Title : Maintenance Supervisor

Reports to : Head of Facilities

Education level : Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.


JOB DESCRIPTION

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee all maintenance operations for the Rwanda Ultimate Golf Course clubhouse, ensuring that all systems and facilities are in optimal working condition. This role involves managing a team of technicians specializing in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, kitchen equipment, painting, and carpentry. The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for scheduling maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring preventive maintenance plans are effectively executed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Coordination:
    • Supervise and lead the team of specialized technicians, ensuring smooth coordination between electrical, plumbing, HVAC, kitchen equipment, painting, and carpentry departments.
    • Develop daily work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor the performance of the maintenance team.
    • Provide guidance, training, and technical support to the team as needed.
  • Maintenance Operations:
    • Oversee routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure all clubhouse systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.) are functioning properly.
    • Ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues related to the building’s structure, fixtures, and equipment, including the kitchen and pool areas.
    • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to avoid unexpected breakdowns and ensure longevity of equipment.
  • Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:
    • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and troubleshoot technical issues promptly.
    • Diagnose problems with various systems and propose effective solutions.
  • Quality Control:
    • Conduct regular inspections to ensure maintenance tasks meet high standards and all safety protocols are followed.
    • Review the work completed by technicians to ensure quality control and compliance with internal standards and industry best practices.
  • Inventory and Spare Parts Management:
    • Monitor and manage inventory of spare parts and materials, ensuring attic stock levels are maintained.
    • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to order parts, equipment, and materials as needed.
  • Budget and Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation and management of the maintenance budget, including cost estimation for repairs and preventive maintenance.
    • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including completed work, parts used, and future maintenance schedules.
    • Provide regular reports to the Head of Facilities on the status of maintenance activities and upcoming needs.
  • Health & Safety Compliance:
    • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations, including the proper handling of tools and hazardous materials.
    • Implement safety protocols and ensure the maintenance team follows them at all times.


Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, or related fields are advantageous.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
    • Experience managing teams of technicians across multiple specialties (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.) in a large facility, hotel, or resort setting.
  • Skills:
    • Strong technical knowledge in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility maintenance.
    • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
    • Ability to diagnose technical problems and propose efficient solutions.
    • Proficient in using maintenance management software.
    • Strong communication skills to liaise with team members, suppliers, and management.
