Qualification Criteria/Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in accounting or Finance/ Accounting/Business Administration/Microfinance and related fields or Bachelor’s degree in Finance/ Accounting/Business Administration and related fields with 10 years of experience on senior management positions in Microfinance/banking industry
  • Minimum five (5) of experience in operation.
  • Excellent organisationnel and leadership abilities.
  • Out standing communication and people skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of French is added advantage.

2. Accountant

Responsibilities & tasks : Under the supervision and guidance of the Head of Finance & Administration:

  • Facilitates audit activities, submits timely financial reports and provides required data and information that maybe required by auditors, implements auditor’s recommendations;
  • Closes books of accounts, and prepares financial statements (income statement, balance sheets, etc.) and reports to various stakeholders (e.g. BNR) periodically;
  • Reconciles accounts with debtor and creditors;
  • Reconciles the interbranch, inter-district and interbank accounts and investigation on reasons for unbalanced/unreconciled accounts;
  • Maintains share and member register;
  • Checks and certifies correctness of payroll, travel allowances, per diem and related payments;
  • Consolidates financial statements of branches;
  • Processes banker’s cheque requests and transactions;
  • Prepares the annual tax declaration;
  • Any other duty that does not conflict with the laws and regulations as requested by the Head of Finance & Administration or his/her superior authority.

Qualification Criteria/Job Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Proven years of relevant experience.
  • Accounting certification would be added value.
  • Minimum five (5) of experience in Micro finance institution (MFIs)/ Banks.
  • Advanced knowledge of related statutory and regulatory banking compliance regulations, accounting principles, and tax laws.

  • Monitoring the repayment of loans and participating in the recovery of non-performing loans (NPLs) while respecting the default criteria;
  • Assessing the borrower’s ability to repay and providing technical advice to the Board of Directors’ Credit Committee for decision-making;
  • Providing technical advice to members wishing to apply for loans and conducting awareness-raising activities on credit;
  • Preparing provisions for loans in arrears and provisions for loans that have been written off;
  • Preparing loan agreements and implementing the recommendations of the Board of Directors’ Credit Committee;
  • Submitting monthly and other reports as necessary to the higher authority showing the status of loans and their interest;
  • Providing sound advice to the Board of Directors’ Committee on Loans in a timely manner to ensure that the members’ requests are met;
  • Providing advice on the performance of projects for which loans have been requested to members on the appropriate use of loans;
  • Providing and evaluating loans in accordance with the loan policy and guidelines and the laws and regulations relating to loans;
  • Submitting all requests from loan applicants for extension, modification or renewal to the Board of Directors credit committee, management or as provided in the policy;
  • Maintaining and updating loan documents and credit committee meeting documentation in protected manner;
  • Attending training, meetings and activities aimed at improving loan evaluation skills;
  • Advise the credit committee or the board of directors on changes to be made to credit policies or regulations;
  • Advise on alternative credit options for applicants who are able to repay but are unable to obtain the credit as requested;
  • Assist management in preparing written documents explaining each stage of the credit process;
  • Prepare and submit timely credit management reports to the department representative;
  • Assist in conducting research, evaluation and other studies related to the development of the Department;

  • Assist in the implementation of the Cooperative’s policies, procedures and guidelines for customer care;
  • Participate in the implementation of the customer care policy and in particular the protection of financial services consumers;
  • Inform and explain to members and customers information regarding the contents of their accounts;
  • Assist customers in completing any documents that may be required;
  • Conduct Customer Satisfaction Surveys in accordance with the relevant regulations;
  • Open new accounts and ensure that their documents are submitted to the relevant department or employee for approval;
  • Maintain good relations with all customers, focusing on changes and new needs in the Cooperative;
  • Issue bank statements to members and customers after payment of the required fees;
  • To provide advice to members and clients in general by teaching them how to invest and maintain a culture of saving;
