World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire two highly qualified, dedicated, and experienced national for the position of Social worker. The position will be based in Mahama Refugee Camp-Kirehe District reporting to the Education in Emergency Manager.
Purpose of the position:
To take the lead in providing child protection support and psycho-social services in the camp. She/he will participate in all coordination and coalitions with other partners in charge of Child Protection of Children and the Management of schools. In addition, effectively implement and respond to the psychosocial needs of School- going age children within and outside of the camp.

- Coordinate all activities related to Early Childhood Education (ECE)
- Support ECD caregivers and liaise with them to report children’s attendance daily
- Distribute scholastic materials and uniforms to children in school
- Provide support to children in primary and secondary education including reporting student’s attendance and dropout
- Support children in the school of excellency by collaborating with their schools to meet their needs
- Conduct counseling sessions for all refugee children with

- Ensure support is given to ECD, Primary and Secondary education children in refugee camps
|

- Psycho-social problems.
- Support in establishing and reinforcing the school clubs
- Conduct sensitization meetings for students on the importance of education
- Support in career guidance for children in Primary and Secondary schools and resource allocation

- School feeding support is given to refugee children in camps
- Technical specifications for goods and services to procure are developed and shared and support is offered to children with special need

- Liaise with other child protection partners in the camp to prevent, mitigate and respond to children’s risks
- Do regular reporting on the progress of psychosocial and child protection support services
- ·Participate in child protection(CP) meetings
- Should be the schools’ focal person in preventing, mitigating, and responding to child abuse, violence, exploitation, and neglect.

- Child protection cases collected and handled in collaboration with UNHCR, MINEMA, and other partners

- Liaise with care ECD caregivers, Headteachers of Primary and Secondary schools to identify children with special needs
- Report cases of children with special needs as they arise
- Link children with special needs with other partners such as Handicap International
- Perform any other activity as requested by the immediate supervisor

Knowledge/Qualifications for the Role
|
Required Professional Experience
|
- At least 3 years Professional experience in social work (of which 1 year is in Education in emergency).
- Experience working with Refugee Communities.
- Demonstrated experience in working with school going age children including children with special needs.
- Strong understanding of Refugee operational context
- Experience in working with and coordinating with Primary and Secondary schools and other stakeholders implementing child protection programs and Special needs Education
- Strong interpersonal, intercultural, and communication skills
- Excellent analytical and written skills, and good computer skills
- Fluency in English, with strong English writing skills.
- Additional qualities: ability to multi-task, ability to handle pressure well, ability to improvise, flexibility, adaptability to transition.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Social work, Education or any related subject,
- Demonstrated experience in Early Childhood Education.

Preferred Knowledge
and Qualifications
|
- Experience in Working with International NGOs that focus on children
- Working with children, especially those in early grades of Education is an added advantage
- Experience working in Education in Emergencies
- Working experience in community development.

Salary:
The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
