lead on social impact monitoring, evaluation, and data collection tool development in  accordance with the projects results frameworks
  • Coordinate gender based violence identified and reported cases management
  • Ensure collected information about violence cases across all the projects  is documented and stored appropriately in accordance with confidentiality and safety principles;
  • Participate in the ongoing project planned assessments and evaluation activities

Job Summary:

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and monitor sound accounting and financial reporting procedures for INECD Project staff following established standards. Ensure setup and maintenance of all data required for processing financial transactions for assigned project.
  • Review and validate supporting documentation before processing of financial transactions to ensure all required documents are accurate and complete and authorizations are in place.

The Sanitation Officer will support and implement sanitation marketing approaches to sustainable sanitation in Rwanda, within AEE Rwanda focus districts.

Job Summary

The Sanitation Officer will support and drive the implementation of market-based approaches in sanitation, an initiative which seeks to facilitate private sector development and increase access to sustainable urban and rural sanitation through local market channels.

The successful candidate will develop, pilot, and support the national rollout of successful and affordable sanitation technologies and work with relevant institutions, districts, and local sanitation entrepreneurs and operators of District Sanitation Centers to create a sustainable supply chain for sanitation products and services in Rwanda.

3. Major responsibilities and duties

 The Sanitation Facilitator / Project Officer will specifically perform the following tasks:

  • Conduct assessment on households’ needs and preferences for improved sanitation and hygiene products and services.
  • Work with local leaders and institutions responsible for sanitation to identify existing entrepreneurs, both individuals and companies, local masons and technicians running sanitation business in each of the AEE’s focus districts, discuss sanitation business, and get their areas of interest and commitment to providing sanitation services.
  • Work with sanitation local entrepreneurs, technicians, and local artisans to design prototypes of appropriate sanitation products.
  • Develop targeted marketing and distribution plans for sanitation and hygiene products and services.
  • Test and evaluate the effectiveness of new sanitation technologies and approaches to sustainable onsite and offsite sanitation and work with the government and other interested sector stakeholders to roll out successful technologies/approaches.
  • Support establishment of a sustainable supply chain for sanitation products and services, to ensure that they are available in each sector/cell where households can purchase them near their homes.

Position Roles and Responsibilities

1. Project planning and implementation (45% LoE)

  • Under supervision of the IUWA Sanitation Project Manager, the National Project Coordinator will lead and coordinate planning and implementation of rural sanitation activities—demand creation and financing for market-based sanitation—under component 3 of IUWA WASH Project approved proposal and work plans, and in compliance with relevant donor guidelines, quality standards and best practices in market-based sanitation.
  • Collaborate with IUWA WASH consortium members to ensure utilization of relevant resources, tools, and materials.
  • Coordinate the development and alignment of the detailed implementation plan and approved budget
  • Provide support to respective field teams in timely fashion to ensure implementation and achievement of agreed milestones.
  • Champion implementation of the sanitation marketing strategy in collaboration with District sanitation centers, sanitation product entrepreneurs, and other actors as appropriate.
  • Facilitate mobilization and capacity building of identified community structures such as hygiene focal points, village agents, Village Savings and Loan Associations, District Sanitation Centers, and Community Hygiene Clubs to ensure delivery of project results.
  • Strengthen linkages between VSLAs, MFIs and sanitation entrepreneurs to increase access to affordable rural sanitation finance and sanitation products.
  • Ensure implementation of the social and behavior change strategy, promote adoption of key WASH behaviors, and address harmful gender norms that prevent women and girls from benefitting from WASH investments
  • Conduct regular progress reviews on implementation, identify challenges and capacity gaps, and ensure timely flow of information to respective Program Coordinators/Managers.
  • Together with finance and administration, lead the preparation of appropriate documentation for procurement of goods and services and ensure effective utilization of project resources in accordance with donor and AEE guidelines
  • Effectively participate and contribute to joint planning and review sessions with consortium partners/teams

2. Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning (35% LOE)

