Role Title:  Director of Marketing and Institutional Advancement (DOMIA)

University of Kigali, one of the leading Higher Learning Institutions in Rwanda is looking to fill the position of Director of Marketing and Institutional Advancement (DOMIA) who will be responsible for designing and implementing a Sales and Marketing Strategy. The position reports to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs.

 Role Purpose

The Director of Marketing and Institutional Advancement will oversee all marketing, sales, brand communications, stakeholder management, customer service and fundraising activities of the University of Kigali. This primarily involves developing and implementing strategies to strengthen the University’s market presence and help it find a “voice” that will make a difference. The DOMIA will be an experienced marketing/advancement professional with a passion for the job, with some experience in educational or service marketing. He/she will be a skilled marketing strategist and able to drive creativity and enthusiasm in others

SUMMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement external communications plans and strategies that grow and improve the corporate image and builds, manages and sustains positive reputations for all School, Departmental and Executive Education Programmes
  •  Maintain the UoK website and appropriate social media platforms for all UoK Programmes
  • Facilitate open, regular, timely and seamless two-way communication between UoK and its key stakeholders
  • Has overall responsibility for media relations, branding, marketing communications and reception points
  • Serve as a corporate image steward by ensuring adherence to UoK corporate image principles and ensuring consistency and harmony in all brand communications
  • Constantly look for opportunities to sell more of the UoK’s products and services
  •  Develop integrated communications for every programme in UoK

JOB SPECIFICATION

Education

  • Degree in business administration, economics, commerce, or related field
  • MBA Marketing and/or CIM UK Qualification (Professional Chartered Marketer)

 Experience

  • Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience in various aspects of marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to work with ambiguous evidence and adapt effectively to changing circumstances
  • Proven track record in Educational and/or Service Marketing
  • Proven track record in handling Institutional Advancement and/or Alumni Management Assignments

 Competency Requirement Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership and organizing skills
  • Analytical and creative thinking
  • Culturally aware and politically savvy to navigate and negotiate with international government agencies and diverse markets while handling the operational challenges of foreign markets.

  • Ability to develop budgets
  • Must be able to identify, creatively structure, negotiate, and execute complex strategic partnerships with a wide array of partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
