Academic Support and Resources Coordinator (ASRC)

The Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA) is a unique and innovative English language undergraduate institution dedicated to preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders of Rwanda and East Africa. Students at RICA will engage in curricular and co-curricular learning opportunities emphasizing Conservation Agriculture and One Health principles, oral and written communication, leadership, and entrepreneurship.


In an experiential learning environment, students will develop the knowledge and experience necessary for a wide range of careers in agriculture. Students at RICA will experience the six Enterprises including Beef Cattle and Small Ruminants, Dairy, Poultry and Swine, Row and Forage Crops, Vegetable and Tree Crops, Irrigation and Mechanization. Communication, One Health Systems Thinking, and Entrepreneurship are woven throughout the curriculum. All RICA graduates will be innovative problem solvers able to operate farms and ranches, start agribusinesses, assume management roles in cooperatives, NGOs, and other agricultural enterprises, serve their communities as extension agents and technical and policy experts, or assume positions of agricultural leadership in Rwanda.


DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an Academic Support and Resources Coordinator (ASRC) to join our world-class team of educators and researchers. This role will report to the Director of Student Success and involves direct collaboration with faculty, academic departments and other student support services. The ASRC will in collaboration with RICA faculty manage and coordinate the provision of diverse and comprehensive academic support and enrichment programs to students and collaborate with the records office to maintain student’ academic and non-academic data. He/she will constantly monitor students’ individual academic progress to flag students who are struggling and work with faculty to provide appropriate academic support. He/she in collaboration with the faculty and ICT team manage and update academic resources. He/she will oversee the management of the RICA Academic Resource Center.


RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Coordinate a comprehensive academic support and enrichment program through working with students to ensure they achieve academic success by providing them with requisite academic resources to become self-directed in their education at RICA.
  • Maintain an active and positive collaboration with the faculty to ensure students receive appropriate and consistent advice and guidance to foster their academic growth and personal
  • Work with students, faculty, and tutorial assistants to ensure students with academic difficulties are identified and supported in a timely manner as well as coordinate the Peer tutoring program in collaboration with the faculty.
  • Analyze academic and non-academic student data to facilitate holistic student support and inform institutional policy.
  • Manage the E-library platform EBSCOhost and coordinate training for students and faculty on its use and collaborate with faculty to ensure EBSCOhost content is updated regularly.

  • Assist in developing required statistical reports on student academic resources and ensure compliance with government regulations with regards to reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Curriculum Director to develop and operationalize tools for managing course schedules, classroom assignment and final exam scheduling.
  • In collaboration with the ICT Team coordinate necessary training for students in ICT and other necessary skills to enhance their learning
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the RICA Learning Resource
  • Assist in the induction and orientation of
  • Serve as a technical resource to the faculty and the ICT team for the purpose of providing information and/or advice regarding Student Information Systems.

The ASRC may be required to carry out other duties within their abilities from time to time at the request of the line supervisor.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Information Systems, Information Technology, Agriculture or similar qualifications.
  • Minimum three years proven experience working in the higher education
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written English proficiency, analytical and problem-solving
  • Able to work independently and under time


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in academic affairs management, higher education planning, management of e- learning resources at higher education level (e-library) and student information systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of the higher education sector, relevant university legislation, policies procedures and systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in conducting assessments, designing data collection tools, rubrics, and surveys.
  • Ability to prioritize a busy workload, and coordinate complex work environments to meet deadlines and targets
  • Proven ICT