  • Participate in the development of technical and innovation tools related to market-based sanitation and hygiene interventions, in collaboration with respective MEL, Quality Assurance, and component leads and technical advisors.
  • Collaborate with respective program teams to undertake assessments, reviews, and evaluations that capture the priorities of targeted communities.
  • Ensure roll out and application of relevant MEL procedures and activities including the use of approved monitoring tools to collect data
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits, provide feedback and recommendations to relevant Program and Management teams as appropriate
  • Both formal and information reporting and learning related to what is working and what is not working at the field/community-level for the market-based sanitation and sanitation financing approaches will be needed. The national coordinator will be the primary liaison for communicating these findings and needed program adaptations to CARE and the IUWA consortium.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of quality monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and/or annual technical and financial reports for internal and external purposes; clearly capturing implementation status against agreed work plans and results.

3. Staff management and capacity building (15% LoE)

  • Supervise field coordinators, field officers, and M&E Officer, strengthening their capacities and ensuring regular performance management.
  • Identify capacity building needs of the team and coordinate capacity building initiatives as appropriate
  • Ensure staff adhere to AEE policies, code of conduct as well as rules and regulations upheld by the consortium

4. Coordination and Representation (5% LoE)

  • Represent AEE in relevant forums and meetings, both internal and external, and provide timely information and feedback to relevant program and management teams

Qualifications:

Desired skills:

  • At least a degree in international development, WASH, finance, public health, business, education, or another relevant/related field

AEE works closely with CRS Rwanda to promote Inclusive Nutrition and Early Childhood Development initiatives in both rural and urban settings.

Job Summary:

The Inclusive Nutrition and Early Childhood Development (INECD) activity will promote nurturing and responsive care practices, especially in the areas of health, functioning, nutrition, and early childhood development (ECD) for caregivers and children. Specifically, the activity aims to improve health and nutrition outcomes among women of reproductive age and adolescents and improve infant and young child feeding practices. It also aims to address child development gaps and significant unmet physical rehabilitation and assistive technology (rehab/AT), and social inclusion needs for infants and children. The activity will focus on community-level service delivery, community-health facility linkages, and district-level capacity development, as well as address issues of inclusion and participation, including access to programs and services for children and adults with disabilities, in line with Government of Rwanda priorities.

AEE seeks a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to handle her portion of INECD aspects of monitoring and evaluation (M&E). The M&E Officer shall implement strategies designed to assure the quality of data collection, collation, entry, analysis, and reporting through consistent application of the existing monitoring and evaluation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other guidelines.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring and evaluation project performance in accordance with the logical framework and reporting requirements.
  • Receive, review, analyze, validate, enter/code, and store various program data streams as submitted by field operations staff. Prepare and collate these into relevant formats for preparing reports and feedback for decision support.
  • Share analyses and trends with project team members to help synchronize project decision-making processes with M&E results.

The M&E Officer shall implement strategies designed to assure the quality of data collection, collation, entry, analysis, and reporting through consistent application of the existing monitoring and evaluation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other guidelines.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring and evaluation project performance in accordance with the logical framework and reporting requirements.
  • Receive, review, analyze, validate, enter/code, and store various program data streams as submitted by field operations staff. Prepare and collate these into relevant formats for preparing reports and feedback for decision support.
  • Share analyses and trends with project team members to help synchronize project decision-making processes with M&E results.
  • Ensure M&E information is shared and flows transparently within the project team and to other organizational levels as appropriate.

African Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE) is a Christian local relief, development, and advocacy organization established in 1987 and dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities to address root causes of poverty and injustice. AEE works closely with CARE to improve rural sanitation and handwashing services and products. AEE with its partner CARE will promote market-based sanitation.

Isooko y’Ubuzima WASH Activity (IUWA) is a five-year USAID funded project that aims to improve access to water and sanitation services. The project will focus on 3 main components led by different consortium members: (1) Improving Decentralized WASH Governance; (2) Improving Rural Drinking Water Services and (3) Improving Rural Sanitation and Handwashing Services and Products.

