Job Description
The Viral Hemorrhagic Fever Specialist will be responsible for:
• Conducting functions of alert and response to viral hemorrhagic fever diseases of epidemic and pandemic potentials.
• Ensure functionality of appropriate sentinel surveillance systems for early detection, containment & response to viral hemorrhagic fevers
• Develop informed manuals, guidelines, tools, training modules and standard operating procedures for prevention and control of viral hemorrhagic fever diseases
• Provide technical trainings to healthcare providers, sentinel surveillance officers and other public health professionals on surveillance, response & patient management of viral hemorrhagic fever diseases.
• Conduct data analysis, epidemic intelligence & epidemic forecasting of viral hemorrhagic fevers and inform decision makers on disease transmissions and public health impact.
• Identify gaps in knowledge on Viral hemorrhagic fever surveillance & prevention and develop plans and study protocols to address gaps.
• Monitor the risk of VHFs to Rwanda, ensure quality data is received from the field and inform timely senior management so that the Organization can get prepared for any change in the situation.
• Develop and implement national preparedness and response plans, including annual work plans to improve/enhance surveillance capacities for event detection, verification and response to viral hemorrhagic fevers
• Supervise sentinel sites to ensure appropriate implementation of VHF surveillance activities and adherence to the protocols, including provision of surveillance feedback
• Conduct scientific studies and dissemination of results to improve understanding of Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers to guide evidence-based decisions on VHF burden, prevention and control.
• Prepare and manage budgets, reporting, monthly spending & progress reports of VHF surveillance projects.
• Formulate policies, guidelines and trainings for implementing prevention and control of VHF disease surveillance.
• Ensure availability of specimen collection kits, PPEs & laboratory commodities for Viral Hemorrhagic Fever surveillance.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Public Health
