  1. Organization Overview

Research Triangle Institute (RTI) has over 30 years’ experience assisting governments, communities, and the private sector. RTI’s Sustainable Growth & Resilience (SG&R) technical unit within the International Development Group (IDG) brings together RTI experts and capabilities across food security, agriculture, energy, environment, water, governance, and economic opportunity. SG&R will leverage RTI’s experience designing and delivering multisectoral programming and technical solutions to respond to climate change, build resilience, and promote economic growth around the world. Within SG&R, the Global Food Security and Agriculture team is working to strengthen agricultural markets, engage youth and women as critical leaders of the on- and off-farm workforce, and tackle the dual burden of malnutrition around the globe.


  1. Project Description

The purpose of the recently-awarded $17.4M Feed the Future Rwanda Hanga  Akazi (HA) Activity is to address the problem of insufficient employment opportunities and limited entrepreneurial success for Rwandans. HA will facilitate capacity development for Rwandans – particularly women, youth, and persons with disabilities – in key technical and soft skills required to participate in a modern workforce and will catalyse new entry and growth of inclusive enterprises. The program will be based in Rwanda.

  1. Position Description.

RTI is hiring Program Assistants for the Feed the Future Rwanda Hanga Akazi Activity. The Program Assistant will provide technical support to trainings, workshops and capture necessary data. This position will be based in Kigali, Rwanda, and will report to the Deputy Chief of Party

  1. Responsibilities of the Program Assistants include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain inventory of training-specific materials and order, as necessary, training equipment for all training events (e.g. speakers, projectors, etc.)
  • Serve as records management liaison for the trainings/workshops
  • Review internal reports, handbooks, training schedules, and other documents prepared by trainers for spelling and grammar, ensures that company format policies are followed, and recommends revisions
  • Ensuring all required information is entered into the Information Database Application for new trainee cohorts and their sites
  • Support the implementation of the project’s Private Sector Development activities in close collaboration with agribusiness development coordinator.
  • Monitor the implementation of partnership agreements and project activities related to IR2.
  • Facilitate IR2 related capacity building activities and post training follow up.
  • Performs other training-related duties or assignments, when deemed necessary by the Supervisor, for the successful implementation of the activity operations.


  1. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/management, economics, entrepreneurship or project management Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience supporting in data collection as enumerator, with specific knowledge of the private sector preferred.
  • Experience in designing, planning, managing, coordinating private sector in Rwanda to implement development programmes and with USAID projects will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Clear attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated team player with effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills; able to develop and communicate a common vision among diverse partners.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English, along with strong communications, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
