Job Description Summary

The System Developer will be responsible for providing technical support in the development, management, and sustenance of all Information systems. This will include immediate assistance with database support including ongoing data collection, maintenance of data records, generation of reports, ensuring ongoing data quality monitoring, trainingstakeholders to use the existing systems regularly to answer questions, and creating a cultureof using data for reporting, managing and decision making all of interest to Africa CDC and Member States.


Major Duties and Responsibilities
The System Developer shall:

 Coordinate efforts of all members of system development teams to ensure that thesystems are operational with current, accurate data.
 Focus on developing capacity for use and sustainability of all systems
 Work closely with Africa CDC Divisions or Member State on systems integration.
 Participate in and supervise activities of data entry, which include entry of newrecords as
well as entry of data updates collected from all levels.
 Maintain access accounts to databases ensuring appropriate user policies andsecurity is
enforced.
 Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensureoverall
database integrity and security.
 Generate reports as needed for Member States and related stakeholders.
 Provide training for database users and support for developing regular and ad hocreports
so that key users and confident in using the systems to respond to information needs.
 Develop a culture among the key stakeholders of using data for decision making and, as
new features are implemented, ensure all staff are informed of new features and are
properly trained.
 Perform advanced analytics on public health data captured through various AfricaCDC or
Member State platforms to inform strategic planning, response and policymaking on the
continent.
 Support member states in improving their digital health capacity and capabilities by
providing backend analytics on public health data to, guide response, strategic planning
and resource allocation, while also improving data quality, data warehousing, data access,
and use.
 Prepare reports for the management stating trends, patterns, and predictions usingrelevant data
 Use automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources
 Use statistical tools to identify, analyse, and interpret patterns and trends in complexdata
sets that could be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction.
 Represent Africa CDC in a professional manner, which creates a positive image and
enhances the credibility of the organization
 Other duties as assigned.
