Assistantships and Scholarships

Provost’s Assistantship and Dean’s Scholarship Opportunities

A limited number of Provost’s Assistantships and Dean’s Scholarships are granted to various academic departments within each College at the University of New Haven. All full-time domestic and international master’s students interested in a Provost’s Assistantship or a Dean’s Scholarship must complete their entire application packet for admission by the deadline for consideration.

Provost’s Assistantship

This highly competitive program grants two types of work opportunities for new full-time domestic and international master’s students enrolling at the University of New Haven. Our highest achieving incoming graduate students are offered a Provost’s Assistantship. Students selected for a position in this program will work up to 15-20 hours per week (550 total hours per academic year) for an academic department. In return, students will receive:

An experiential learning and work opportunity for the entirety of their graduate program.

75% tuition assistance

An hourly wage

Types of Provost’s Assistantships

Research Assistantship

Students will aid in faculty-mentored research, conduct their own research, or conduct research for an administrative office related to the students’ field of study.

Teaching Assistantship

Responsibilities may include grading papers, preparing and teaching labs, and tutoring undergraduate students. Duties will vary by department.

For consideration of a Provost’s Assistantship, students must submit their completed application packet by the following deadlines. For the Fall semester, the Priority One deadline is March 1st and the Priority Two deadline is April 1st. For the Spring semester, the Priority One deadline is October 1st, and Priority Two deadline is November 1st.

Dean’s Scholarship Program

Full-time domestic and international master’s students are selected for a Dean’s Scholarship after a careful review of a new candidate’s application material on the basis of academic merit. The program provides up to 50% tuition assistance during their enrollment at the University of New Haven.

For consideration of a Dean’s Scholarship, students must submit their completed application packet by the following deadlines. For the Fall semester, the Priority One deadline is March 30th, and the Priority Two deadline is May 1st. For the Spring semester, the Priority One deadline is October 15th and the Priority Two deadline is November 15th. After these deadlines, Dean’s Scholarships may be awarded if funding is still available.

Northwest Missouri State University International Achievement Scholarship (NIAS) in the USA

MEET OUR SCHOLARSHIPS HELPERS HERE (WHAT’S UP)

Northwest offers nearly $25 million in scholarships each year.

This award will represent the value of the difference in price between in-state and out-of-state tuition. It is equivalent to approximately $7,078 during your first year based on 28 credit hours (the scholarship total will vary based on credit hours taken). The scholarship is renewable the second year if a student completes 24 unique credit hours (superseded credit hours do not count twice) with a 3.0 GPA. If a student does not maintain continuous enrollment they will lose their waiver.

For NEW freshmen (first-year students) to be eligible for the NIAS, you must have graduated from a non-English speaking school and be at one of the following levels of English proficiency:

65 on Internet-based TOEFL -or-

6.0 on Academic IELTS -or-

50 on Pearson Test of English

Other test options and scores for eligibility are available online by viewing the NIAS column

International freshmen who are not required to provide proof of English proficiency because they are from an English-speaking country are eligible with a 3.00 high school grade point average or with an SAT score of at least 1060 or ACT score of at least 21.

For international NEW transfer students to be eligible for the NIAS, you must transfer to Northwest with a 3.00 GPA in at least 24 hours of transferable credit and meet the standard NIAS English proficiency levels. Transfer students with fewer than 24 transferable hours will be eligible based on freshman criteria alone.

These are automatic scholarships that will be applied to the student’s account. There is no application required to be considered for these scholarships.

You have worked hard in to earn good grades and advance your education. The University of Findlay believes in recognizing that hard work through scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students. Findlay’s scholarships are based on your cumulative grade point average and graduate students can earn additional scholarships for earning a good score on the GRE or GMAT tests.

And there is not a separate application process to be awarded a scholarship at Findlay. Scholarships are applied automatically as part of the admittance process.

