Apply Scholarships at University of Washington College of Law to Study in USA 2021

Application details

Merit Scholarships

The AUWCL Office of Admissions considers all applicants for merit scholarships at the time of their admission; a separate application is not required. Merit scholarship awards primarily consider applicant academic indicators (LSAT and undergraduate GPA). Merit scholarships for full-time JD students are renewable for up to three academic years per the AUWCL Merit Scholarship Policy. The Office of Admissions generally begins awarding merit scholarship in January and continues throughout the admissions process. For the last two years, more than 60% of the incoming class received merit scholarships and the awards last year ranged from $10,000 up to full tuition.

Public Interest Public Service Scholarship

The Public Interest Public Service (PIPS) Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship awarded to incoming (1L) full-time JD students only. The scholarship is awarded to those with a demonstrated commitment to public service, strong academic credentials, and a desire to pursue a public interest or public service career upon graduation. A separate scholarship application is required.

For more information on the PIPS Scholarship, including the link for the scholarship application, please click here.

Myers Law Scholarship

The Myers Law Scholarship is AUWCL’s most prestigious award and provides one-year scholarships to matriculated full-time JD students (one or two annually) who show academic promise and demonstrate financial need. Scholarships are funded up to 125 percent of tuition. Applicants for this scholarship must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the AUWCL Institutional Need-Based Grant Application by the financial aid deadline, in order to determine the financial need of the applicant.

The Myers Law Scholarship also requires an additional application, including a personal statement and resume. Application procedures and selection criteria are announced on MyWCL and in the WCL Daily email early in the fall semester with the application deadline typically 2-3 weeks after the first announcement.

For more information about the Myers Law Scholarship, please click here.

Restricted Scholarships

Through the generosity of AUWCL friends and alumni, dozens of named scholarships are awarded annually ranging in amounts from $1,000 to upwards of $20,000 depending on funding levels in a given year. Selection criteria for these scholarships vary. Most commonly awards are based on financial need and academic achievement.

The Restricted Scholarships require a separate application, including a personal statement and resume. Application procedures and selection criteria are announced on MyWCL and in the WCL Daily email during the fall semester with the application deadline typically 2-3 weeks after the first announcement.

For more information about Restricted Scholarships, please click here.

United Methodist Scholarship

The United Methodist Scholarship is awarded each academic year to full-time JD law students who are full members of the United Methodist Church for at least one year prior to application. International students from one of the United Methodist Church Central Conferences must be a member of The United Methodist Church for a minimum of three years. International students from an autonomous Methodist Church (or non-UMC Central Conference) must have been a member of The United Methodist Church within the U.S. for at least three years.

The annual application, along with the required supplemental documentation, must be submitted to the AUWCL Office of Financial Aid by the March deadline listed on the application. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is also required for U.S. citizens and permanent residents. The application is posted annually to the Financial Aid Forms webpage when available.

Need-Based Grant

The AUWCL Office of Financial Aid offers need-based grants to qualifying full-time JD students only. The application is offered free-of-charge and must be completed electronically on an annual basis. Grants are available to U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens as defined by federal criteria. Parental information is required of every applicant for need-based grant support, regardless of age or dependency status. Applications without parental information are incomplete and will not be considered. Grant recipients must maintain full-time enrollment (12 credits per semester), comply with program rules, and are limited to three years of support. The Scholarship at University of Oxford Rhodes in United Kingdoms 2021

Application details

The Rhodes Scholarship supports exceptional young people for postgraduate study at the University of Oxford, and actively fosters lifelong learning and fellowship.

The Rhodes Scholarship is for two years in the first instance. The Rhodes Scholarship covers Oxford University (and College) fees as well as providing an annual stipend. For the 2019/20 academic year, the stipend will be £15,900 per annum (£1,325 per month) from which Scholars pay all living expenses, including accommodation. Please note – this is not sufficient to cover partners or dependants.

The detailed Conditions of Tenure document outlines permitted combinations of degrees, and how many years of study are covered by the Scholarship, as the latter depends on course choice – for example up to three years of fees and stipend is available to Scholars who choose to undertake a DPhil (PhD) at Oxford.

Following selection for the Scholarship, the Rhodes Trust will cover the fee required to apply to study at the University of Oxford. The Trust will cover the fee for a Tier 4 study visa and the associated International Health Surcharge (IHS), which enables international students to access the UK’s National Health Service. The Rhodes Trust will cover two economy class flights – to and from the UK – for the beginning and end of studies in Oxford.

On arrival in Oxford, Scholars receive a settling in allowance (£225 in 2019-20). For those Scholars who transition to a second course of study in Oxford, they will again receive assistance to cover the fee for visa renewal and further application for IHS.

A number of research grants are also available to Rhodes Scholars, on application, which enables Scholars to, for example, attend international conferences or conduct additional fieldwork.
