Job responsibilities
-Install, maintain, service, and repair HVAC systems and equipment. -Inspect air-conditioning, ventilation, heating, refrigeration, and cooling systems for proper operation. -Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration-related faults. -Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC equipment. -Clean, replace, and repair filters, coils, fans, belts, motors, compressors, thermostats, and other components. -Check and adjust refrigerant levels and identify refrigerant leaks. -Test electrical circuits, controls, motors, and other HVAC components. -Read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, and wiring diagrams. -Ensure HVAC systems provide appropriate temperature, humidity, and air quality. -Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests. -Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and replacement parts. -Follow occupational health, safety, environmental, and refrigerant-handling requirements. -Recommend equipment repairs, upgrades, or replacement when necessary. -Work with other technicians, electricians, plumbers, contractors, and facility-management teams. -Provide guidance to customers or building occupants on the proper operation of HVAC equipment. -Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and safe.