Level Doctorate: call for applicants

The ENS of Ulm, Lyon and Paris-Saclay have signed in November 27, 2013 a cooperative agreement with the China Scholarship Council (CSC) which offers to finance 30 PhD researchers per year. The Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard scholarship program (FMJH)

The Fondation de mathématiques Jacques Hadamard (FMJH) and the Labex Mathématiques Hadamard (LMH) offers a one or two years scholarships for talented French and international students who apply for a mathematic master’s degree in one of the member institutions.

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) provides accommodation scholarships to financially support new and returning international students in their journey in becoming great graduates of AUT.

The scholarship guarantees accommodation at AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation, located in the heart of Auckland city, just a minute’s walk from AUT City Campus, offering quality, modern, single studio-style living.

See Additional Information for eligible categories. 1.  Applicants must be full-fee paying international students (Note: International students are students who are neither citizens, permanent residents nor resident visa holders of New Zealand or Australia). 2. Applicants must have a current and valid conditional or unconditional offer to study in an AUT programme (minimum 120 points) full time. 3. Applicants will be asked to provide their AUT Student ID in the box provided on the application form. Applicants are required to declare if they have applied for other forms of scholarships both internally (i.e. awarded by AUT) and externally (e.g. government scholarships). The selection committee will take this into consideration.

How do students apply?
Application is through the AUT online scholarship portal www.aut.ac.nz/scholarships. Applicants must complete the AUT International Student Accommodation Scholarships application online through the AUT Scholarships database from this link.   Applicants will be asked to indicate under which category (select one only) they wish to be considered and must meet the eligibility criteria for the category under which they are applying.   Applicants are required to upload: 1. Current and valid conditional or unconditional offer to study at AUT. 2. Updated academic transcripts and any completion certificates. 3. A personal statement (maximum 200 words) explaining why you are applying for this scholarship, and what it would mean to you to receive it. All documentation must be uploaded by the closing date otherwise the application will be considered ineligible.

Application Form

Decision makers
Applications will be shortlisted and selected by the selection committee comprising of representative of AUT International and Student Services.  Selection will be based on the strength of the personals statement. Applicants who have declared other forms of scholarships both internally (i.e. awarded by AUT) and externally (e.g. government scholarships) will be considered on a case-by-case basis regarding eligibility.

How and when do students learn of the decision?
Applicants will be notified of the outcome by the University Scholarships Office as soon as possible after the panel have made their decisions.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
1. The award of this scholarship is conditional on the student gaining entry to an AUT programme (minimum 120 points) or returning as a student in the border exception cohort, nominated by AUT. 2. Recipients will reside in AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation and the award paid directly to student’s rental account in two instalments, at the beginning of each semester, after the official refund period. 3. Recipients of this scholarship are required to be enrolled full time at AUT and be residing in AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation during the tenure of the scholarship. Failure to do so may result in the recipient be required to pay back the full value of the scholarship received.

Additional information
AUT International Student Accommodation Scholarships is paid as a contribution to rent at AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation for the first two semesters.  The scholarship is worth $5,000 in total.  Total number on offer: 150 The scholarships are available to the following categories of international students: Offshore students New or returning full-fee international students entering or returning from offshore as part of the border exception cohort, nominated by AUT.  This is on top of additional financial assistance and rebate on Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) facility costs provided by AUT. International New Zealand high school leavers New to AUT, full-fee paying international students undertaking a undergraduate or pre-degree with a New Zealand secondary qualification. Returning AUT Alumni Returning new to programme, full-fee paying international students undertaking a graduate diploma, postgraduate diploma, or master’s degree with an AUT undergraduate degree. Foundation students New to AUT, full-fee paying international students undertaking an undergraduate or pre-degree degree with foundation award in New Zealand.

Duration and Commencement

The duration of the Master program is generally two years starting in August. Please note that the maximum duration of the scholarship is based on the time that is left until the scholarship holder has reached the regular period of studies; i.e., if you apply for a DAAD scholarship starting in your second year of studies of a three-year programme, the maximum duration of the scholarship will be two years.

