Job responsibilities
• Install, maintain, and repair hospital water-supply and plumbing systems. • Maintain hot and cold water distribution systems throughout the hospital. • Repair leaking, blocked, damaged, or faulty pipes, valves, taps, toilets, sinks, showers, and drainage systems. • Install and maintain sanitary fixtures and plumbing equipment. • Maintain drainage, sewage, wastewater, and storm-water systems. • Inspect plumbing systems regularly and identify potential leaks, blockages, or failures. • Respond quickly to plumbing emergencies, particularly in critical areas such as operating theatres, wards, laboratories, kitchens, and sterilization areas. • Install and maintain water pumps, tanks, pressure systems, and related plumbing components. • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance according to the hospital maintenance schedule. • Assist with installation and maintenance of plumbing systems for new hospital buildings and renovations. • Work safely around medical and clinical areas while minimizing disruption to patient-care services. • Follow hospital infection-prevention and control procedures during maintenance activities. • Ensure plumbing work complies with applicable health, safety, environmental, and building requirements. • Maintain records of repairs, maintenance activities, materials, and spare parts used. • Monitor water consumption and report leaks, abnormal pressure, or other system problems. • Maintain plumbing tools and equipment in good working condition. • Keep work areas clean and safe after completing maintenance activities.
