Department: Finance

Reports to: Finance Manager

Responsible for: Managing Accounting and Finance Staff

 Skills required:

 Minimum qualifications

  1. B. Comm accounting degree
  2. Master’s degree a plus
  3. CPA / ACCA professional
  4. 5+ years’ experience in general or tax accounting

Key Skills and Competencies

  1. Communication Skills both verbal & written and interpersonal skills
  2. Experience with computerized ledger systems
  3. Advanced knowledge of Excel
  4. Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  5. Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment
  6. Familiarity with accounting software package
  7. Must be an outstanding communicator, and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment
  8. Demonstrated ability to support all other departments within the company and information sessions

 Tasks and outputs:

1.    Managing accounting and controlling 

  • Make sure accounting entries are IFRS and IAS compliant
  • Make sure cost centres and profit centres posting are correct
  • Review all credit limits and new customers’ category
  •  Ensure internal controls are working properly
  • Prepare a performance review and variance analysis report and follow up
  •  Make sure all entries are properly supported
  • Review all bank reconciliations
  •  Review all aging reports, Accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  •   Proper accounting, reporting, and management of company Fixed Assets

2.    Preparation of Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual management accounts

  • Review the trial balance and ensure that it is correct
  • Ensure proper cut-off for sales, purchases, debtors, creditors etc.
  • Prepare monthly reports including reviews and analysis and follow- all significant discrepancies
  • Prepare comments on monthly results
  • Ensure accruals and provisions are correctly processed as part of cut off procedure.
  • Explain significant variances thereof
  • Coordinate all functions monthly and quarterly reports.

 Preparing periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis, and commentaries

  • Review monthly general ledgers open items
  •  Make sure all entries are properly supported
  • Review all bank reconciliations
  • Ensure that inter-company reconciliations are completed correctly and on time
  • Review all aging reports, Accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Review balances and advice estimates for provisions or write offs
  • Enter monthly, quarterly, budget, and forecast reports in HFM on time
  • Review monthly and quarterly accounts for accuracy and reasonableness whilst challenging the key assumptions included in the forecast and budget.

3.    Preparation and consolidation of the financial statements in accordance with IFRS

  • Prepare local statutory financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and IAS
  • Attend Auditors queries and respond to their management letter
  • Prepare audit schedules and files and assist auditors in performing their duties
  • Timely submission of IFRS compliant Financial statements

4.    Ensure tax and statutory Compliance.

  •  Ensure that tax returns have been properly filed
  • Ensure timely payment of all taxes including import taxes
  • Ensure optimal tax planning.
  • Respond to tax queries
  •  VAT returns
  • Corporate tax
  • Ensure tax compliance

5.    Treasury Functions.

Ensure that bank recons are correct and up to date

  •  Ensure that bank transactions are valid and any deviations are identified and dealt with on timely manner
  •  Ensure that collections and payments are made on time.
  • Prepare daily cash position report and advice optimal cash allocation
  • Reconcile interest and bank charges are in line with contractual terms
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual cash forecasts
  • Review FX deals

6.    Deputise for the Finance Manager as and when required

7.    Perform any other relevant tasks as may be required from time to time

2. B2B Sales Representative

Job title: B2B Sales Representative

Reports to: Operations & Fuels Marketing Manager

Responsible for:

Developing and executing strategies for growing the fuels business in Rwanda, which will generate a rise in the company’s sales and in turn, provide the necessary revenue (and profit) needed to keep the organization running.

Tasks and outputs:

Principal accountabilities:

  • Determining annual and gross-profit B2B plans by forecasting and developing annual fuels sales quotas for exports, wholesale, and commercial market segments
  • Establishing pricing strategies; recommending selling prices; monitoring costs, competition, supply, and demand
  • Investigating new business opportunities; identify new markets and promoting other company product lines/division where opportunities are identified
  • Sustaining rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring needs; anticipating new opportunities
  • Developing and implement a company-wide plan to push product, working with the support departments for its execution
  • Inspire and manage B2B team by stating goals and objectives, maintaining open communication and motivating to accomplish tasks
  • Keeping current with developments and trends in the Rwandan & East African market; to draw insights from this information and formulate opportunities
  • Attaining customer satisfaction at all levels of our client base
  • Developing and nurturing relationships with current and prospective/potential clients
  • Ensuring the highest standard of service excellence and integrity

Key Deliverables:

  • 100% retention of existing accounts.

Skills required:

 Minimum qualifications

1.     Bachelors’ degree in Marketing, Engineering, Business Administration or related Fields.

2.     Relevant professional diploma will be an added advantage;

3.     At least three (5) years experience in fuels operations, sales, and marketing in the oil and gas industry
