1.Cereal Physiologist Principal Research Fellow

Job description

Reporting to the Cereal Program Coordinator Senior Principal Research Fellow, the maize breeder research fellow has the following responsibilities

– Conduct breeding research on maize crop and technology transfer of innovations from the breeding work on the crop;
– Develop and submit winning research project proposal for presentation to local and international research partners and donors;
– Collaborate with other Scientists in RAB on the in their regular activities including in the collection of raw materials, laboratory work and in writing reports and publications;

Job description

– Reporting to the Head of Land Husbandry and Irrigation Innovation & Tech. Transfer Department, and Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM) Program Coordinator Principal Research Fellow has the following responsibilities:
– Provide leadership and coordination of all program activities including research and innovations on soil health, integrated soil fertility, soil conservation and protection

Job description

Reporting to the Director General the Data Management Specialist will be responsible of the following:

– Design, develop, maintain, manage, and report on databases and data updates.
– Design data tracking and monitoring tools.
– Provide support for data collection and management activities and attend relevant meetings as the expert.
– Ensure accuracy and integrity of data and act as a lead point of contact on data related matters.
– Coordinate the planning and development of different research and technology transfer publications that address priority issues of the institution

Job description

– Reporting to the Head of Department Crop Innovation & Tech. Transfer, the Crop Protection Program Coordinator Senior Research Fellow has the following responsibilities:
– Provide leadership for the identification, assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, impact assessment and reporting processes of crop pests and diseases prevention and management initiatives

24.Veterinary Services Program Coordinator Senior Research Fellow

Job description

– Reporting to the Head of Department of Animal resources Innovation and technology transfer with the following responsibilities:
– Prepare research proposals in the field of VS program aimed at solving community problems and attract internal and external funding for research
– Conduct research in VS program in accordance to the existing work plan and available resources.
– Publish research results at national, regional and international levels.
– Collaborate with other researchers in their regular activities in writing reports and publications;
– Enhance the institutional visibility in national, regional and international forums through active participation in meetings, seminars and conferences relevant to field of research
– Disseminate research findings in the field of VS program to relevant stakeholders through various and appropriate communication pathways
– Plan and execute Veterinary Services research and technology transfer activities in accordance with approved work plans and budgets;
– Ensure mentorship for scientists under his supervision in animal health and laboratory analysis;
– Establish and maintain effective collaboration with other stakeholders (researchers…), locally, regionally and internationally;
– Coordinating and facilitating demand articulation, planning, implementation and reporting of veterinary service delivery, disease diagnostics, and animal quarantine services at the national
level;
– Establishing, updating and implementing human resource and infrastructure development plans for public veterinary service delivery and disease diagnostics;
– Advising RAB and relevant authorities on Veterinary services policies and regulations.
– Participating in national, regional and international animal disease review fora.

27.Potato Breeder Senior Research Fellow

Job description

Reporting to the Coordinator of Roots and Tubers Program, the Potato Breeder Senior Research Fellow has the following job description:
– Design and conduct research of Irish potato by implementing breeding, screen house, field trials, and laboratory experiments to produce reliable and accurate data to support innovations development.
– Provide leadership for Irish potato commodity research and extensions.
– Collaborate with other researchers in their regular activities including data management and analysis and writing reports and publications.
– Provide trainings to farmers and extension agents for Irish Potato GAP.
– Train and supervise students in the internship
– Develop research proposal for funds mobilization.
– Prepare weekly, quarterly and annual reports on research activities accomplished.
– Backstop and support extension staff and potato value chain actors to mitigate challenges in potato sector.

Reporting to the Program Coordinator of Integrated Soil Fertility Management, the Soil Conservation and protection Senior Research Fellow has the following responsibilities:
– Provide overall leadership and coordination of research and technology transfer activities on Soil Conservation and protection
– Identify research problems on Soil Conservation and protection
– Identify priority areas of interventions in the field of Soil Conservation and protection
– Developing and implementing Soil Conservation and protection research and extension activities in accordance with approved work plans and Imihigo and budgets
– Lead planning and implementation of research and innovations technology promotion and dissemination, knowledge and skills to farmers and other stakeholders in Soil Conservation and protection
– Provide mentorship of scientists and technicians in planning, monitoring and evaluation of Soil Conservation and protection research projects, writing, reviewing and publishing research papers
– Supervise mobilization of financial resources for research and agricultural development through proposal writing on competitive funding;
– Lead development and publishing of research findings in in peer reviewed Journals, Conference proceedings and Book chapters
– Ensure effective and efficient management of resources and assets under his responsibilities
– Participating in developing and implementing the institutional work plan and budget execution of the budget approved, and institutional imihigo and performance contracts
