Job description

Reliably focus on uniting conservation, communities and sustainable travel to sustain the current market and attract new potential ones;

• Identify and develop strategic sustainable tourism markets;

• Build on current efforts to develop reliable tourism sharing projects for sustainable development;

• Identify new markets and strategically promote Rwanda tourism and services;

• Closely collaborate with MICE to analyze and use visitors’ statistics for the current and future markets;

• Work with local people around touristic areas and relevant authorities to identify and develop sustainable projects for their economic and social empowerment;

• Raise awareness on different conservation efforts including sound laws and policies;

• Ensure environmental friendly tourism for both products and services;

• Constantly ensure the provision of positive experience for both visitors and hosts;

• Focus on pristine, unspoiled natural environment sustainably;

• Timely analyze and communicate necessary changes regarding ecotourism to keep both existing and future targeted markets;

• Collaborate with tourism and conservation team to formulate laws and policies for sustainable ecotourism

• Provide tourism industry with information on different tourism business opportunities;

• Link with Rwanda external missions to ensure reliable ecotourism awareness especially in potential markets

• Identifies, liaises and sensitizes the local ecotourism product developers

• Follow up closely tourism developments and provide advice/expertise, especially near Park Areas for sustainable ecosystem management

• In partnership with National Parks and other community centers, promote ecotourism programmes with an aim to identify local talents in the domain to further continuity




Job profile

Minimum Qualifications

•Master’s Degree in any of these fields: Tourism, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism Management, Marketing, Communication, Business Administration, Management, Public Relations, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies with 3 years of relevant working experience or;

•Bachelor’s Degree in any of these fields: Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, Communication, Business Administration, Management, Public Relations, Science, Environmental Studies, with 5 years of relevant working experience. Key Competencies required

•Strong command of the national tourism industry and priorities, with deep knowledge in conservation and sustainable tourism;

•Strong marketing mindset with passion and enthusiasm towards tourism promotion and generating sales/revenues; •Ability to work in a fast
– paced work environment;

•Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to prepare and deliver effective and professional presentations, briefs, reports, etc.

•Good organisational and time management skills with ability to plan workload and prioritize
– be detail oriented and work under pressure of various deadlines;

•Strong Interpersonal skills with tourists, stakeholders and staff with ability to work independently as well as collaboratively; •Demonstrated strong experience in communicating with diverse groups of various sizes.

•Ability to establish/develop selective marketing techniques to attract increased tourism visits and spending

•Analytical and critical thinking skills with ability to undertake research and make decisions based on analytical processes; •Demonstrate exceptional skills in sales, customer relations, communications, and problem solving

•Excellent command of written and spoken English;

•Proficiency in French and Kinyarwanda is an added advantage;
