Arizona State University, in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, will offer graduate scholarships to support the education of 25 promising young African professionals at the Master’s level for a variety of programs over the course of four years (2021 – 2025). This scholarship program is administered by EdPlus, a central enterprise unit of Arizona State University that focuses on the creation and scalable implementation of digital teaching and learning models with the purpose of increasing student performance and reducing barriers to achievement in higher education. This is a completely intensive and traditional on-campus Master’s program that lasts for two years.
The program’s primary focus is on preparing education technology specialists for Africa. During the period that classes are in session, Scholars have the chance to work part-time with the Baobab team to obtain practical experience implementing the strategic goals of the Baobab Platform. This opportunity is available to Scholars. The Baobab Platform is an online learning community that will eventually consist of over 70,000 ambitious young African leaders from all around the world. This community will be implemented online. Scholars will get financial support to take part in a two-month internship in Africa that is relevant to their academic program and will take place between their first and second years of study.
About the Scholarship Sponsor:
Arizona State University (ASU) was founded in 1885 by the Thirteenth Territorial Legislature as the Territorial Normal School. Goal of the institution was to provide training in agricultural and mechanical disciplines. Originally established as Arizona State Normal School, the school then became Arizona State Teachers College before reverting to its previous name in 1945. In 1958, Arizona voters approved Arizona State University’s creation by a margin of two to one. At present, the university is home to a wide variety of educational establishments, such as schools, colleges, centers, and institutions.
