Job Description
– Ensure Terms of Reference of new research projects are clear and well prepared; develop and implement research programs/projects to preserve environmental resources and to provide public environmental protection;
– Identify synergies, gaps to be filled, and high-priority emerging areas among existing research strategies in the field of environment and climate change;
– Develop a monitoring and evaluation framework for the implementation of the environment and climate change research strategy;
– Ensure regular update and management of the institution Environmental Information System;
– Provide Technical guidance to uses in areas of Environmental Information System;
– Participate in developing a communication strategy for publication and dissemination of the research findings;

– Identify opportunities of new research studies in terms of environmental management focusing on sustainable economic development and poverty reduction;
– Assess financing mechanisms of research priorities and programs;
– Analyze key research stakeholders in each area of environmental management in Rwanda;
– Propose partnerships opportunities and stimulate collaboration with relevant national and international stakeholders;
– Propose a coordination mechanism of environmental research and research development effort between all interested parties.
– Design and adopt technologies, product and processes increasing resource efficiency (reduce, recycle and reuse principle);
– Assess and advise on risks affecting the future sustainable use of natural resources;
– Provide advice on appropriate models to interpret long and medium term climate change projections;
– Develop a strategy for mainstreaming environmental indicators and statistics in the national statistical systems;
– Provide an essential framework to be used in the collection, preparation, recording and use of statistics.
