ALIGHT is looking for a qualified, self-driven, and committed individual to join its team as MEAL COORDINATOR.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The M&E and Learning Coordinator will be responsible for the overall M&E and learning of the above initiatives, including (i) developing each project’s overall M&E system and related tools and ensuring it is implemented to meet the projects’ M&E needs (ii) taking the lead in the base and end lines for the projects as well as the mid-term reviews (iii) integrating participatory community analysis into the M&E plan on an on-going basis to stay current with evolving socio-economic trends at community levels and conduct initial participatory vulnerability analysis to identify participating households (iv) ensuring documentation of all key project events and developing and maintaining a knowledge management system for the initiatives (v) intensively supporting the research and learning process around the impact of project activities on Health, Nutrition, WASH, Livelihoods, CP and SGBV and the learning process around ALIGHT’s projects including those that are piloted, ensuring these lessons are used to improve the relevance, effectiveness and quality of approaches in the project and beyond (vi) supporting the field teams in identification of key lessons learnt and findings from the research to inform future proposal designs (vii) building field project staff capacity in M&E.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Responsibility # 1: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning of Initiatives (30%)
- Full responsibility for developing a performance based Monitoring and Evaluation system for each project/initiative with the support of the Head of Program, including formulating and selecting SMART indicators based on the existing project documents, the donors’ requirements, and a database of participating households and children as applicable;
- Operationalizing indicators and developing the necessary tools and methods to collect data against these indicators;
- Train ALIGHT Project Staff who will be involved in the collection and interpretation, analysis of the overall projects/initiatives’ indicators so that they are capable of collecting and using data correctly;
- With the exclusion of SGBV, when needed, contribute to data collection oneself (e.g. holding interviews of project participants, conducting focus group discussions, etc…)
- Support Thematic Coordinators and Site Managers with analysis of indicators to determine progress against work plans and the extent to which objectives are being met and results (both outputs and outcomes) attained;
- In consultation with Site Manager, TAs and Head of program, support facilitation of base line, mid-term and end line assessments, including preparing the TOR, working with procurement to recruit and select the consultant, provides full support to consultants, shares key documents, reviews and comments on reports from consultants, etc…)
- Supports Site Managers to organize and conduct quarterly project reviews with key partners and advisory committees (organizes all logistics and key documents and data for these reviews, takes notes of meetings, etc…)
- Plans and facilitates on-going learning and reflection sessions with the field teams to ensure that existing and pilot flexible projects learn from challenges and success along the way.
- Supports Site Managers to develop a participatory approach to targeting and identifying participating households, in close collaboration with UNHCR, MINEMA, and other stakeholders to ensure the different initiatives are targeting similar households;
Job Responsibility # 2: Documentation and Knowledge Management (25%)
Key Tasks:
- Responsible for documenting all key events and processes related to the initiatives. Sometimes thematic coordinators may be responsible, but the M&E and Learning Coordinator in consultation with the Site Manager will ensure that people who are responsible for documenting activity have the right guidance to do so and the right formats. S/he will review these reports and ensure they conform to ALIGHT Rwanda’s expectations;
- Develop user-friendly knowledge management and archiving system for the initiatives, allowing ALIGHT Rwanda project staff to easily access relevant documents, resources, tools, and reports
- Support the Site Managers to write all required narrative reports for ALIGHT Rwanda internal reporting as well as for donor reporting, including human interest stories from project participants every quarter and success stories and learning briefs every 6 months.
- Develop a database of all training activities conducted by the project/initiative, including lists of participants at all levels, in conformity with Head of Program’s guidance;

Job Responsibility # 3: Support data collection and research (25%)
Key Tasks:
- Significantly contributes to the research component of emerging trends, innovative ways of humanitarian interventions, digitization of delivery of humanitarian projects, etc. Works with the Head of Program and TAs to properly monitor pilot projects and learn.
- Training project staff and potential enumerators who will be involved in data collection and providing them with on-going technical support as needed;
- Participating in designing data collection protocol, tools, and guidance needed for baseline, end line, and midterm reviews;
- Training staff and partners and potential enumerators who will be involved in the research and providing them with on-going technical support as needed;
- Overseeing data management (collection, processing, and storage);
- Participating actively in data analysis and supporting the TAs and Head of Programme with the analysis of collected data, extracting and documenting lessons from the field and experience to further inform the development / improvement of future programming in Rwanda;
- In consultation with Site Manager and Head of Program, share findings with stake holders and participating households and communities to ensure the research is participatory and empowering;
- Based on monitoring and research findings, identify issues and lessons that could inform the development of advocacy briefs targeted at influencing decision makers and donors in Rwanda and outside, including sometimes drafting these advocacy briefs;
Job Responsibility # 4: Capacity Building in M&E (10%)
Key Tasks:
- Support the different field sites in setting up and maintaining an M&E system at their level that will allow them to meet ALIGHT Rwanda’s M&E requirements;
- Provide technical support to strengthen their overall M&E system for all field project activities, building the overall organizational and technical capacity of ALIGHT Rwanda Project Staff.
- Train staff in the use of more qualitative M&E methods that will enable them to develop a deeper understanding of the prevailing socio-economic situation in communities they work;

ALIGHT is looking for a qualified, self-driven, and committed individual to join its team as Nutrition Assistant on FIXED TERM Contract for a duration of 6 months in any of the field sites (refugee camps) where ALIGHT has active operations in Primary Health care.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Based at the refugee campsite level, the Nutrition Assistant is responsible for ensuring proper supplemental food distribution and the nutrition counseling of beneficiaries through home visits and group education activities.
The Nutritionist Assistant will report to the Nutrition Coordinator.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in food distribution to beneficiaries according to different protocols;
- Ensure the proper use of supplementary food through home visits;
- Provide nutritional education to beneficiaries, their families, caretakers, and provide them with accurate information about the nutrition, culinary demonstration, services, options, and other resources;
- Promote maternal, infant, and young child nutrition;
- Promote and train exclusive breastfeeding for first six months;
- Maintain current and accurate clients’ records as directed, collect and report relevant data about services provided, and prepare statistical reports as required
- Maintain clients’ confidentiality;
- Organize and carry-out home visits in camp living quarters;
- Collaborate with other Alight departments, and Health Centre as necessary;
- Present and listen to other health staff comments and ideas in self-assessment of clinical skills and challenges;
- Report to the Nutrition Coordinator for help in case there is any problem in his/her department;
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor, or any other Alight Senior Manager.
EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- A2 secondary school diploma in social work, nutrition, or related field required
- Relevant training in food and diets or experience in supplementary or therapeutic feeding programs is an added advantage;
- 1-year experience in nutrition activities, within a refugee setting preferred
- Good communication skills Kinyarwanda and English or French speaking skills required
Experience in rural health center/ hospital setting
