Job Summary:

The Finishing Supervisor will oversee and manage the final stages of construction projects, ensuring that all finishing works—such as plastering, painting, flooring, tiling, carpentry, and installation of fixtures—are completed to the highest standards. This role involves supervising teams, coordinating schedules, managing materials, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The Finishing Supervisor will work closely with contractors, site managers, and other teams to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage finishing trades, ensuring work is carried out efficiently and in compliance with project specifications.
  • Monitor progress and quality of work, resolving any issues that arise on-site.
  • Maintain schedules and ensure all finishing work is completed on time.
  • Ensure proper handling and installation of materials and finishes.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines on site.
  • Liaise with project managers and Construction to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks, ensuring work is up to required standards.
  • Manage site personnel, ensuring proper coordination between different teams and subcontractors.


Tasks:

  1. Supervise Finishing Work: Oversee and manage finishing trades such as plastering, painting, flooring, tiling, and carpentry, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and on schedule.
  2. Monitor Quality and Progress: Continuously check the quality of the finishing work and monitor the progress to ensure it aligns with project plans and deadlines.
  3. Coordinate Teams and Subcontractors: Work closely with site workers, subcontractors, and other teams to ensure smooth execution of finishing tasks. This includes allocating resources and ensuring that teams have everything they need.
  4. Manage Schedules: Develop and manage schedules for finishing tasks, ensuring that all work is completed on time and in sequence with other phases of the project.
  5. Materials Management: Ensure that all necessary finishing materials (paints, tiles, flooring, fixtures, etc.) are available on-site and that they are handled and stored properly to prevent damage.
  6. Ensure Compliance with Safety Standards: Ensure that all work complies with health and safety regulations, and that workers adhere to safety practices and wear the necessary protective gear.
  7. Inspect and Report: Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work quality, report any issues to the project manager, and implement corrective measures as needed.
  8. Coordinate with Other Departments: Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other foremen (e.g., structural, MEP) to ensure that finishing tasks align with the overall project goals.
  9. Resolve On-Site Issues: Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise on-site, including any technical challenges related to the finishing work.
  10. Ensure Project Standards: Make sure that all finishes are in line with the client’s specifications, architectural design, and quality standards.
  11. Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any changes to the project. Provide regular progress reports to site management.
  12. Training and Mentoring: Train and guide junior workers or apprentices, ensuring they follow proper work techniques and safety protocols.


Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (essential).
  • Vocational training or a certificate in construction or finishing trades is preferred.
  • Apprenticeship experience in a relevant trade (e.g., painting, tiling, plastering) is beneficial.
  • Significant experience in the construction industry, particularly in finishing work.
  • Proven experience as a foreman or supervisor in the finishing stages of construction.
  • Experience managing finishing trades such as painters, carpenters, or flooring specialists.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and motivate a team to ensure timely, high-quality task completion.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Capability to manage schedules, materials, and resources efficiently.
  • Proficiency in identifying and addressing issues with finishes to ensure high-quality workmanship.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with workers, subcontractors, and project managers.
  • Knowledge of finishing techniques, materials, tools, and proper handling and storage of materials (e.g., paint, plaster, tiles).
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment used in finishing work, including power tools, hand tools, and scaffolding.
  • Understanding of safety practices and legal regulations related to construction and finishing work.
  • First Aid certification is a plus.
  • Physical fitness, as the role involves standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials, often in varying weather conditions or confined spaces.
  • An eye for detail to ensure finished products meet high-quality standards and client specifications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments (e.g., MEP, structural) to coordinate finishing tasks.
