Reporting to the Manager, Service Delivery, the Application Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and ongoing support of our Enterprise and ERP applications and systems.
About RSSB
The Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) has the mandate to manage and promote social security in Rwanda. RSSB’s vision is to provide a comprehensive social security system that caters to the diverse social security needs of the population, RSSB plays an important role in realising Vision 2050 and the National Strategy for Transformation (NST1). RSSB manages six social security schemes, namely: Pension, Occupational Hazards, Medical scheme, CBHI, Maternity Leave Benefits and EjoHeza (Long-term Term Saving Scheme).

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business solutions for our business processes.
- Design, configure, and support business systems, applications, and databases.
- Troubleshoot and resolve enterprise application issues.
- Monitor and optimize system performance.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing ERP systems
- Develop and maintain documentation and procedures related to ERP systems
- Manage and maintain system security and integrity.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Train users on enterprise system use and features.
- Collaborate with other technical staff to develop and implement solutions.
- Provide technical support to users.
- Learn new commercial solutions from vendors (ERP or any other internal application etc.)
- Provide in-house customization for IT solutions
- Work with business representatives to draft required needs which will be implemented by vendor into a digital solution
- Work on the customization of internal tools and work closely work with software vendors
- Performing analysis on software application functionality and suggesting improvements.
- Ensuring effective front-end and back-end functionality of applications.
- Consulting with the engineering team, internal users, and clients to improve application performance.
- Managing code migration across environments to ensure continued and synchronized functionality.
- Establishing the root causes of application errors and escalating serious concerns
- Keeping a record of configuration changes and scheduling application updates.
- Documenting processes and monitoring application performance metrics.
- Providing front-end support to clients and colleagues in other departments.
- Perform any other duties related to application/system field as may be assigned from time to time
Key Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must have at least:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any relevant field
- 2 years relevant experience or any similar experience in service delivery, engineering or IT support
Key Competencies
Technical Competencies:
- The incumbent must have experience implementing and supporting business applications.
- The role holder must have deep understanding of Microsoft 365 solutions, Oracle ERPs, or SAP or modern business applications
- The incumbent must have strong skills in scripting language like Python, .NET, java, TS, etc.
- The role holder must have knowledge of modern enterprise systems, applications, and databases
Behavioral Competencies:
- Must demonstrate impeccable customer service focus, strategic thinking, and strong ethical background with an ability to resist and zero tolerance for corrupt, political and other undesirable influences
- Must be able to establish and maintain constructive and effective relationships with key stakeholders and staff alike
- Must be open to change and adapt established methods for new uses within the institution

The position is based in Kigali, Rwanda and applicants must be willing to relocate outside their countries of domicile.
