Job description
– Prepare and submit environmental inspection plans on timeline basis;
– Undertake adhoc environmental inspections to enforce all laws related to environment and climate change;
– Analyze proposed emergency response, procedures and guidelines, to environmental disasters and hazards, including spills or releases of pollutants and leakage of hazardous substances and advise accordingly;
– Participate in the development of national/regional standards related to environmental management inspection;
– Participate in developing, maintaining and updating a database of national & international environmental regulations and standards; Provide technical advice on disposal of chemicals & wastes, Solid waste management facilities; sanitary landfills, composting facilities;
– Conduct field follow-ups of compliance monitoring with set standards and laws & take procedures prescribed by law against any violation of environmental standards/regulations;
– Propose appropriate enforcement actions in case of non-compliance, and remedial measures in case of any environmental violation;
– Analyze and interpret data from compliance & enforcement inspection to determine environmental quality & compliance;
– Conduct investigations on public perceptions of environmental standards and regulations, and propose the way forward for improvement;
– Follow up on reported findings to ensure issues identified are being addressed
– Participate in identifying new areas of research to address new environmental issues;
– Prepare inspection reports on issues identified and provide recommendation on action plans to address these concerns.