Position Roles and Responsibilities

1. Project planning and implementation (45% LoE)

  • Under supervision of the IUWA Sanitation Project Manager, the National Project Coordinator will lead and coordinate planning and implementation of rural sanitation activities—demand creation and financing for market-based sanitation—under component 3 of IUWA WASH Project approved proposal and work plans, and in compliance with relevant donor guidelines, quality standards and best practices in market-based sanitation.
  • Collaborate with IUWA WASH consortium members to ensure utilization of relevant resources, tools, and materials.
  • Coordinate the development and alignment of the detailed implementation plan and approved budget
  • Provide support to respective field teams in timely fashion to ensure implementation and achievement of agreed milestones.
  • Champion implementation of the sanitation marketing strategy in collaboration with District sanitation centers, sanitation product entrepreneurs, and other actors as appropriate.
  • Facilitate mobilization and capacity building of identified community structures such as hygiene focal points, village agents, Village Savings and Loan Associations, District Sanitation Centers, and Community Hygiene Clubs to ensure delivery of project results.
  • Strengthen linkages between VSLAs, MFIs and sanitation entrepreneurs to increase access to affordable rural sanitation finance and sanitation products.
  • Ensure implementation of the social and behavior change strategy, promote adoption of key WASH behaviors, and address harmful gender norms that prevent women and girls from benefitting from WASH investments
  • Conduct regular progress reviews on implementation, identify challenges and capacity gaps, and ensure timely flow of information to respective Program Coordinators/Managers.
  • Together with finance and administration, lead the preparation of appropriate documentation for procurement of goods and services and ensure effective utilization of project resources in accordance with donor and AEE guidelines
  • Effectively participate and contribute to joint planning and review sessions with consortium partners/teams

2. Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning (35% LOE)

  • Participate in the development of technical and innovation tools related to market-based sanitation and hygiene interventions, in collaboration with respective MEL, Quality Assurance, and component leads and technical advisors.
  • Collaborate with respective program teams to undertake assessments, reviews, and evaluations that capture the priorities of targeted communities.
  • Ensure roll out and application of relevant MEL procedures and activities including the use of approved monitoring tools to collect data
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits, provide feedback and recommendations to relevant Program and Management teams as appropriate
  • Both formal and information reporting and learning related to what is working and what is not working at the field/community-level for the market-based sanitation and sanitation financing approaches will be needed. The national coordinator will be the primary liaison for communicating these findings and needed program adaptations to CARE and the IUWA consortium.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of quality monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and/or annual technical and financial reports for internal and external purposes; clearly capturing implementation status against agreed work plans and results.




3. Staff management and capacity building (15% LoE)

  • Supervise field coordinators, field officers, and M&E Officer, strengthening their capacities and ensuring regular performance management.
  • Identify capacity building needs of the team and coordinate capacity building initiatives as appropriate
  • Ensure staff adhere to AEE policies, code of conduct as well as rules and regulations upheld by the consortium

4. Coordination and Representation (5% LoE)

  • Represent AEE in relevant forums and meetings, both internal and external, and provide timely information and feedback to relevant program and management teams
  • Ensure coordination and collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the project sites

Qualifications:

Desired skills:

  • At least a degree in international development, WASH, finance, public health, business, education, or another relevant/related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in relevant field-based project management position with at least 2 in implementing market-based and/or community mobilization approaches, preferably in WASH sector
  • Experience with community mobilization, community finance and savings, social marketing, and behavior change marketing campaigns preferably in health and WASH sectors
  • Proven track record in project planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and financial management.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience working with VSLAs and/or micro-finance institutions is an added advantage.

AEE works closely with CARE International to improve rural sanitation and handwashing services and products. AEE with its partner CARE will promote market-based sanitation.

