Job Description
Reporting to the Horticulture Program Coordinator Senior Research Fellow, Horticulture Innovation & Tech. Transfer Research Technician Grade IV has the following responsibilities:
– To assisting scientists in their regular activities in scientific research;
– To implement field trials/laboratory protocols in areas of horticulture crops’ breeding, pathology, entomology, agronomy and physiology to produce reliable and accurate data to
support scientific
investigations;
– To participate in data collection, analysis, interpretation and timely reporting of research results;
– Guide and train farmers on the identification and management techniques of biotic and abiotic stresses of horticultural crops.
– Prepare specifications for procurement of machines/ laboratory equipment required for conducting research activities on horticultural crops’ breeding, pathology, entomology,
agronomy, physiology and related fields.
– Prepare technical reports for research and technology transfer activities.
– Perform general nursery duties for horticultural crops
– To liaise with extension service providers in conducting on-farm technology verification trials, demonstrations and technology dissemination;
– To train students, interns and new scientists on field plot; techniques and practices and/or laboratory practices.
– To develop, implement and coordinate pluralistic extension and service delivery systems to meet needs of different actors along horticulture value chains.
– To disseminate technologies, innovations, knowledge and skills to farmers and other stakeholders along the horticulture value chains through various approaches including technical
guidelines,
extension/training materials, documentary films, demonstration plots, media outreach, trainings, etc.
– Ensure the adequate management of resources under his or her responsibilities and prevent audit queries and implementation of Auditor General Recommendations when queries are
raised.
– Undertake other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator and other RAB Senior Managers.
