Job Description

Reporting channel: reports to the Compliance and Safeguard Program Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

• She/he will be responsible for ensuring that the communities are empowered to be able to participate meaningfully and effectively in the maintenance of the roads, including designing and implementing social mobilization and training programs for the participating communities,
• Mobilizing the necessary facilitation support for awareness-raising and for building a participatory and socially-inclusive culture as well as designing and implementing targeted programs of intervention to enhance roads impact on gender and other potentially vulnerable groups,
• Identifying and developing practical guidance to RTDA on community empowerment and the principles of gender equality/balance;
• Tailoring guidelines of community-driven development approaches to the selected districts
• Develop a communications and information dissemination strategy and program on the roads activities to sensitize local people;
• Support to the organization and training of LCAs for the rehabilitation, maintenance of roads
• Overseeing and closely supervising the activities and work plans of Local Community Associations maintenance services in the selected districts
• As necessary, providing guidance and information to the project, the LCAs and project beneficiary-community groups on preparation of community development plans and on the principles of gender balance and social equity;
• Providing periodic progress reports on the community development aspects and Local community association Performance for (feeder) roads;
• Ensuring that the participating Local community Associations have access to the institutional support needed for their empowerment and for effective decentralization of the implementation of the feeder roads maintenance
• Perform any other relevant tasks as assigned by the SPIUC/ RTDA Management




Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology

    3 Years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies

    3 Years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work

    3 Years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Administration

    3 Years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture Extension

    3 Years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Psychology

    3 Years of relevant experience

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Windows operating systems

  • Experienced with participatory rural appraisal techniques and tools community mobilization