Background and program objectives

Isooko y’Ubuzima WASH Activity (IUWA) is a five-year USAID-funded project that aims to improve access to water and sanitation services. The project will focus on 3 main components led by different consortium members: (1) Improving Decentralized WASH Governance; (2) Improving Rural Drinking Water Services and (3) Improving Rural Sanitation and Handwashing Services and Products. The Sanitation Officer will support and implement sanitation marketing approaches to sustainable sanitation in Rwanda, within AEE Rwanda focus districts.




Job Summary

The Sanitation Officer will support and drive the implementation of market-based approaches in sanitation, an initiative which seeks to facilitate private sector development and increase access to sustainable urban and rural sanitation through local market channels.

The successful candidate will develop, pilot, and support the national rollout of successful and affordable sanitation technologies and work with relevant institutions, districts, and local sanitation entrepreneurs and operators of District Sanitation Centers to create a sustainable supply chain for sanitation products and services in Rwanda.

3. Major responsibilities and duties

 The Sanitation Facilitator / Project Officer will specifically perform the following tasks:

  • Conduct assessment on households’ needs and preferences for improved sanitation and hygiene products and services.
  • Work with local leaders and institutions responsible for sanitation to identify existing entrepreneurs, both individuals and companies, local masons and technicians running sanitation business in each of the AEE’s focus districts, discuss sanitation business, and get their areas of interest and commitment to providing sanitation services.
  • Work with sanitation local entrepreneurs, technicians, and local artisans to design prototypes of appropriate sanitation products.
  • Develop targeted marketing and distribution plans for sanitation and hygiene products and services.
  • Test and evaluate the effectiveness of new sanitation technologies and approaches to sustainable onsite and offsite sanitation and work with the government and other interested sector stakeholders to roll out successful technologies/approaches.
  • Support establishment of a sustainable supply chain for sanitation products and services, to ensure that they are available in each sector/cell where households can purchase them near their homes.
  • Contribute to expansion of the marketing and or sales efforts
  • Increase linkages between various sanitation entrepreneurs and customers
  • Sensitize VSLA members on WASH products, and various financial Products they can use to purchase them,
  • Contribute to the elaboration of training modules for sanitation marketing.
  • Document successes in sanitation marketing approaches and support roll-out regionwide.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have a degree level of science in environmental health, public Health, Nursing or other relevant area of study.
  • Must be a Rwandese
  • At least 3 years of experience in the sanitation area.
  • Must have an experience in sanitation related project implementation.
  • Have experience in WASH networks and strong relationship management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and excellent written and analytic skills, report writing, networking, and representation.

Job Summary:

You will help coordinate and contribute to the implementation of the AEE policies and procedures in compliance with AEE’s established accounting standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), donors’ rules and regulations, and legal requirements to support high-quality programs serving the poor and vulnerable. You will efficiently perform accounting services through documenting AEE’s financial transactions by compiling, analyzing, and verifying account information, preparing account entries, and delivering financial reporting services.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and monitor sound accounting and financial reporting procedures for INECD Project staff following established standards. Ensure setup and maintenance of all data required for processing financial transactions for assigned project.
  • Review and validate supporting documentation before processing of financial transactions to ensure all required documents are accurate and complete and authorizations are in place.
  • Record financial transactions following appropriate authorizations. Review and analyze various accounts to detect irregularities. Advise on corrective actions and prepare correcting entries and adjustments, as necessary.
  • Assess, evaluate, and monitor financial management processes in accordance with policy and strengthen the capacity of project staff in financial accounting and transactions.
  • Monitor burn rate and alert relevant AEE staff of due payments/liquidations and maintain appropriate communication and follow-up to facilitate timeliness of financial resource management and compliance with set deadlines.
  • Prepare various periodic and ad hoc financial reports and perform variance analysis to assist AEE staff with decision-making. Assist with budget maintenance for proper management of financial resources.

Basic Qualifications

  • Previous experience ensuring compliance on USAID or other large donor contracts.
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience, ideally with NGOs, with progressive responsibility in operations and/or programming. At least 3 of these years entailing audit, compliance, or risk management experience.

