Context:
Under the direct supervision of the Migration Project Officer, and overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, the migration profile intern will be responsible for supporting the Migration Profile project under the following terms and conditions.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Support overall programme implementation of all LHD projects;
- Assist to organize and deliver trainings to partners and stakeholders on topics such as, but not limited to, migration management and development, labour migration management, diaspora mapping and engagement, ethical recruitment, bilateral labour agreements, etc.
- Coordinate and provide logistical support to project meetings/workshops/trainings among the different LHD projects;
- Liaise with IOM Country Offices to organize diaspora outreach campaigns, mapping exercises, and diaspora engagement activities;
- Maintain and establish working relations with the stakeholders to ensure timely and effective programme implementation;
- Ensure that activities are conducted in alignment with the project documents including the budget, project narrative and Workplan; inform the programme officer of any deviations and suggest remedial actions;
- Draft reports including project activity reports, interim reports and final reports and others as may be required;
- Provide project updates and upload all necessary project documents on PRIMA to ensure timely and accurate reporting;
- Conduct field monitoring activities to project sites for the purposes of assessing progress in project implementation;
- Coordinate internal financial and procurement requirements in a timely manner;
- Provide support and guidance to all LHD consultants as may be required;
- Establish a filing system to ensure that all project documents are well maintained and filed;
- Participate in stakeholders’ meetings/workshops as may be assigned by the Programme Officer;
- Assist in the development of new programmes and project ideas;
- Create and publish articles on project activities;
- Boost the visibility for all LHD projects in coordination with Programme Officer and PI unit by drafting visibility materials including flyers and info sheets, press releases, etc.;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Social Sciences or related fields from a recognized institution with three years of relevant experience or,
- Secondary School Diploma with at least five years of relevant working experience
Experience
- Experience in liaising with government authorities, National and International Organizations will be essential;
- Experience working IOM is an asset;
- Experience in project monitoring, support and development activities;
- Familiarity with general migration issues;
- Organizational, administrative and financial experience;
- Good command of Microsoft Windows programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook;
- Maintains confidentiality and discretion in appropriate areas of work;
- Accuracy in filing, reporting and data/information management;
- Ability to read between lines (keen eye for details), understand and apply written instructions and guidelines; interpret instructions and resolve work.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French and Kinyarwanda is an added advantage

Other
Appointment will be subject to certification by the Organization’s (IOM’s) Medical Officer, based on medical examination(s), that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and verification of residency, visa and authorizations by the Government of Rwanda, where applicable.