Selection Procedure

After the deadline of 1 December 2021, AIT will screen, pre-select (according to DAAD selection criteria) and short-list the applicants. Short-listed applicants will be contacted for the following additional documents:

Scholarship Objectives

The DAAD Scholarship aims at fostering strong, internationally oriented higher education systems in Southeast Asia with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development. To this end, scholarships are granted for development-related Master studies for individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in Southeast Asia.

By training future academic and professional leaders, the scholarship program will have the following long-term impacts:

Qualified professionals’ involvement in the solution of development-related problems in Southeast Asia

Graduates strengthening education and research in Southeast Asia

Structural strengthening and regional networking of partner institutions and partner universities

To achieve these long-term impacts, the following outcomes have been formulated as programme objectives:

Scholarship Objective 1: Graduates are qualified to take the leadership in development and sustainability in their region of origin and beyond

Scholarship Objective 2: The participation of women and underprivileged groups is reinforced

Scholarship Objective 3: Organizational, financial and personal capacities of partner institutions are strengthened

The scholarship program aims at university staff in the first line, without neglecting the public sector demand of academically trained personnel.

It has been agreed upon that DAAD cooperates with AIT by offering up to 7 non-Thai scholarships and 3 Thai scholarships at AIT for the Fall intake 2022.

The scholarship will either be disbursed by the host institution, the German Embassy or will be paid directly to the scholarship holder´s banking account. Further details will be announced after admission to the scholarship programme.

Additional Benefits

DAAD scholarship holders are also encouraged to apply for a research stay in Germany for 2 up to 6 months. Please note: The short-term research stay in Germany should preferably be announced in the application for the regular scholarship and can only be awarded if the necessary financial means are available. The short-term research scholarship includes:

a flat-rate travel allowance

MEET OUR SCHOLARSHIPS HELPERS HERE (WHAT’S UP)

This Joint Master’s is part of a selected group of international postgraduate degrees that benefits from the EPOS funding scheme offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). A number of fully-funded scholarships can be offered to students from developing countries for through this scheme.

Eligible candidates should fulfil the following requirements in addition to the general eligibility criteria for the Master’s programme:

Being a candidate from an eligible developing country (check the list on DAAD website);

Having accumulated at least two years of relevant work experience since graduation from the Bachelor’s by the time of application (e.g. with an NGO, GO, or the private sector);

Having graduated from last academic degree no longer than 5 years ago by the time of application;

Having completed no other Master’s degree in a similar field of studies;

Aiming to pursue a career as a practitioner in the field of development following graduation from the Master’s programme (not in an academic area/not aiming to pursue a PhD);

Being ready to commit fully to the Joint Master’s degree in case accepted for the programme and a DAAD EPOS scholarship.

The selection process for the EPOS funding among shortlisted candidates will happen between February and April each year.

1. RESPONSIBILITIES:

The storekeeper is responsible for the maintenance of all departments’ storerooms at Chillington Rwanda Ltd. He/She will be performing activities such as stocking of operational and production materials and supplies, inventory control and purchasing records, and other related duties.

2. JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Take delivery of all incoming materials and reconcile with purchase orders and dispatch items to different departments according to company policies.
  • Document daily deliveries and received items to update inventory using best bookkeeping practices.
  • Track, document, and resolve any discrepancies on received orders.
  • Ensure accuracy of the facility’s inventory system by updating records of physical inventory totals, receipts, adjustments, and returns.
  • Manage inventory/supplies and ensure they are within the established minimum and maximum levels.
  • Design and implement an inventory tracking system to optimize inventory control procedures.
  • Examine the levels of supplies and raw material to determine shortages.
  • Ensure that the store is kept clean and organized.
  • Propose strategies to reduce costs and improve procedures of supply chain logistics.
  • Monitor demand and analyze data to anticipate future supply and logistical needs.
  • Keep up-to-date records of receipts and withdrawals from the stockroom.
  • Advise employees on methods of properly handling and storing received materials and equipment.
  • Schedule work for special and periodic inventories.
  • Reject damaged, unacceptable or incorrect items.
  • Notify the Procurement and Production of any low stock levels.
  • Identify and report any slow-moving items to avoid over purchasing.
  • Ensure all store requisitions are signed by relevant Heads of Department (HOD) and approved by relevant parties according to company’s procedures.

