BACKGROUND

Founded in 1991, Haguruka is a non-governmental organization registered under the Rwandan law working towards empowering women and children to claim their rights by improving their access to quality justice across the country. With head office in Kigali (the capital city of Rwanda) the organization has regional offices in Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Western provinces of the country. Its right holders are empowered to claim their fundamental rights from duty bearers in line with relevant international and national legal instruments applicable in Rwanda. Haguruka has a zero-tolerance approach towards sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment; and the organization implements programs that address the immediate human rights needs of vulnerable women and children while working towards combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and promoting gender equality. HAGURUKA thematic focus areas are: 1) Legal aid and psychosocial counseling support, 2) Awareness-raising and social mobilization, 3) Capacity building of partners and stakeholders; and 4) Research and advocacy

With the support from Interpeace Rwanda, HAGURUKA will be implementing a program called “Reinforcing community capacity for social cohesion and reconciliation through societal trauma healing” which is four years intervention targeting 5 Districts in Rwanda. These are: Ngoma, Nyagatare, Nyabihu, Musanze and Nyamagabe

Councilors (2)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or directly related field, at least with 4 years of directly related experience
  • Ability to apply mental health counseling methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of community mental health resources.
  •  Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of case management.
  •  Knowledge and understanding of clinical counseling principles, programs and methodology.
  • Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills.
  •  Knowledge and understanding of clinical social work and mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards.
  • Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and to make individual modifications.
  • Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
  • Knowledge of psychological test administration, scoring, and interpretation.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients’ rights.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.

  •  Assess, diagnose, and provide appropriate therapy to programme participants with the highest professional standards of care and refer cases to different health facilities for further treatment;
  • Develop effective treatment plans and create coping strategies.
  • Ensure that the group sessions are taking place in line with the training manual of operations;
  • Monitor group sessions on a regular basis;
  • Be responsible for the recruitment of community facilitators;
  • Coordinate the recruitment of the programme participants;
  • Monitor the personal and professional stability of the facilitators and ensure regular trainings and psychological supervision;
  • Ensure that narrative field reports are timely provided as required by organization policies and are of high standards;
  • Review the reports of facilitators and give observations aiming at the improvement of the quality of implementation;
  • Provides casework management of a specialized caseload, as appropriate to the requirements of the individual position;
  • Follows up to determine reliability and validity of treatment used; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery.
  • Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures.
  • Participates in, leads, and/or coordinates training sessions and workshops to enhance treatment skills.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