Purpose of the position:

Working closely with the health sector in the district and the community health workers to conduct food demonstration, growth monitoring, and promotion within the community groups.  Support developing and dissemination of Information and Education Communication materials on nutrition practices. Supervision to community groups to ensure nutrition and food security interventions are routinely implemented

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.

Training & capacity building

  • Provide trainings/orientation/technical inputs to staff, community structure members on nutrition and health monitoring and promotion at a community level.
  • Capacity building of Staff in nutrition knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct nutrition and hygiene training through cooking demonstration as well as sensitization
  • Build the capacity of the community groups to adopt and replicate nutrition practices
  • Conduct follow-up trainings to pregnant and lactating mothers on balanced diet, food preparation, and handling.
  • Coordinate with the technical staff coming from across Sectors for planning and implementation of the nutrition components within the Project

Implementation of Nutrition component

  • Lead in sensitization of beneficiaries on Nutrition and hygiene practices.
  • Map out the local staple food and sensitize the community on utilization such alternatives while upholding the nutritional composition (balanced diet)
  • Working closely with the district and community representatives to map out the target groups and beneficiaries
  • Working closely with the health sector in the district and the community health workers to conduct food demonstration, growth monitoring and promotion within the community groups
  • Oversee establishment and utilization of basic hygiene practices: especially Hand washing equipment

Job Summary:

The Inclusive Nutrition and Early Childhood Development (INECD) activity will promote nurturing and responsive care practices, especially in the areas of health, functioning, nutrition, and early childhood development (ECD) for caregivers and children. Specifically, the activity aims to improve health and nutrition outcomes among women of reproductive age and adolescents and improve infant and young child feeding practices. It also aims to address child development gaps and significant unmet physical rehabilitation and assistive technology (rehab/AT) and social inclusion needs for infants and children. The activity will focus on community-level service delivery, community-health facility linkages, and district level capacity development, as well as address issues of inclusion and participation, including access to programs and services for children and adults with disabilities, in line with Government of Rwanda priorities.

As member of INECD project team, you will facilitate the achievement of project objectives through implementing, coordinating, and reporting on all Economic Strengthening project activities for the successful implementation of the Saving Internal Lending Communities/Private Service Provider (SILC/PSP) model. You will provide technical guidance and advice to AEE staff and Community members.




 Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and lead the implementation of all assigned project activities in SILC/PSP as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with AEE program quality principles and standards, and donor requirements.
  • Collaborate with program staff at cluster level to ensure effective coordination of SILC/PSP activities with other aspects of the program through different Components/ approaches planned to be implemented
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community structures, to achieve program targets
  • Provide periodic training refresher pieces of training or additional pieces of training related to ES component throughout the life of the project.
  • Support accountability through contributing on the evaluation of project activities and endeavor build on project experiences. Analyze implementation challenges and report any inconsistencies and/or gaps to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
  • Provide effective supervision to support community members in SILC/PSP implementation including establishment of PSP networks.
  • Conduct field visits in the assigned district and make informative reports with specific recommendations on key gaps identified to ensure improvement of quality services delivery
  • Compile project report related to ES component
  • Organize financial linkages between savings groups and formal financial institutions.
  • With the Project Coordinator, represent AEE economic strengthening programming to key stakeholders, including in the government, community, and among other economic strengthening actors and counterparts in Rwanda.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in the field of Business, Finance, Economics, Rural Development, Development Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in project implementation, ideally in the field of microfinance and economic strengthening.
  • Must have 2-3 years of experience in organizing and facilitating Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) training or another community-based micro-finance model.

Job Summary:

The Inclusive Nutrition and Early Childhood Development (INECD) activity will promote nurturing and responsive care practices, especially in the areas of health, functioning, nutrition, and early childhood development (ECD) for caregivers and children. Specifically, the activity aims to improve health and nutrition outcomes among women of reproductive age and adolescents and improve infant and young child feeding practices. It also aims to address child development gaps and significant unmet physical rehabilitation and assistive technology (rehab/AT) and social inclusion needs for infants and children. The activity will focus on community-level service delivery, community-health facility linkages, and district level capacity development, as well as address issues of inclusion and participation, including access to programs and services for children and adults with disabilities, in line with Government of Rwanda priorities.

