Job responsibilities

The responsibilities of the System Administration Specialist are: • Design and provide guidance on system structures and ensure that the design of system allows all components to work properly together; • Install, upgrade and monitor software and hardware and maintain system efficiency; • Troubleshoot problems reported by users; • Make recommendations for future system upgrades; • Maintain network and system security, business applications, security tools, web-servers, email, operating systems, local and wide area networking; • Ensure backup and recovery, as well as business continuity planning; • Evaluate and modify system’s performance; • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and systems security; • Ensure network connectivity throughout all the institutions LAN/WAN infrastructure is on; • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services; • Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers; • Analyze and take proper decision and implementation on what type of software and hardware configurations that are required for the organization.
