Job Description
– Reporting to the Farm Power Technologies Program Coordinator Senior Research Fellow, the Farm Power Technologies Research Technician Grade II has the following responsibilities:
– Assist scientists in their regular activities in scientific research;
– Implement field trials/laboratory protocols for Farm Power Technologies Program to produce reliable and accurate data to support scientific investigations;
– Actively participate in data collection, analysis, interpretation and timely reporting of research results;
– Guide and train farmers on the identification and management techniques of Farm Power Technologies.
– Prepare specifications for procurement of machines/ laboratory equipment required for conducting research activities on Farm Power Technologies Program.
– Prepare technical reports for research and technology transfer activities.
– Perform general duties for Farm Power Technologies Program.
– Liaise with extension service providers in conducting on-farm technology verification trials, demonstrations and technology dissemination;
– Train students, interns and new scientists on field plot; techniques and practices and/or laboratory practices.
– Develop, implement and coordinate pluralistic extension and service delivery systems to meet needs of different actors along Farm Power Technologies value chains.
– Disseminate technologies, innovations, knowledge and skills to farmers and other stakeholders along the Farm Power Technologies Program value chains through various approaches including technical guidelines, extension/training materials, documentary films,
demonstration plots, media outreach, trainings, etc.
– Ensure the adequate management of resources under his or her responsibilities for institution clean reports.
– Ensure a good budget execution and implementation of institution performance.
– Ensure production of communication / dissemination materials (radio message, leaflets, policy briefs)
– Working with the Communication Unit to increase awareness and visibility of the Institution through the work done under the Farm Power technology Programme by various communication tools.
– Ensure effective collaboration with other program staffs
– Ensure effective and efficient management of resources and assets under his responsibilities
– Perform any other duty assigned by the Farm Power Technologies Program Coordinator Senior Research Fellow and other Senior Managers
