Job Description
Organize and supervise laboratory activities
2. Ensuring the well-functioning of the cold chain and other equipments in the Serology laboratory
3. Ensure the review and validation of laboratory test results and the update of their records
4. Ensures all reactive serology results are reported to mobilization service
5. Ensure the implementation of policies and procedures in the laboratory.
6. Ensure safety in the Serology laboratory.
7. Implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions in the laboratory
8. Ensure that the proficiency testing is carried out in the laboratory.
9. Ensure appropriate training is provided to lab staff and that competence assessment is done prior to independent performance of laboratory duties.
10. Ensure preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment is performed as scheduled
11. Ensure all critical supplies are inspected for appropriateness before use
12. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisors
13. Report to the Director of unit
In collaboration with Platelet production and Immuno-Hematology Specialists:
– Ensures proper storage of Blood and Blood products.
– Ensures that all non-conforming Blood products are quarantined.
– Ensures that all validated Blood units are labeled prior to distribution.
In collaboration with Blood donor mobilization team and Laboratory Operations Specialist:
– Shares information and investigates non-conformances related to Blood donation.
– Shares abnormal findings in serology results.
In Collaboration with QA/Accreditation Specialist:
– Elaborate documents needed to ensure implementation of quality system properly
– Report on quality indicators regularly
– Ensures inspection of incoming supplies
In collaboration with Laboratory Operations Specialist:
– Ensures Inspection and constant availability of critical supplies
– Shares inventory status for Blood components.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology
