Sustainable Coffee Rwanda is a locally registered enterprise specializing in wholesales coffee products for Rwanda’s tourism and hospitality industry. We offer businesses and government entities specialized services to deliver exceptional specialty coffee experiences.

Q COFFEE Ltd operates retail cafés in Gishushu & Kiyovu, Kigali, Rwanda. We proudly offer coffee products, coffee tours, and coffee beverages directly to our valued customers. It also houses a training space for farmers, baristas, and coffee professionals to enhance coffee quality from seed to sip.


POSITION: ACADEMY TRAINER

REPORTS TO: SE Operations Manager

SUPERVISES: None

LOCATION: Kigali

STATUS: Fixed Term Contract

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

As the Academy Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering coffee education and training programs. You will be responsible to inspire barista students to excel in the coffee industry.

The role will require Academy classroom management, training of trainers, training of barista students, and reporting on progress of trainers and barista students.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Conduct training in our Academy, or with partner sites such as other training institutions or private sector on-job training.
  • Prepare lesson plans with activities, materials needed, intended outcomes.
  • Prepare academy teaching materials such as presentation, hand-outs etc.
  • Keep good care of teaching materials and equipment and be responsible for the accurate inventory of academy assets.
  • Work closely with Operations Manager on the organizing of academy activities, budget, and student expectations (arrival time, class schedule, lunch breaks etc.).
  • Adhere to the standards and regulations set by Specialty Coffee Association for certified courses.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager and develop a comprehensive plan on the academy training program and how to grow it.
  • Research and integrate latest industry advancements and techniques into existing course materials.
  • Report to SGR management on the ongoing success, challenges, and recommended solutions of the training program.
  • Develop and deliver barista training programs for new and existing staff, covering coffee knowledge, beverage preparation, equipment operation, customer. service, and cafe procedures.
  • Assist baristas during busy periods and troubleshoot any operational issues they encounter.


REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE

  • Fluent in English, French and Kinyarwanda.
  • Valid Certified AST in Foundations of Coffee, Barista and Brewing Modules.
  • At least 1 year of experience in an SCA training environment as a lead trainer, preferably training in English.
  • Experience teaching in English, preferably to students who are not native English speakers.
  • Experience with classroom management and school administration.
  • University degree in Hospitality related fields is preferred.

  • positive feedback from program participants, measurable growth in student enrollment for new courses.
