Job Description
Reporting: Structural Senior Engineer reports to the National & Urban Roads Division Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Structural Senior Engineer is responsible for:
1. Designing and physical integrity of structures like the bridges, buildings, retaining structures, culvert, and tunnels and ensure the safety and durability of the ongoing projects;
2. Elaborate and implement a strategy for designing or supervising the design, implementation and or review of structural calculations and plans of hydraulic and retaining structures of transport infrastructures;
3. Inspect ongoing construction works to confirm compliance with applicable standards, specifications and manuals;
4. Inventories structures and related costs throughout the service life of the structure up its eventual decommissioning;
5. Elaborate and develop the concepts notes, terms of references and technical specifications of hydraulic and retaining structures of transport infrastructures such as bridges, retaining walls, quay, embankment, OSBP…;
6. Participate in feasibility and detailed studies and assist in establishing a client’s requirements of construction projects;
7. Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities of the structural infrastructures;
8. Participate in the investigation and survey of build sites to ensure the suitability of the soils for the requirements of the structure project;
9. Advise the Agency in case of technical problem related to the structural integrity of the structures;
10. Advise the Agency on the standards and guidelines to follow in the design of structures;
11. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by a competent authority.