Project Description 

The Rwanda Schools and Systems Activity will strengthen the education system to enable all pre-primary and lower primary school and classroom environments to be of high quality, inclusive, and focused on learning of foundational reading skills. Specifically, the five-year activity will improve learning outcomes by focusing on increasing Kinyarwanda literacy skills of boys and girls through primary 3 (P3) through four intermediate results: (1) Pre-primary education system enhanced to develop, promote and improve emergent literacy, (2) Lower primary reading classroom instruction improved, (3) School environments improved for increased lower primary reading outcomes, and (4) Education systems management strengthened for improved literacy outcomes. The Schools and Systems Activity will include a focus on learning for children with disabilities to ensure project approaches reach all children.

Position Description 

The Communications Specialist will work under the leadership of the Deputy Chief of Party and have primary responsibility for ensuring the timeliness, quality, and relevance of the project’s outward-facing communications, including reports, social media feeds, success stories, etc as well as managing communication-related data (contact information, calendars, photo libraries, etc).

S/he will work with senior project staff to participate in the development of communication and public relations planning strategies to promote and publicize various activities, services, and programs of the project.  S/he will support the COP, DCOP, and other senior project staff to maintain contact information on key partner staff and stakeholders and will develop e-lists or other tools to help staff communicate directly with select groups. Communication with stakeholders in Rwanda may include SBC and advocacy messages in print and other media. The Communications Specialist is expected to understand and use the project’s Branding and Marking plan and to provide staff with guidance in its use. S/he will also be expected to provide quality control for all print and media documents and reports in terms of accuracy and adherence to policy.

Job Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the development of technical supports (reference documents, training manuals, communication tools)
  • Maintains updated contact information with key partners and stakeholders at central and regional levels
  • Communicate by e-mail and telephone with stakeholders when requested by senior staff

Required Qualifications

 The Medical Officer is responsible for providing clinical care and treatment, manage HIV complicated cases. Lead HIV quality improvement projects, support site growth, program budgeting, and planning. Technically support AHF Nurse mentors and Facility staff in continuous medical education. Liaison person for districts/AHF and health facilities within Southern, western, and Northern regions

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct onsite patient bed care and treatment, medical consultation of infectious diseases.
  • Provide Monthly, quarterly Reports of all infectious diseases and clinical mentorship activities carried out at health facilities to the medical director.
  • Review weekly report of Nurse mentors and provides guidance on program implementation
  • Ensures quality of HIV services in AHF supported sites.
  • Attends weekly CME meetings, monthly medical staff meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Attends all healthcare center case conferences (a minimum of one per month) to discuss difficult patients.
  • Supports health centers in the management of patients in care.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to provide coverage at other AHF sites upon request.
  • Participates in data use and analysis purposed to improve program implementation
  • Provide medical mentorship to the site clinical team to effectively improve quality of care and strengthen the district health system in decentralization of infectious disease (HIV, STIs and other Blood borne, TB&ORD, preventable diseases, and EID surveillance and response) prevention, care, and treatment activities.
  • Implement clinical practices and knowledge on infectious diseases in AHF supported sites.
  • Support health centers in the optimal use of available resources for early detection, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and preventive measures for infectious diseases.
  • Conduct field supervisions and carry out health facilities technical & programmatic needs assessment for infectious diseases.
  • Build capacity of AHF supported site’ teams in infectious diseases through organization of trainings, case review presentations, etc.
  • Conduct death audit for infectious disease cases.
  • Participate in harmonization and standards development of infectious diseases related tools; (guidelines, protocols M&E, and disease surveillance tools …)
  • In collaboration with AHF Rwanda M&E team conduct biannual or annual internal Data Quality Analysis;
  • Strengthens TB-HIV, Cervical cancer/HIV, FP/HIV, and Mental health/HIV integration by health providers in supported sites.
  • Supports HIV retention and site growth
  • Supports patient flow, Turnaround time of lab results,Client satisfaction surveys, and Time in motion

