Chief Accountant Job Description
Responsibilities
- Supervise journal entries in the accounting systems and another day to day finance and accounts operation, and give direction
- Manage credit files
- Verify and approve all tax declarations and payments
- Produce financial statements on a timely basis (monthly, quarterly, and annually) according to IFRS Standards.
- Collaborate with both internal and external auditors
- Supervise physical inventory of stocks and fixed assets
- Establish amortization tables
- Perform product cost calculations and controls
- Work closely with the operations team in analyzing margins, variances, and cost analysis and collaborate on cost reduction initiatives
- Perform cash flow forecasting, budgeting in collaboration with all departments and divisions
- Analyze accounting report periodically (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually)
- Submit and present reports to management periodically (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually)
- Assist in all other related tasks as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting
- At least 4 years of accounting experience using the IFRS, preferably in a manufacturing setting
- Must be at least RCPA certified, CPA and ACCA an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Account Reconciliation
- Proven leadership skills
- A self-motivated individual able to work independently while being a team player
- Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda required and French preferred
- Experience using accounting software (preferably in manufacturing features)
- Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word, and/or Google Sheet/Docs
