​The Deputy Director in charge of SI & Partner Relations has responsibility to ensure a sustainable and growing high impact savings group program in Rwanda ensuring that strong partnerships and Christian witness remain as core elements of the program’s identity. Working in conjunction with the CD, the Deputy Director in charge of SI & Partner Relations has responsibility to set goals, ensure that appropriate resources are in place, and to achieve or exceed these goals leading to the overall realization of the mission of the HI Rwanda program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Spiritual Integration and Christian Witness
  • Ensure that the organization is pursuing HOPE International holistic mission in theory and practice by all stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a spiritual integration plan for the program in Rwanda that contains clear goals and metrics against which to measure progress toward goals;
  • Ensure the establishment of devotion and prayer plans among staff associated with HI SG program in order to maintain a focus on the program’s Christ centered mission and vision and to promote spiritual growth among staff, group members, and other associated parties; and
  • Ensure a healthy spiritual balance within your family, work, and church life through the adoption of Biblical, personal, and spiritual disciplines.
  • Explore new training methods and curriculum that could be used to share Christ within groups. This will also include adapting or creating curriculum for this purpose.
  • Staff Discipleship and Training
  • In collaboration with the Country Director:
  • Apply and implement programs of spiritual training for staff that strengthen their relationship with Christ; including modeling and leading the staff in prayer, fasting, discipleship, Bible studies, and spiritual retreats.
  • Shape the culture of the organization toward biblical ethics and values and maintain an atmosphere of unity and love among the staff.
  • Offer spiritual care and assistance to the staff maintaining the confidentiality of discussions
  • Relationship Management
  • Oversee and proactively manage current and new partner relationships between HI and the partners in Rwanda (Anglican Church, Pentecostal Church, Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church, Baptist Church) to ensure continued growth and sustainability of the program.
  • Provide support to the CD in the process of identifying, selecting, and evaluating potential new ministry partners. Review the feasibility study with the CD to determine if the potential partner is a good mission fit.
  • Ensure that MOUs with new and existing church partners are reviewed, updated, signed, and active in light of CPES framework, in consultation with the CD, throughout the duration of the partnership.
  • Participate in programmatic planning and support through high-level oversight as well as hands-on training, assessment, certification, motivation, guidance, and logistics support.
  • Human Resource Management
  • Oversee human resources management activities and consult the CD in HR decision making for HOPE Rwanda
  • Support the CD to ensure that highly passionate and skilled employees are recruited, retained, and motivated.
  • Responsible for organizing regular staff meetings with both HI Rwanda head office staff as well as church partner staff as necessary.
  • Planning
  • Work in conjunction with the CD to develop 5-year strategic plans and annual business plans for the growth and development of the program;
  • Develop an annual plan including a specific framework within operations to share Christ with all stakeholders (staff, partners, group members, etc … )
  • Set appropriate performance and social metrics and targets for achievement;
  • Provide correction, guidance, and support when and where the program deviates from the approved methodology.
  • Reporting
  • Provide support to the church partnerships by assisting in the continued development and implementation of a set reporting format for SG activities;
  • Ensure that HOPE and the church partners’ reporting deadlines and standards are met as set out in the reporting requirements;
  • Provide reports as needed for donors, auditors, and other parties; and
  • Meet regularly and provide updates to the Country Director to review status of progress toward goals and to address issues.
  • HOPE International Network Representative
  • Show hospitality to any and all visitors from HOPE or related parties that wish to visit the program and witness its operations. This includes the timely establishment and creation of appropriate itineraries, overseeing all necessary ground logistics, and accurately representing HOPE and its mission through communication with visitors

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International.
  • Passionate commitment to HI’s mission of Christ centered microenterprise development and promotion of savings group programs.
  • Active and direct experience/engagement in their local church with practical understanding of church leadership, church structures, and church operations;
  • Senior-level pastoral experience, with at least 5-10 years serving as a leader in a church or parachurch setting
  • Demonstrated skills and talents in mobilizing, organizing, and communication especially in a church/ community setting.
  • Have skills and experience in the ministry of equipping Christians and Disciple-making.
  • Demonstrated experience at the mid to senior leadership level in international development work.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in international development work.
  • Experience in savings group programs or savings-led microfinance preferred. Experience in managing and developing savings group programs, in particular, is an added advantage.
  • Skilled leader, with a strong understanding of cross-cultural communications, workplace relationships, excellent church relations, and the ability to relate to and effectively motivate staff.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and computer-based communication skills. Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda. French is an added value.
  • Passionate to help people that have been brought low by poverty or other circumstances to regain hope, dignity, and the ability to support themselves and their families.
  • Highly flexible and creative, assertive self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team.
  • Qualifying degree in Project Management, Social Development, Theology, Business Administration, International Development or similar field of study.
