Birkbeck, University of London is currently accepting applications for its Global Future Scholarship and International Excellence Scholarship program open for the academic year 2021-2022. The grants are available for students willing to pursue their master’s degree in the UK.
The University will be giving a certain amount of funds to deserving and talented students to cover their educational expenses. There are more scholarship opportunities according to student’s needs and qualifications.

Birkbeck, University of London is a constituent college of the federal University of London and is a public research university in Bloomsbury, London, England. Birkbeck University offers more than 200 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that can be taken part-time or full-time, with almost all lectures conducted in the evening. Birkbeck’s academic activities are organised into five constituent faculties, which are subdivided into nineteen departments.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
Global Future Scholarships
- The candidate must be an international student.
- Must be ordinarily resident in one of the mentioned countries:
- France
- Italy
- Greece
- Spain
- Republic of Cyprus
- Romania
- Poland
- Hungary
- Bulgaria
- Brazil
- Must be self-funded and are holding a full-time Master’s offer of study from us for the October 2021 entry
- Must be classified as an ‘International’ tuition fee payer.
- Only one award can be made per student, and the award cannot usually be held in conjunction with any other scholarship.
International Excellence Scholarship
- Must be an international overseas tuition fee-paying student holding an unconditional offer on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme offered by Birkbeck, starting in Autumn 2021. Student must have been assessed as an international fee-payer to qualify.
- you are ordinarily resident of a country in the relevant region
- Must be self-funded
- Must be classified as an ‘International’ tuition fee payer.
- Only one scholarship award can be offered per student, and the scholarship cannot usually be held in conjunction with any other scholarship.

The scholarship will be awarded as follows:
- Global Future Scholarship- This scholarship will be applied as a discount to the tuition fee for student’s first year of study to bring it in line with the course’s Home tuition fee amount.
- International Excellence Scholarship- Birkbeck offers a limited number of scholarships to overseas students enrolling in the Autumn 2021 intake on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme.

How to Apply for the Scholarship
To apply for the grants, aspirants are needed to follow these steps:
Step 1: Apply for Admission
- For Global Future Scholarship- Candidates ordinarily resident in one of the named countries are eligible and do not require to apply for the scholarship; our admissions teams will automatically use it during your application journey.
- For International Excellence Scholarship- Once you have received an unconditional offer from Birkbeck, you can apply the online application form for the region you ordinarily reside.

Entry Requirements
- Aspirant must meet the general country or study curriculum entry requirement.
- Student must demonstrate English language skills and meet the general admission criteria following the country or curriculum you studied.
- For programmes requiring a UK 2:1: first-class degree, 60% or equivalent. Students with a high second-class degree, 55%+ or equivalent, from one of the top institutions may also be considered at the discretion of the department. For programmes requiring a UK 2:2: high second-class degree, 55% or equivalent.
Visa Requirements
You may need to apply for a student visa to follow a full-time programme of study if applicants are a foreign student from outside the UK, or if you are from the EEA or Switzerland and do not hold settled status in the UK as of 1 January 2020. There are currently improvements at the UK border for individuals entering the country, and it is recommended that everyone check what they need to do before travelling.
