This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of  automating infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and scripting languages such as Terraform, Ansible, and Python. Collaborating closely with development teams to integrate DevOps practices, including automated testing, code quality checks, and monitoring, into the software development lifecycle.

Reporting to the Head, Infrastructure, the DevOps Engineer will be responsible for bridging the gap between development and operations teams.


About RSSB 

The Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) has the mandate to manage and promote social security in Rwanda. RSSB’s vision is to provide a comprehensive social security system that caters to the diverse social security needs of the population, RSSB plays an important role in realising Vision 2050 and the National Strategy for Transformation (NST1). RSSB manages six social security schemes, namely: Pension, Occupational Hazards, Medical scheme, CBHI, Maternity Leave Benefits and EjoHeza (Long-term Term Saving Scheme).

As a leading player in the financial sector, RSSB serves as the largest institutional investor in Rwanda. With assets under management amounting to 2.06 trillion Rwf , which is equivalent to over 15% of the country’s GDP, RSSB invests in key sectors of the economy and plays a crucial role in growing the country’s financial sector. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and automated build, test, and deployment processes for applications and services.
  2. Containerize applications and microservices using technologies such as Docker and manage container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  3. Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and scripting languages like Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
  4. Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps practices, including automated testing, code quality checks, and monitoring, into the software development lifecycle.
  5. Implement and maintain monitoring and logging solutions, ensuring observability and proactive alerting for applications and infrastructure components.
  6. Contribute to the development and maintenance of self-service platforms, enabling developers to provision and manage resources efficiently.
  7. Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability through load testing, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  8. Foster a culture of automation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the organization.
  9. Stay up-to-date with the latest DevOps tools, technologies, and industry best practices, and provide recommendations for adoption and improvement.


Key Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must have at least:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or a similar hands-on tech role.

Key competencies

Technical Competencies:

  1. Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and container orchestration platforms.
  2. Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet).
  3. Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies.
  4. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud native technologies.
  5. Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
  6. Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration and networking concepts. Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef). Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
  7.  Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements.

Additional Information:

The position is based in Kigali, Rwanda and applicants must be willing to relocate outside their countries of domicile.
