Our African Head Offices are a lively, and friendly place to work, and you’ll be interacting with a great international team of professionals, who are passionate about ending energy poverty.

Title: Associate Internal Auditor

Location: Kigali, Rwanda

Reporting to: Internal Auditor

About BBOXX

Lack of energy access in sub-Saharan Africa is a significant problem, with more than 600 million people currently without mains electricity supply. In Rwanda, 9.5 million people or 81% of the population cannot access mains electricity, which has a negative impact on quality of life and limits people’s chances of achieving economic prosperity.

BBOXX is helping to address this issue by providing off-grid communities in developing countries with affordable energy solutions. BBOXX customers typically use a Pay-As-You-Go payment method, which enables very low income customers access to electricity at home that they would otherwise not be able to afford.

Your impact

Are you interested in being part of a team that provides independent and objective assurance to the firm on the effectiveness of the firm’s internal control structure? Internal Audit has holistic and unique insights on the firm’s functions and activities as well as the renewable energy industry, its products, and operations. We’re looking for detail-oriented team players who have an interest in the renewable energy sector and want to gain insight into the firm’s operations and control processes.

Our impact

In Internal Audit, we ensure that BBOXX maintains effective controls by assessing the reliability of financial reports, independently assessing internal control structures, monitoring the firm’s compliance with laws and regulations, raising awareness of control risks, and advising management on developing and implementing smart control solutions.

What you can expect to be doing:

  • Participation in planning and scoping reviews of Bboxx NGU’s & B2B entities, meeting with the stakeholders within the area being reviewed to understand and walk through the business and technology processes, and identifying the key risks and controls to be assessed.
  • Assessment of the adequacy of the design and operating effectiveness of the controls to mitigate the key risks identified.
  • Develop and implement control policies.
  • Internal reviews of areas in audit plan and other projects as they arise.

  • Follow up with stakeholders on remediation of actions coming out of issues identified during audits.
  • Ad hoc work on firmwide projects around new processes or activities and investigation of incidents.
  • Ongoing liaison with colleagues globally and internal stakeholders.

Skills & experience we are looking for

  • Part qualified/qualified Chartered Accountant (ACCA)

JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST ENERGY POVERTY!

Overview:

At Bboxx, we are transforming lives globally through providing access to clean energy and services, to families and businesses across Africa. Have a look online at what we are doing, to connect families and communities with electricity and cooking services. You could be part of this amazing story!

  • Assessment of the risk and impact of the issues identified on reviews and production of the report to management.

  • Bachelors degree holder with at least 3 years of experience in either audit related and/or business support activities, and a strong control mindset
  • Part qualified/qualified Chartered Accountant (ACCA)
  • Big 4 Audit Firm experience is desirable but not essential
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) essential
  • French would be an added advantage.
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Good communicator who can manage multiple stakeholders, keen to drive consensus and influence the outcomes
  • Excellent team player who is enthusiastic, motivated to learn, and detailed oriented
  • Able to travel 30% to our markets including rural areas of Africa

50 Data Collectors/Enumerators muri Interpeace kubantu bafite A0 Deadline 15-12-2021

BASELINE SURVEY ON REINFORCING COMMUNITY CAPACITY FOR SOCIAL COHESION THROUGH SOCIETAL TRAUMA HEALING IN NYAMAGABE, NYABIHU, NYAGATARE, NGOMA AND MUSANZE DISTRICTS.

 ToRs FOR DATA COLLECTORS

 Positions: 50 Data Collectors/Enumerators

Duty Station: Nyabihu, Nyamagabe, Nyagatare, Ngoma and Musanze Districts

I. Background

Rwanda has identified mental health and trauma healing as areas of priority. A 2018 Mental Health Survey revealed a high prevalence of mental health disorders, particularly among survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. In addition, the country’s National Unity and Reconciliation Policy recognises “serious levels of trauma” as a major effect of the genocide that still weighs heavily on society today. It identifies the healing of psychological wounds as a guiding principle on which unity and reconciliation are established. High levels of trauma, anxiety and depression make it more difficult for people to trust and forgive each other. Trauma affects the ability to open up, receive and trust others, and it is a major cause of inter-community suspicions, especially between groups of genocide survivors and former genocide prisoners. This has limited people’s ability to cooperate in shared, mutually beneficial economic activities. Based on that observation, Rwanda’s 4th Health Sector Strategic Plan emphasises the need for holistic innovative programmes that simultaneously promote mental health service provision, advance social cohesion and support sustainable livelihoods.

With funds from Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), Interpeace in partnership with Prison Fellowship Rwanda, Haguruka NGO, Dignity in Detention

Organisation (DIDE) are implementing a programme focusing on the linkages between psychosocial wellbeing, reconciliation and socio-economic development with a goal of reinforcing social cohesion and sustainable peace through scaling up community-based healing initiatives. The Programme is in line with, and will further inform, the Government’s policy of establishing community mental health services to improve the uptake among traumatised individuals of Government-funded mental health support.

In addition, the programme is tailored to the context of Rwanda and is based on a core partnership and the shared expertise of the MINUBUMWE, Prison Fellowship Rwanda, Haguruka NGO, DIDE and Interpeace; in close collaboration with other key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Health through Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC)Ministry of Justice and Rwanda Correctional Services.

II. Purpose of the baseline survey

The Programme partners seek to analyse the current state and dimensions of mental health, social cohesion and collaborative livelihood initiatives at the community level in the 5 Districts. The study will assess the current availability and adequacy of services and service providers, in the fields of mental health, social cohesion and livelihoods support. The study will assess perceptions and attitudes of community members and service providers of their involvement in the above mentioned three components. The baseline survey will provide qualitative and quantitative data information to be used by multiple-stakeholders and to set up benchmark for performance indicators.

Currently Interpeace and its partners are looking for qualified and highly motivated candidates of high moral character and professional integrity to qualify for the position of Data collectors/Enumerators to contribute to the successful execution of data collection in Nyamagabe, Nyabihu, Nyagatare, Musanze and Ngoma Districts. Their services will be required for at least 25 working days during the period of December 2021 and January 2022.

III. Key Responsibilities

In close collaboration with the programme team (Interpeace and its partners) and a joint team of Local and International experts, the data collectors will undertake the following specific tasks:

  • Ensure that the study is carried out ethically and according to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Carry out household survey interviews on three project dimensions (Mental Health, Social Cohesion, and livelihood) in all 5 districts.
  • Collect quality data using both qualitative and quantitative tools/methods;
  • Enter and send timely collected data via allocated tablets;
  • Ensure that the data is collected from the right households and people (as selected by the team leaders);
  • Ensure that collected data reflects responses provided by respondents and that it is well captured in the required format/software;
  • Document and communicate to the field supervisor issues encountered during data collection exercise;
  • Attend after-data collection evaluation workshop to share experiences with other enumerators and local experts;
  • Check the quality of transcripts and translations;
  • Contribute to the interpretation of data and analysis where necessary;
  • Perform other activities as needed and indicated by the field supervisor or local experts;
  • Avoid causing conflicts and troubles with other team members during the fieldwork;

IV. Essential skills and qualifications

The desired candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Holding at least a bachelor’s degree
  • Prior experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection on reconciliation, social cohesion, mental health, and livelihood (at least 3 recommendations);
  • A good understanding of the sociopolitical context of Rwanda is a pre-requisite.
  • Prior experience with tablets and smartphones is an asset;
  • Excellent communication in Kinyarwanda and at least basic knowledge of English is mandatory.
  • Ability to maintain the anonymity/confidentiality and trust with people.