Supervisory responsibilities:

Responsibilities include supervising Nurse mentors and bucket staff Nurses and other HIV staff.

 Qualification and competencies

  • Holder of bachelor’s degree in General Medicine or its equivalent from a recognized university/institution with masters of public Health or relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years prior experience in HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases’ Management.
  • Valid medical license.
  • HIV/AIDS knowledge and related experience in International NGOs
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and written / verbal communication skills, including in cross-cultural settings.
  • Willingness to travel out of Huye/Butare city
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, team player with self-drive and initiative
  • Computer literacy required
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in Kinyarwanda and English. Knowing French is an added value
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or patients
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to write articles for publication.

SUMMARY

We’re looking for an established public health leader, with expertise in adolescent sexual and reproductive health, to join YLabs’ technical team as an Adolescent Health Technical Lead. This role is to be based in Kigali, Rwanda and will report directly to the Technical Director.

In this role, the Technical Lead will provide public health expertise to support the design and evaluation of programs that aim to improve adolescent health and livelihoods. They will ensure that YLabs’ work is high-quality and generates a meaningful impact on young people’s wellbeing. As part of a multi-disciplinary project team, they will work to understand community perspectives, build and test prototypes with young people, and implement and evaluate solutions that improve young people’s health and economic opportunity. They’ll help craft and disseminate compelling storytelling for a variety of audiences about our work and the young people and communities with whom we design.

The ideal candidate will be excited to work with a dynamic interdisciplinary team of designers and public health professionals to support the development of design solutions for some of the biggest challenges facing young people globally. The Technical Lead will work in close partnership with the Technical Director to support the growth, development, and leadership of our global technical team, and will sit on YLabs’ global leadership team to guide the strategy of the organization and develop and track strategic objectives. In addition to providing public health expertise to YLabs’ portfolio of projects, this individual will also be responsible for building strong relationships with our existing

partners (including donor/client organizations, relevant government agencies, and other NGOs) and work with the global growth team to contribute to the development of new projects.

YOU HAVE:

  • Ten or more years of professional experience in adolescent health (research, program design, or implementation)
  • Experience of partnering with young people in the design, implementation, and/or evaluation of health programs
  • Experience providing supervisory support to global teams
  • Demonstrated success in overseeing quality assurance for external deliverables
  • Fluency in quantitative and qualitative research methods across the research process, from research protocol development, to data collection and analysis, to reporting and presenting work
  • Strong collaboration skills with attention to addressing power differentials, and ensuring equity in our work and in our organization
  • Strong project management skills; able to effectively communicate with supervisor and team members about work flow and prioritization of deliverables
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable skills:

  • Expertise in research ethics including safeguarding and protection
  • Expertise in participatory design and research methodologies
  • Experience in providing technical support to scoping and developing new project proposals and partnerships
  • Professional fluency in another language
  • Experience with human-centered design methods

LOCATION

This position requires the candidate to already have legal authorization to work in Rwanda. This role may involve 20% of regional travel in Sub Saharan Africa. All costs related to regional project travel and field work are covered and travel is dependent on current safety protocols and permissions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

BENEFITS

YLabs adheres to Project Fair’s principles and standards to establish equity in pay with the overriding principle of “equal pay for work of equal value” outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals. All salary ranges are based on level within the organization and are competitive to regional and national salary benchmarks, based on the respective office location.

The salary range for this position is gross RF46,125,000 – RF52,250,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
