Senior Sales Manager Africa (m/f)

Reporting to the Head of Sales for the African region and based in our Sales office in Kigali (Rwanda), you will be responsible for growing the revenue and the business in several African countries by selling the full Itron portfolio.

To maintain a close relationship with local Utilities and governments, extensive travel is expected throughout the region (>50%).

Your first challenge will be to learn all about our technological solutions and to customize appropriate offers for each customer’s need, from products (meters) to global solutions (communication modules, services…), with the support from our Technical Teams.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Qualify, develop, and maintain thorough company and product knowledge, research utility and smart city needs, and identify how our solutions can provide value to customers.
  • Understand customers’ needs and design customized solutions with our technologies and services.
  • Support customers in identification and obtention of funding.
  • Participate to the preparation of RFI & RFQ, technical proposals, tender responses, solution presentations, etc.
  • Perform incisive and insightful market and competitive research to identify new opportunities.
  • Generate leads and grow existing relationships, maintaining an accurate, detailed opportunity list, and develop an active customer base.
  • Utilize Salesforce.com tool to ensure standard processes during all sales stages.
  • Develop and keep alive a pipeline of opportunities to build long term forecast.
  • Conduct quarter-end and year-end close processes.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Degree in Engineering (Electronics / IT / Telecom, Banking), and/or in Business Administration, completed with at least 10 years’ experience at selling complex solutions including hardware, Software and Services.
  • Experienced in dealing with governments, municipal markets and utilities is key.
  • Preferably coming from the metering industry or any industry or sector proposing complex solutions to enable companies, utilities, municipalities, and governments to improve their daily and long-term performances.
  • Passion for sales, ability to generate new leads, build relationships with public officials, C-level stakeholders, and close deals.
  • Outstanding ability to convince others and to maintain effective business network.
  • Excellent team-spirit and communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Fluent English and French skills are mandatory, Kinyarwanda or Kiswahili skills would be appreciated.
  • Driving license is required.

Channel Partner Manager – Africa (m/f)

Itron is looking for a Channel Partner Manager to join our team in Kigali (Rwanda), where you will be responsible for fostering the relationship between Itron and channel partners throughout the region.

The Channel Partner Manager is a high impact, very prominent role responsible for establishing Itron as an innovative technical and business leader in the channel and for helping close a growing number of transactions within the region. In this role you are responsible for the definition of the channel partner strategy in Africa, as well as its successful deployment and execution.

You will be directly reporting to the Head of Sales for the African region. You are responsible for the management of 2 persons.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all channel revenue growth & retention in African countries.
  • Define the indirect channel strategy and strategic goals for the region in accordance with the global and regional guidelines.
  • Assess current partners capability to support Itron’s portfolio including Device, Networks, and Outcomes solutions.
  • Manage channel training to educate partners on our transformation and business strategy.
  • Identify new partners and evaluate the financial and non-financial benefits and risks of new partnerships.
  • Build a detailed business plan, customer mapping & objectives for each partner.
  • Drive the process of negotiating and closing agreements with input from key internal teams like Legal and Finance.
  • Develop and manage relationship up to the executive level of our channel partners.
  • Support partners in pursuing and identifying opportunities.
  • Ensure corporate direction, branding and messaging guidelines are followed.
  • Track, report, and optimize the performance of partnerships, including the identification and resolution of issues and conflicts.
  • Drive continuous improvement of process and policy across critical areas of the partner lifecycle: onboarding, vetting, developing, enabling, supporting and offboarding.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in Channel Sales in a matrix and international company that sells complex solutions including Hardware, Software and Services (ideally ICT industry).
  • Proven record of building relationships and business models with partners on long-term across various African countries.
  • Knowledge of the African Energy market and key players.
  • Leadership, ability to define and drive a strategy and to coordinate resources to meet the goals.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent English and French skills are mandatory, Kinyarwanda skills would be appreciated.
  • Proficient user of Salesforce and Microsoft Office.
  • Open to travel up to 30% across African countries.