As member of INECD project team at AEE Rwanda, you will facilitate the achievement of project objectives through implementing, coordinating, and reporting on all ECD project

activities for the successful implementation of the INECD.  You will provide technical guidance and advice to AEE staff and Community members more especially Volunteers.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist the Project Coordinator to establish appropriate systems to implement the ECD/ education activities in partnership with communities.
  • Organize and lead the implementation of all assigned ECD activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with AEE program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, Government of Rwanda’s policy/strategy, and good practices.
  • Ensure learning properly accompanies project activity implementation throughout the project cycle.
  • Coordinate and oversee working relationships with all project stakeholders and serve as the liaison between them and the project team to mobilize local actors and promote project activities and impact related to ECD indicators.
  • Conduct training of staff and other stakeholders on the latest ECD programming competency to promote key ECD approaches.
  • Supervise and support community-level capacity building and technical support activities to ensure assigned project activities are implemented per project guidelines and standards.
  • Oversee the implementation of a community-based ECD approach(es) with a focus on households with children under 6, pregnant and lactating mothers.
  • Supervise the data collection by Community volunteers and conduct data analysis to be submitted in the reports.
  • Conduct regular technical supportive supervision to service providers to ensure the ECD service delivery meets quality standards.
  • Collaborate efficiently with all other Project Officers to ensure that other components related activities are well integrated with ECD activities.
  • Ensure provision of any logistical and administrative support to Community volunteers.
  • Ensure project documentation for assigned activities is complete with all required documents and is filed per AEE and donor requirements.
  • Participate in monthly technical planning meetings
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly activity reports.
  • Ensure a good relationship with district officials and other stakeholders involved in ECD activities in the district.
  • Perform any other task assigned by relevant supervisors




 Basic Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education required. Master’s Degree in Education or other fields related with Program Area would be a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementation of ECD project/ and educational programming with NGOs.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in project support, ideally in the field of ECD, public health, nutrition security, and child rights programming.
  • Additional experience may substitute for some education.
  • Must have a valid motorcycle riding license Category (A).

Required Languages – Working proficiency in English and Kinyarwanda. French is a plus.

Travel – The position is field based.

  • Implement all disability inclusion activities throughout relevant project cycles. Ensure AEE project team and partner staff use the appropriate systems and tools.
  • Deliver and coordinate specialized services for Persons with Disabilities, especially Community-Based Rehabilitation Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities.
  • Bring technical support in implementing the INECD initiatives and activities in close collaboration with local disability organizations, and service providers (both public and private) at different levels including health centers and hospitals by ensuring the delivery of nutrition and ECD services is inclusive.
  • Participate in the process of developing guideline, strategy, standards, and manuals to help with mainstreaming of disability inclusion into nutrition, ECD, and health in close collaboration with Government of Rwanda stakeholders and other development partners.
  • Contribute to learning and documentation with INECD project staff and partner teams.
  • Act as a key resource person at AEE in project implementation in the disability inclusion area, gap-filling and taking on growth responsibilities, as needed.
  • Coordinate the identification of staff capacity and technical assistance needs of AEE project team and capacity strengthening and required disability inclusion interventions to support quality project implementation.
  • Help identify, assess, and strengthen partnerships relevant to inclusive nutrition and early childhood development by applying the appropriate application of partnership concepts, tools, and approaches.
  • Coordinate and monitor financial and material resources relevant to INECD project needs in line with social inclusion. Through planning and oversight ensure efficient use of project resources.




Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social psychology, social science, physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, in Rehabilitation studies, social work, or Community Social services. Additional experience may substitute for some education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant field-based experience in implementing or managing light to moderately complex projects working with PWDs, disability

inclusion, Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) services, community support services, and advocacy, preferably with an NGO.

