Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization and management of the school library, including cataloging, shelving, and maintaining library materials.
  • Promote literacy initiatives to foster a culture of reading and learning among students.
  • Uphold high professional standards aligned with the vision and mission of Wellspring Academy.
  • Teach students essential skills for locating, evaluating, and using information effectively, including database searching, citation formatting, and critical thinking.
  • Maintain an organized and engaging library environment conducive to learning.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to integrate library resources and services into curriculum planning and instruction, supporting student learning across subject areas.
  • Select and acquire new books, digital resources, and other materials to enhance the library collection, ensuring it meets the needs and interests of students and supports the curriculum.
  • Prioritize the health, safety, and welfare of students in accordance with school policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding library resources, programs, and student literacy progress.
  • Advocate for the importance of the school library and its role in supporting student learning, both within the school community and to external stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for students’ spiritual growth and character formation

Reporting: Directly report to the Deputy Principal of the Secondary Section.


Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in library management and literacy promotion, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Proficiency in library management systems and Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Fluency in English is essential.

Personal and Spiritual Qualities:

  • Demonstrates a strong relationship with Christ and a commitment to spiritual growth.
  • Passionate about education and dedicated to fostering a love for reading and learning among students.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration and positivity within the learning community.
  • Practices principles of Christian growth, including prayer, study, witnessing, and discipleship.
  • Maintains physical, mental, and spiritual fitness to fulfill librarian responsibilities.

Contract Type and Duration:

Full-time position with an open-ended contract following successful completion of a one-year including three-month probationary period.
