PROCUREMENT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

On behalf of our client, a leading Manufacturer of casted spare parts and hand tools in Rwanda;We are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to manage the company’s supply of products and services. Procurement Manager responsibilities include strategizing to find cost-effective deals and suppliers. The Procurement Manager’s duty is to discover the best ways to cut procurement expenses and to ensure availability of raw materials at all times based on minimum stock values, quality control and adhering to the company’s policies and procedures on supply chain management




Procurement Manager Responsibilities:

  • Developing procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective
  • Sourcing and engaging reliable suppliers and vendors based on purchase requirements
  • Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous contracts and terms
  • Reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility
  • Acting as a point of contact between the company and suppliers and building and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Preparing purchase orders, following up on purchase orders approval, organising and confirming delivery of goods and services
  • Performing risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements
  • Foreseeing unfavourable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies
  • Controlling the procurement budget and promoting a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
  • Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
  • Overseeing and managing the IT systems that track shipments, inventory, and the supply of goods
  • Preparing procurement reports
  • Manage an efficient flow of goods to ensure optimum production
  • Process purchase orders to acquire goods
  • Devise and use fruitful sourcing strategies
  • Find suppliers with best price, quality and payment terms and initiate and maintain fruitful partnerships
  • Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services
  • Finalise purchase details of orders and deliveries
  • Establishing guidelines on how often the company gets price quotes for items, the number of bids to accept and which vendor to consider
  • Supervising a purchasing team and delegating tasks across departments when necessary
  • Evaluating spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timelines of deliveries
  • Create an efficient process to declare imported goods




Procurement Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration
  • Proven experience managing supply chain operations. At least 3 years of experience as a Procurement Manager or at least 5 years of experience as a Procurement Officer
  • Experience using supply chain management software and tools
  • In-depth knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access)
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Talent in negotiations and networking
  • Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
  • Experience in collecting and analysing data
  • Ability to design a procurement policy, strategy, process
  • Has led the creation of procurement plans
  • Experience handling the process of importation of goods
  • Ability to communicate with suppliers effectively
  • Analytical skills with interpersonal skills to complement
  • Good at sourcing, good at finding new suppliers