Required Languages – Oral and written fluency in English and Kinyarwanda. French is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project implementation experience in inclusive nutrition and ECD is highly desirable.
  • Experience engaging with grassroots communities.

A. Accounting and Financial Management

Accountabilities and MAIN WORK ACTIVITIES

Planning and integration

  • Contribute to girls’ and young women’s transformational leadership and empowerment commitments
  • Ensure gender advocacy actions including Plan International influencing asks are embedded in MIGEPROF’s plans to work with others to challenge negative gender norms and sexual and gender-based violence hindering gender equality and empowerment of girls and women.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications/ experience essential:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in nursing, midwifery, public health, or other clinical or related disciplines with nursing or social sciences background is required.
  • At least 3 – 5 years experience implementing and/or supporting reproductive health programs
  • Proven experience working with and for adolescents and young people, and track record of successful implementation of similar programs in Rwanda.
  • Experience to mentor health providers using competency-based approaches; experience of training health workers on clinical aspects related to ASRH, peer education, etc.
  • Ability to work with senior MOH officials, executives of NGOs, FBOs, CBOs, the for-profit business community, and senior members of the donor community on ASRH/FP matters.
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of the Rwandan healthcare system
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop technical capacity in national programs and technical staff in ASRH

City University of London President’s International Scholarship in United Kingdoms 2022

We believe exceptional academic performance should be recognised and rewarded. The President’s Scholarship is offered to international students with exceptional grades.

This scholarship is designed as a recognition of the growing cost of studying at university. As such, the President’s International scholars will be awarded the scholarship as a discount in the fee amount due in the first year of their study. The student must be self-funded in order to qualify.*

The successful scholars will also be expected to be ambassadors for the City community. This will include representing the University at events, both on and off campus, contributing towards societies and supporting broader community engagement initiatives.

For students starting in 2022, there are thirty of these generous scholarships available.

*You may be considered to be a selffunded student if you are: funding your own studies, getting financial help from family or friends; or, receiving financial assistance direct from an external funder (excluding financial support from a government agency).

Registration and deadline

The process for applying for the President’s International Scholarship has four stages:

Stage 1

All students who submitted applications by the 6th January 2022 (and have not been subsequently unsuccessful) will be contacted with details of how they can apply for this Scholarship. All applications should take place online and no applications will be considered outside of the advertised timeframe.

At stage 1 students will have to provide a rationale for the following criteria:

Demonstrate you are expected to achieve academic grades above the conditions of your offer

Provide a written statement detailing how you are hoping to make a contribution to the wider City community. This statement should be no more than 500 words; but it should demonstrate research into the wider City initiatives and any evidence of previous community engagement or leadership

Students will have until the 19th May 2022 to submit an application for the Scholarship.

Stage 2

Students who are successful will be informed by the 20th June 2022 to confirm whether that they are proceeding to stage 2 of the application. This long-listing will be made by a panel of senior staff within the International Recruitment Team and every applicant will be scored and ranked for the relevancy and quality of their submission.

Students who are successful in reaching stage 2 will only proceed to stage 3, if they select City as their ‘firm’ choice and are due to enrol with us in September 2022.

Stage 3

Following the 9th June UCAS deadline, we will reduce the long-list down to 30 scholars through further assessment. This may include applicants being asked to do take part in an online interview or discussion.

This information will support the final short-list of applicants, with the ultimate decision on this taken by the University’s Scholarships Committee.

Stage 4

Only if students meet the conditions of their offer will they be awarded the scholarship. We will revert to the waiting list, should we have any available scholarship capacity after the 26th August 2022.

All students who have progressed to stage 4 will be written to by the 31st August 2022 to confirm if they have been awarded the scholarship.

Applicants should follow the admissions Appeals and Complaints Policy should they wish to follow up on any decisions made as part of this scholarship application process.
